Enough (2002)
half way through you'll scream "enough!"
I'll start with the tagline on the front of the DVD. "Everyone has a limit." This makes it seem like Jenny put up with abuse for a long time.... but nope, she got hit once and that was her limit. Misleading already. I have many qualms with this movie but i'll just point out a couple because it's not worth watching again to pick them all out. First, J-Lo's name is Slim.... misleading again. The second half of the movie is where it gets really frustrating. Jennifer trains for what seems to be a week or two (with a billy blanks impersonator) and is suddenly G.I. Jane. / Super Ninja / 007. She now can block cell phones, pick locks, hide in rafters / scale walls / use gadgets to find guns / beat up a large man / plant evidence to stage her master scheme. If you want a fantasy watch the passion or this one. If you want a quality suspense movie, pass on it.
Apocalypse Now (1979)
perfect?
I can't say anything bad about this film. It is a masterpiece through and through.
Martin Sheen gives a realistic portrayal of a soldier in Vietnam. The cinematography is beautiful, the acting and directing are phenomenal.
I saw a comment saying either you love it or you hate it. If you hate this movie, then you hate life. Nothing to hate about this movie except the reality of it all and that this sort of thing actually could have happened.
You might catch a very young Harrison Ford and Laurence Fishburne in this delight.
Dead Man (1995)
Could have been a masterpiece.
Deadman could have been an excellent movie. The major and possibly the only flaw in the entire movie was the casting of the role of 'Nobody'. Why couldn't Gary Farmer have lost 50 lbs before he starred opposite Johnny Depp... he was way too much overweight to be a begging, exhiled native American. That made all scenes including him unbelievable. It's a good movie but it could have been excellent.
Johnny Depp as always played his role most excellently, even though he had fewer lines than any other movie i've seen him in. I hate it when movies have huge potential to be a classic and ruin it by not carefully casting the roles. And that's my 2 cents.
Donnie Darko (2001)
A potential life-changing cinematic event
Donnie is an ordinary teen who is put into extraordinary circumstances. The movie is about love, fear and everything in between. It's also about decisions and taking responsibility for the path you choose. It is so unique that watching Donnie Darko can make you think you yourself are the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle that is Donnie. The beautiful thing about this movie is that you don't have to be a fan of the directors, or of Jake, or of movies. If you keep an open mind and decide what the movie means to you, it is such a joy to watch.
Excellent cinematography, casting, acting, directing, and dialogue. A new word must be created to define Donnie Darko.... scrumtilescent.
