Live Free or Die Hard (2007)
Is that it!!
It's been 12 years since the last Die Hard, and now he is back. What does it bring to the table. Over the top action, some nice one liners, Bruce, and a very good time. As pretty much everyone else I was extremely disappointed over the PG-13 and for a moment I had serious doubts about the film. The only reason I decided to watch it is because after all it's still a Die Hard and a solid entry to the series at that.
The story I think is really not that bad. Better than Die Harder but not as good as 1 and 3. This time around McClane is facing a digital attack on the USA. He's having personal problems with his family, and all he has to do is pick up a kid and drive him down to D.C. But it's just another one of those days and thing are about to get messy.
Len Wiseman I think did a very good job considering he had to go with a lower rating, but he did have a bigger budget and a solid story. He goes over the top quite a few times (the so talked about F-35 scene) but he kept the spirit of previous DH's and you can see he's got a lot of love for the series. Sometimes you can see this is still something newer and not really that 80's action anymore, but it is what it is, and he did a good job.
Bruce Willis again does what he does best. Killing, beating up, and screaming at people. He does it with such style you wanna join him. Anyone who missed seeing him on the big screen won't be disappointed, although the F-bombs aren't dropping.
To sum up it's a solid entry to DH, it's not as good as the first one, but it's one a pair with 2 and 3 with Vengeance being slightly better. If you're looking for a good time this is it. In t he summer of disappointing sequels, Live free or Die hard does what it was set to do and John McClane is back on a high note.

Dip huet seung hung (1989)
The Killer
Once upon a time lived a director who made action graceful and artful. He moved to the US and there he became just another guy. Thankfully we have Hard Boiled,A Better Tomorrow and of course The Killer.
A man, smooth and cool, with a white scarf enters a restaurant. There he kills a few guys and does it so beautifully, you think he has done something good. But in the process he coincidently by-shoots a girl in her eyes. She is left blind. As the story moves The Killer wants to make up for the bad he has done to her and helps her out, of course she doesn't know it's really him. Another man becomes interested in her. A cop, who is also chasing The Killer. Te story goes from interesting to very interesting and makes u fell for the characters.
Here we have a very untypical story for an action. First of all it has a more sentimental story, it doesn't just really on it's action. And by making us care for the characters it makes the action tense.
The cast is led by a legend of HK cinema. Chow Yun-Fat. Here he shows his abilities to preform great in a sentimental role but keeping his coolness as an assassin. Helped by Danny Lee who also gives a fine performance. Sally Yeh, the girl they love is a sweet person and u feel sorry for her.
Of course this would not be a John Woo film without some amazing action. And here, I think the best action ever caught on camera can be seen. It was not the time of wires and CGI, it was a time when John Woo was The King of action. He moves the camera like no one and makes action and art form. It's not just shooting and killing it's like a ballet where u can admire the way people move and solve any problems with a single move. If there is anyone who says there is not enough action in a film like this is crazy. I felt the action was non stop, but at the same time I felt it developed the characters. Thrully wonderful film-making.
So I guess The Killer is the best action film ever. A great story unbelievable direction, action at it's finest and a great cast make this a film for the ages and every hard-core action fan should see it. 4/4
Strangers on a Train (1951)
Wow
This is not one of the most known films made by the master, but it delivers. Big time. My personal Hitchcock favorite.
As the film starts we see a conversation between two men. One a tennis player, other a man who clearly knows much about the first guy. After the talk the other guy invites the tennis player for a dinner. There he revels his true intentions. He wants to do a perfect murder. He would kill whoever is in the other guy's way, while he would kill his father. The criss-cross murder is simply the way to do it if u want to get away with the murder. Of course they never met before so there is no motive. But it gets complicated when Guy, the tennis player, refuses the offer.
Hitchcock creates suspense like no one and here he is at his best. There are numerous scenes where his genius is shown. Like the scene where Guy is looking in the crowd searching for Bruno, and all of the heads are moving except Brunos. Then there is the murder scene where a murder is seen in the reflection of the glasses. But the scene that simply impressed me was the final scene. It's simply amazing and it shows a different Alfred.
As far as acting is concerned it's really great. The characters are very unique and u can connect to at least one. The most entertaining person was Bruno who keeps on surprising us with his tricks and intelligence.
Hitch knows hot to make an unbelievable film from a great script ( see Psycho or North by Northwest )and his directing combined with a great story and acting makes this a great experience. 4/4
Panic Room (2002)
Pretty good, but not using it's total potential
Now i had big hopes for this thing, but it showed to be a little disappointing. Now the story is a great idea but it's hard to make a film long 2 h and keep it interesting when it's a one place film. They should make it shorter for at least 15-20 min and keep us on the edge of our seat. Some scenes are too long, and u get bored. But still it's a pretty good film whit good acting, nice camera movement and a interesting story.
Panic room is about a divorced mother who moves in to a new house whit her daughter. It's a big house whit a room called the panic room. The room is used when the owner is in danger and can not get out of the house. And it happens that the first night of their stay some people brake in. They tough it was empty but it showed it wasn't. But since they are hear there is no point of going back since there is a lot of money in the house. The problem is the money is in the panic room, and mom has been able to get in whit her daughter...
