The Ron James Show (2009–2014)
1/10
Ouch!
2 October 2013
This show is painful to watch. It is not at all funny. I really have nothing else to say because I don't want to think about the show at all to write about it! It is an old guy telling really bad jokes and doing really bad skits. There is animation that you watch for a few minutes then it ends and you say why did it end? How can you tell it is even over, there was no middle even, just him talking for a while and then the skit ends, no jokes or anything. What is the point of this show? Can anyone have a show on Canadian TV? Where's my show, I would like a show where I don't even try to tell jokes and just put in the sound of people laughing when obviously no one in real life would actually laugh at this useless stuff.

The Main Problem Is The Actors
2 October 2013
This show is not good and has a lot of problems but the biggest problem is definitely the actors. The guy and girl in the couple are good looking but they couldn't read a line or tell a joke to get someone to laugh if their lives depended on it. It is like they posted an ad on Craigslist for two good looking people to come down then the first two that showed up were told they were now on a TV show and it doesn't matter if they can act at all. It looks like they have other credits and maybe they can act in drama but acting in comedy is somehow different because they stink at this. I can see where the jokes are but these actors just strangle those jokes to death like they hate comedy. Everyone in this show seems like they are just reading their lines for the first time so they can take their bags of cash and get out of there since like most Canadian comedy shows this is truly awful and will be cancelled following a long line of other crap which most of these people have also been in. Are there only 10 comedy actors in Canada? The fat neighbour is the guy had a show that was mind boggling it was so awful, he is actually OK in this as the moronic neighbour, his problem is more that the writing stinks than that he can't deliver any lines right, he seems OK and even made me smile a couple times. The guy who lives with the couple is also OK but it seems strange some other 40 year old guy lives with them but acts like he's 10, he is way too stupid to be believable and that's another problem, everyone in this show is an idiot, don't you know there should be different kinds of characters, Seinfeld had Seinfeld it wasn't just four total morons in a room each doing stupid things. This show makes me angry it's so bad. The girl is an airhead with big boobs. The guy who runs the bar and is a washed up athlete also can't deliver a joke to save his life. The other friend seems like a creepy paedophile and that actor always does but this character especially is creepy and not funny, if you have seen this hour has 22 minutes or Halifax comedy fest you know what I mean when I say this guy doesn't bring anything other than a quick nap he's so boring. Why does Canadian TV keep shoving the same unfunny wash ups down our throats? Even the guests on this show stink. They had Jeff Pierson from 24 on and he's a great actor and he looked like he couldn't believe he was doing such a crappy show and he is right! Same episode, Colin Mochrie not sure if he is a regular but apparently he will do any TV show for a dollar and a can of coke. I give this 2 out of 10 only because I have seen worse shows.

Package Deal (2013–2014)

I Expected So Much More!
2 October 2013
This show is really unfunny. From what I read it's by a super amazing producer in the U.S. but maybe he just mailed it in for this so he could collect a big bag of money. Typical. I just wrote a review for Satisfaction which is also awful and I am so sad for the state of Canadian TV and films. I am very disappointed by how unfunny these shows are.

Where to begin for Package Deal? The writing just stinks. It is about 10-15 years behind the times. Maybe the producer of this is doing this because he was successful in the U.S. 10 years ago and just can't move with the times. It is like watching someone do a show with the same jokes in a sitcom that would have been maybe a little funny in the 90's.

The premise is a stretch because what guy has two brothers about his same age (all in their freaking 40's) who control his life and get worried about him dating a girl and by the way the girl is hot and successful.... oh obviously they wouldn't want that! What the hell? The actors are bad. The main actor and his girlfriend are very unfunny, not sure why but it's typical and sad that Canadian comedy shows cast OK to look at people to have their own comedy shows but that can't do comedy at all! It's terrible. The other two guys are both comedians, I guess they figured they could lift the show up. Harland Williams is amazing and I love his comedy and he is OK in this but the writing again is so terrible he has nothing to work with. The other guy is a huge nerd of a character and super annoying but I can't tell how much of that is that he sucks and how much of it is that the writing stinks so much.

The other reviewer is right, skip this show because it's 30 minutes you'll just wish you had back and you'll just feel depressed about Canadian TV like me. Ugh this sucks.

Cymek is Terrible, Kingsley Not Much Better
9 July 2013
I've seen bad acting and I've seen terrible acting and I've seen the W.O.R.S.T. acting now that I've seen Andrew Cymek in a movie. To call his acting wooden would be an insult to wood which is far more interesting. He has a grand total of one facial expression. How did he get cast in this? I wondered too until I checked out the credits, not sure how I made it that far in the movie I must have been real tired, but he was also director, writer, producer, pretty much everything. So he obviously thinks he has acting chops but honey he doesn't. Let's be honest, nobody in this movie was a good actor at all. The wrestler who plays a maniac who snaps every time he sees the colour red, yes you read that right, was awful. The character of Mabel was OK and got a couple laughs in her gory comic relief role but I'm sure at least partly that was in comparison to the other actors. William Davis, Test, Reso, John Rhys Davies, Mercedes McNabb, they all look super embarrassed just to be in this. Co-star Brigitte Kingsley only looks decent in her scenes with Cymek, otherwise she is almost as wooden as him. What legitimate doctor dresses like that? These two hamriffic performances are so bad the movie should at least be funny to laugh at but it's too bad even for that. The climactic scene where she's in a cage going underwater and talking to Cymek literally resulted in laughter at the most inappropriate time at their awful performances. Let's not mince words, she has huge breasts so guys will like to look at her and that's about all either 'star' has to offer in this flick. Cymek's not much of a director or writer either with terrible, predictable plot points and dialogue. Here's hoping this movie flopped so bad he'll never get money to make another one.
