best thing you will ever see
20 May 2021
Love how original it is from all the aspects of film making. From the tone to the story and the acting. The melancholic undertone is quite addiction.

The no bullshit straight to business attitude makes it more appealing.

I just hope i see something this good before i die.

ambiguity and beauty
17 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It starts as a thriller and towards the end becomes so subvert and contextual in its approach that you might gonna bite the dust if you looking for defined answers and regular cinema hooks but if you patient and not looking for your usual thrill it offers so much more than a regular thriller. Pitch perfect casting the atmosphere sucks you in as if you travelling together and there is a mystical quality to it with its teeth deeply sunk into reality. MASterful work not for everyone.

Phoenix gets an Oscar....for sure
16 January 2020
What becomes of a man in an indifferent society and how a wannabe stand-up comedian becomes the most feared madman in cinema history is the crux of this story. Phoenix owns the screen like he was born to play this with that the sound design and cinematography is top notch. Its a psychological character study of someone going insane where the society has defeated them.Every scene is meticulously acted and crafted. If this is the standard of Cinema i am glad we living at a time when phoenix is acting.

Bravo

average like any bollywood movie on a sensitive subject
29 September 2019
Bilal Siddiqi could easily become a bollywood screen writer as he knows the tropes required. The bad guys are bad and the good guys are better without any shade.whats funny is how the politics of the region is portrait. The machismo shown is pitiful and in the name of nuances a punjabi guy saying theek hai.Emraan tries to shine but there isn't much to work with and the bathroom sequence is a bad ripoff. When you have The spy in the same month you really dont feel like wasting your time for this.

Dunst is perfect
4 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Its one of the best shows of 2019 period. Dunst nails the lead which has an undertone of Fargo but pretty original in its writing. The supporting cast is great special mention to Théodore Pellerin. The story revolves around a widows chase of an american dream in the forefront of phony capitalism. give it a try if you like quality stuff.

nail on the coffin

Crowe delivered a career best since gladiator.the performance is so nuanced you feel every breath he takes a masterful writing and supporting cast at best. this is how a character study is done without being prejudiced towards anything it shows a way for all the others. Kudos

The lost soul
11 May 2019
This is one of the best movies of our times and PTA is one of best working directors without a doubt.what amazes me is his treatment of behavior over time. A lost soul struggling to find a direction with no where to go and what he finds is a medium through which he channels his inner demons. Its a commentary on relationship that grows out of a need for something concrete and may be worthy. watch it for the layers in the story, the performance of phoenix and hoffman is out of the world and yes a mention for the backgroud score of greenwood. Cinema cannot get any better

A blow on Meaningless capitalist modern city life
10 May 2019
After a very long time i have seen a movie which is taking its own time to unfold and pulling no punches in doing that.coming to the story and screenplay it talks about the age old class struggle and the rooted prejudices of modern indian society.I personally felt a rebelling theme of anarchism along with a disgust to the modern capitalist society and city life and its meaninglessness.Acting is top-notch.there is something so dreamy about the whole texture.Watch it if you have patience for meaningful moments its rewarding.

reminiscence of monsoon wedding

It takes it further the two worlds the double standard the repressed sexuality of Delhi's life.perfectly nuanced and written. Class, culture, sexuality and the morality of good and evil and everything in between. Every story brings a new issue at hand.

Autohead (2016)
Genre defining
10 February 2017
Out of my search for some independent cinema i stumbled upon this gem and i had no idea what i am going to get but it surely was one hell of a ride in the auto.plot wise its a master class in film making and gives you a feel of a found footage but it has a lot of layers and depth that you hardly see these days.It comes with a straight face and the problems of a developing society to name a few the sexism, regionalism and the common interest in violence and above all the idiosynchronicity. The main lead stands so tall that everything else falls short.Without giving too much i just want to say watch it because if you not you are missing something worth your time.

Gripping mystery at its best
25 August 2016
tinker tailor is a masterclass in the mystery genre. It grips you from the very beginning and the characters are well fleshed. What I liked is the atmosphere along with the photography and cinematography. The dialogues are written in an excellent way and the silence speaks louder than words comes true.Acting is top notch with Gary Oldman and hardy at their best. The background music stands out. The director detailed everything with great complexity and emotion. Some might not like the pacing of the movie but personally, I think its decent enough. Its one of the best in mystery movies I have seen in the recent past .If you ask me its an 8 without being biased. Watch it if you want to be moved instead of just entertainment.
