Full Circle (2023)
Stopped at E03
If a show doesn't capture you by even the third episode, it's either poorly written, poorly executed (directed) or the actors are bad. In this case, all 3 apply. I'm the kind of guy who sits down and takes on a whole season at one sitting if it's worth it. With this show, it took me 2 weeks to watch 3 episodes, and every time I had to do a lot of self convincing saying "it'll go off on this episode".
No.
It doesn't.
It's just bad. It's bad, boring, the plot drags behind, the actors - even those who were great in other shows or movies are plain, flat, boring. The plot is so painfully foreseeable, we've been in almost every situation in zillions of shows and movies.
Avoid.
Beast (2022)
Get in trouble on purpose
It's the kind of movie where you know after the first 5 minutes how it will end.
Oh no, he won't do that - yesss, he did!
Oh no, they won't go there - yes, they are!
Oh no, they are not thinking that'd work - yes, they do!
Going on a safari with a group of 4 with 1 tranquilizer gun and a knife and half a liter of water for everyone to a place where there's no one just dust and animals... hell yeah!
Checking out a mass murder then a mauled village with two underage girls, yeah! One of them wanders the f off to chase a goat, oh yes!
This movie is packed with crystalized stupidity and no meaning whatsoever, Idris must have needed the money very badly to get in this project, eww.
Moon Knight (2022)
One more unneeded Marvel show
How many times can you brew a tea from the same pod? How many times can you use the same formula, topped by remarkable CGI to cover the nothingness? I think Marvel is pushing the limits...
This show dances on the edge of boredom and chaos, most of the time bordering with annoyance.
Whenever 'Mark' starts to make the episode watchable, 'Steven' resurfaces and blows the candle.
Also, that part with the 'jury of the gods' when Mark tried to kind of persuade the gods to see the evident and imminent danger... those gods are either plain dumb, or ignorant, or both.
Also, the gods 'have decided not to interfere with the world of humans' yet they are very happy to punish one of them just for doing something useful. Also, during that trial, all gods have taken the word of the second-hand avatar and punished one of them. Really?
I just wonder if I will ever get the time spent to watch this show back... I feel robbed.
PS: The 4 stars are for the looks.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Terrible and profoundly boring
I'm a fan of absurd humour. I like Jackie Chan & Michelle Yeoh. I like films which have a long build up... but this... this... something is just boring, pointless, stupid (oh yes, and I like slapstick humour). I couldn't even watch it till the end and had to turn off after an hour and a half, my worst spent 90 minutes. Avoid... just...avoid.
PS: my reference to Jackie Chan is meant for this second class Jackie Chan look alike...
Unearth (2020)
Save 94 minutes of your life
OK so the first 1 hour is just a slow, boring, redneck biopic. Don't wait for any actions, clues... whatever. Nothing is happening. If they wanted to set the scene they could have done it in 3 minutes. That much has happened on the first hour.
Then it's just a downhill of meaningless things happening which lead nowhere. Nowhere. Scenes that have no meaning, actions that lead to nothing and the ending is just the real cherry on the top of it. Well the ending has probably happened because they ran out of battery life or something... The closing scene during the credit then shows a lakeside town with boats and everything. God knows why...
Ava (2020)
3 stars because of Malkovich
There are movies, that have plots that were used a zillion times but the action, the choreography or good acting makes it enjoyable the zillion and first time. Well, this is not the case.
I can't believe the heroine, the fight scenes look like from the 70s B movies and the whole movie is predictable with some poor endeavors and plotholes trying to make the painfully used up plot a bit more interesting - to no avail.
Like I said, 3 stars because of Malkovich, he's good as always.
Relic (2020)
Nah. Meh...
Slow burn horror, right? OK, this whole movie could have been, should have been the idea that sparks A MOVIE. It has no concept, no answers, just loose ends and very elegantly ignored things that happen. I was so happy when the girl has found that mirror evil side of the house. Finally, yes, SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN! But no... and the mold... that bloody mold... what? Why? Who were that couple (was it a couple? Or a man? Or a woman?) who had died in that cottage? Whose was that cottage? Where was it? Why did that stupid stained glass window transfer "ze evil" from that cottage? Was grandad an occultist? A maniac murderer? Or he just died... or did he go black too? What happens after you go black? You die? Are you going to scare your family?
A movie has loose ends, open endings to you too ponder. This... thing... lets you imagine the whole script, because there's none.
