Hereafter (2010)
Play It Again Sam...and again & again...
2 hours & 10 minutes of waiting for something to happen. Anyone who has seen the trailer has an idea of what the film is about. This makes the events that occur in the movie fairly predictable. The ending still has me shaking my head. Although mildly of interest how some of the characters' lives cross paths, I think that either I missed something or the plot is in fact deeply flawed. Of course, it's always up for interpretation. The main question I have is how do we justify the ending where George and Mary (apparently suddenly) fall in love??? He sees her at her book signing. He gets a vision of her near death experience when their hands touch. A few very brief encounters all totalled and this is the note they close the movie on?!? I honestly thought that perhaps the film was cut prematurely by accident because there was no way it could end this pointlessly. I am most willing to hear some feedback from other viewers who may be able to illuminate me on my observations.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
250 Million Thumbs Down
I am not going to lower myself to give this trash a standard review. Consider this a friendly tip if you're thinking about renting (or God forbid, buying) this film.
There aren't enough adjectives to describe how terrible this "film" is. Cohen a genius??? No no no my friend. Cohen a nobody wannabe star who'd lick bull testicles if he knew it'd bring him 10 seconds of fame is more like it.
A shame to the motion picture industry.
Cohen has faded into his all too familiar world of forgoteness. And there, I am sure, he will remain.
King of Cars (2006)
Yes...this IS how we dooze it !
Although this show falls into the genre of "reality TV", it serves up so much more. It's entertaining, there's humor, there's energy from the staff, but most importantly it doubles as a training film on the right way to sell. Coming from a strong customer relations background which includes working as a sales rep for Sony Canada (the largest home and commercial manufacturer of electronics in the world) I can tell you 1st hand that the sales techniques Chop's staff employs is EXACTLY what every business owner wants & needs. There is a parallel between this show and the movie "Glen Gary Glenross"...and that's saying a LOT!
I don't agree with those who put down or dis the show. Some talk about how can you trust buying a car from a setting such as Towbin Dodge. Granted, the atmosphere is off the hook and deviant from the norm. Buying a car is a big decision. Most salesmen are all high pressure and hard sell and don't make for a comfortable feeling for the customer. King Of Cars takes that tension away, and goes out of it's way to make the customer at home and comfortable. Their business practice is simply good business. No wonder they're #1 in Nevada. If you're in sales...WATCH THIS SHOW AND LEARN!!! Again...from personal experience I can relate to the sales methods used by these guys...and YES it works without scaring the customer. And Josh...in case you're reading this...keep on doozin it thata way! ps: if you ever need a mover, lemme know bro!