As i sad this hat a lot of potential but it kinda lets u down whit some slow moments and some typical h'wood cheese. The best performance comes from Forrest Whitaker who i think has a good future. The rest of the cast puts on a good performance too. Now i very much liked the camera movement. Yes some were made whit fx but still looked cool. Also a very nice direction by Fincher.
So overall i liked the movie but hoped for a little bit more. Now Fincher is no Hitchcock but still did a great job of keeping us interested of how it ends. Koepp is a good writer but has some faults. But the script is good but as said before way to long for a thriller of this kind. I'll give it a 7/10.
Chik yeung tin si (2002)
Sexy, Action-packed, and entertaining
HK has always been able to produce quality movies. Chicks kicking the ass out of guys is just always a great ride. You see these 3 hot girls, who are smooth and graceful. The action is unbelievable. It's what you expect from HK, but it still bothers me that the glass cgi are visible fake. The acting is solid, but after all u don't need Oscar type of acting in these kind of film. I found Shu Qi to be the most sexy and captured the best performance. The others where great too.
SPOILERS AHEAD
There are only 2 things i didn't like: 1. Shu Qi death 2. Some bad CGI and simple plot
END SPOILERS
Otherwise this is a great film to watch. It's sometimes funny, it has some h'wood type of drama, and of course it has HK action. So it's very very very Sexy, Action-packed, and entertaining.
8/10 Because of the 2 things i disliked
Meng long guo jiang (1972)
Bruce The Legend
The plot in this picture is ordinary and used 100 of times before. But what makes this worth of time is the legendary fight Lee Vs. Norris For me the fight is the best ever topping even my all-time favorite film The Matrix. The scene itself is actually that god that even today i doubt eny1 could make it better than the legend himself.
I feel like the entire world has been robbed when Bruce died. The man who had a dream that became a realty, too sad it came to late.
The acting in this film is very very bad but its the fights that are worth watching and worth of your time.
Sure there will never be another Mr. Lee but we have his films to keep him alive and when we have children his films are the right choice to show to them and find a great role model.
Bad Boys (1995)
Bad Boys, Bad Boys Whatcha gonna do....
A film whit a simple plot, but so many laughs your stomach will hurt 3 days after you watch it. This film is a Martin Lawrence show. I mean the guy is so funny i can watch him every day and still laugh like the first time. Will Smith also put out a solid performance but he can't beat Martin.
The action is also very solid, but if u want great action look for it in the second part, because this one is more funny and better because of only one thing- it's shorter. the second film is too long, while this one could be 10 maybe 5 minutes shorter but it's still great.
Also look out for a Joe Pontaliano performance which will knock you out. So of you are looking for a lot of laughs on a Friday night bad boys is a perfect choice.
10/10 because i simply love Mr. Lawrence
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
B-E-A-utifull
I was waiting for this picture to come out for a long time, and i didn't know what to expect. Sure you got Angelina and Brad in the same movie but that usually doesn't work. So when i saw the trailer i was hoping for a Friday night out movie... was i wrong , was i wrong...
It had so much to offer. After only 30 sec. in the film i know i was going to enjoy. It started fast whit some funny quotes. The action is not something we haven't already seen but it's directed in a funny way ( the car chase scene is very funny ) I usually don't like Brad Pitt but this time he was great, Jolie was beautiful and great as always. Their performance is great while not a lot of other characters got the attention. But those two are good enough to really keep you watching the film until the end.
So i would say this is a great summer blockbuster, and it's good way to start the summer on a very high note.
10/10 because i simply love it and can't wait to see it again
The Matrix (1999)
How Do You Define Real
The Matrix is movie that keeps you breathless. It s not just the CGI, but the story, the fights, the meaning.. What separates this film from any other is that it has a story thats is not to be taken lightly. Perheps the brothers know what they are talking about, after all you should ask yourself : How Do You Define Real. And the answer is simple: If you're talking about what you can feel. . .. . .what you can smell, taste and see. . .then "real" is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. We are living in the world thats is full of questions. Some of them can be answered many can not. So when You are watching this movie try to except it as something what could be real, if we knew what real really is. The Matrix is an entertaining movie whit a lot of action an CGI. Some people only like those two, but most of us see this as so much more. Things that happened every day are hard to explain so people explain them by saying god had something to do what that, so ask yourself can it all be true. That we are living in a computer system thats been made to keep us under control... Perhaps its not exactly as it is shown in the matrix, but there is a chance because people are so blind to see the truth that they believe anything they are made to believe...
Now the acting in the matrix is quite god for a sci-fi. Except maybe Keanu is at his usuall-self. Fishburne was very good at his part, together with Carrie and Hugo. But as is was said it is the story that made this film my favorite.
The CGI are a breakthrough. Even the mighty Phantom menace was not up to the challenge. Whit Bullet-time as a trade mark it has been 1 of the most copied movies in the last 6 years. Bullet time has been sine in over 22 movies after the release of The Matrix.
There are so many things to see in the matrix, if u only keep your eyes open an look at it as SOMETHING THAT COULD BE REAL, IF WE KNEW WHAT REAL REALLY IS. 10 out of 10
