Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)
People's expectations...
People have their expectations and then they are naturally disappointed when they get something else than they wished for not even knowing what they really want... and it's actually their problem, not Charlie Brooker's... Really good episode that makes one think, but then again who still uses to think these days, thinking is soooo old school, I guess :-/
Hereditary (2018)
Masterpiece. Period.
If you happen to prefer slasher flicks like Hills Have Eyes or The Texax Chainsaw Massacre, this movie is obviously a total waste of time. On the other hand If you happen to know and appreciate mostly unknown gems like We Go On, A Dark Song or The Autopsy of Jane Doe, no doubt this is definitely a movie for you.
If you like neoclassical suspense horror movies where you are required to use your own brain in order to figure it out, go for Hereditary, you won't be diappointed. A true masterpiece. Wicked as Hell!!!-)))
Welt am Draht (1973)
The very first of its kind
As already stated by a number of other reviewers this movie is virtually (pun intended) unknown to a broader audience/viewer base which is a pity, a huge one. I consider myself to be quite a connoisseur of weird, twisted, mind-bending movies in general, there are almost none that i haven't stalked out so far... the greater was my surprise when "by accident" i stumbled upon this unknown "little" gem last year or so, it took me quite a while to get and watch it and - I was literally blown away. THIS seems to be the very first ever movie addressing the idea of a fractal-like layered "reality" that reflects upon itself to find out that itself is just another simulated virtual layer of some supposedly "real" super-reality on top of it... The 13th Floor? The Matrix? Existenz? And any other movie addressing this theme? compared to this one they are all just mere spin-offs with better special effects, everything substantial was already said in 1973 by R.W.Fasbinder. If you really dare to go to the lowest level of the cinematic fractal rabbit hole embracing the ideas first introduced most probably by Philip.K.Dick in the late 50's and then perhaps more famously re-iterated in D.F.Galouye's 1964 "Simulacron-3", R.W.Fasbinder's Welt am Draht is the very first stepping stone - correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt I am. Definitely worth the 3+hours of your life if you are into this kind of stuff... I just wonder if Nick Bostrom watched it before formulating the now famous Simulation hypothesis of Reality ;-)
Cosmopolis (2012)
Cronenberg at his Best!!!
This is Shivers, Videodrome and eXistenZ continued....
Do not let Yourselves get fouled by opinions of those who do Not Know, do Not Follow and therefore do Not Understand...
After accidentally watching one of the Twilight Saga flicks with my younger sister I did not expect much of Robert Pattison, imho he really is Not a bad actor at All, Juliette Binoche pretending to be 41 is an oll'Pro, all others keep it real cool paranoid, the security guy always listening in is probably the best gem, really creepy ex-post modern fun that delivers spine-shivers for those of U out there who regularly watch somewhat-conspiracy-oriented Utube channels etc. Ol'Cro knows very well what's today's Buzz about...
So far the Best Cronenberg's Piece of Art up 2 date.
