Serenity Song
25 April 2024
This movie was a better than expected chick flick. While the formula was expected, it felt fresh somehow. I enjoyed the Australian setting. Random strategically covered nudity made me laugh out loud. The supporting cast (when did Dermot Mulroney get older?!) was really enjoyable. The backdrop of a wedding weekend allowed for many different scene settings, too. Also, the end credits were an added fun bonus. Don't analyze it, just enjoy a few silly, lazy hours.

Negativity equals sadness , More words. Positivity is better. More words. Feel the rain on your skin...the rest is still unwritten. Roll credits.

To the Point, No Fluff
3 April 2024
I'm not typically into true crime, but this series worked for me. It was concise, informative and entertaining. Most of all, the crimes were solved. There were no endless recaps and exaggerated pauses. These are intelligent, tough, detectives/prosecutors and I appreciate what they did so much.

My heart goes out to the family and friends. It must have been difficult for them to relive these tragic times. I hope they feel somewhat helped by how more people are now aware of and can appreciate the their loved one.

I hope there are more seasons showcasing the heroic actions of these folks or others like them.

But, the Hair!
5 February 2024
I binged this in a weekend and overall I enjoyed it. There were many twists and turns, but there were also unlikely head scratching moments. I believe I enjoyed Darby more when she was younger and with Bill. I would not have minded more Joe Doe content, for sure. The setting in Iceland was interesting. I'd recommend it if you are looking for something new and you can suspend belief half of the time.

As an aside, I was bothered to distraction half the time over Darby's hair. Whoever was in charge of choosing her styles and continuity from one scene to the next missed the mark. When she was younger her, and Bill's hair for that matter, had terribly awful short bangs. Bill even had those same bangs later - what the what. Then Darby has plastered flat blonde hair that did not move and inch, ever. Finally she dyes it pink for a decent hairstyle for dinner, only to have that stylist inexplicably changed after she leaves the table. Later, it's wet, dry, parted then not, then shorter, then fluffed. I just could not stand it.

Much Better Than Expected
22 October 2023
I had low expectations after hearing it did not do so well at the box office, but I really liked it. Lots of laughs from me, but I will qualify that by saying I'm 54 year old women, fan of the ride and watched with no kids. I really enjoyed the cast, some of whom were new to me, but always ready for some Danny Devito and Owen Wilson. I think there are plenty of children who would not enjoy this movie, though. I thought the back story was fresh and loved the New Orleans shots. I did groan that they are pulling up at night and there is no electricity - get real. Except it's a movie....so. Anyway, I'm so glad I watched it!

Good, but Missing Parts?
22 October 2023
I was compelled to watch this movie because of the actors. I found it to be a good story and was relieved it was not a B movie about a giant killer snake. I was not sure where the storyline was going to go, but did figure it out well before the reveal. It felt like a movie that was based on a book because there were pieces of information that seemed like we should have had a bit more for them to really feel like a part of the story. I especially enjoyed seeing Alicia Silverstone in the role of the wife of the main character. Her character was smart and engaging and their marriage was relatable in that they shared things with each other. As to the pacing some have mentioned I have a habit of watching on the app at 2X speed so no problems there. Overall this was a very solid, enjoyable movie.

Wrong Ending
5 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I had this movie all figured out, except I didn't. It would have been an ok movie then.

At the beginning mom is somewhat put together and actually goes to her job. The description of the movie makes a point she is a fertility doctor. She is for 5 minutes. The family dynamic with her ex and his wife is odd. What would they be sitting alone in a dimly lit house waiting for the new wife to come before cutting the cake?

As the movie progresses it becomes clear mom is unhinged. She does not ask her daughter any of the reasonable questions you would ask a child having trouble. She is not loving. She gets nasty. And the rabbit, I for sure missed whatever that was to represent.

Skip forward near the end, a attendant at her mother's facility says she's not allowed to be there. But never mind, the attendant just walks away. All signs were to me pointing to a twist ending. The whole time it is the main character in the hospital and none of this is actually happening. Her ex husband is actually a doctor there and the little girl is just the granddaughter of another patient. That would have been a good ending.

Surprisingly Emotional
27 March 2023
I really liked this movie and I did not expect it to be emotional. Jahi Di'Allo Winston was fantastic in this character. The government parts of the film were silly and did not interest me. It was a ghost story written in a way I have not seen with plot elements I did not predict. If you are looking for a fun not scary ghost story and don't overthink things, this movie is for you. Anthony Mackie and David Harbour brought good name recognition to get me to watch it and they looked like the enjoyed their roles and not having to take themselves too seriously. I'd like a part 2 for this family with another happy ending.

Really Fun
12 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Cute rom com that was better than I expected. Channing Tatum is not the lead I usually go for but the chemistry between him and Sandra was surprising. Honestly my main motivation for watching was Daniel Radcliff and he did not disappoint. What a fun character. Of course the story was silly, but i laughed out loud multiple times.

What else to make this review longer...leaches, yuck. Naked back side...yay! Slow dancing...nice. Blood...ewe. Stuffy high brow reviews...boo. People who enjoy getting away from it all for a few hours without over analyzing...woohoo! Give it a try if this attitude resonates with you.

Good Start
13 June 2022
I've seen a lot of reviews focusing on Disney and being woke. What I watched was a story with the main characters that are not American. We know there's a whole Marvel universe so what, if Disney makes this choice, that's a problem for you? I'm a 52 yr old white American woman and I enjoyed this first episode. What's the big deal?

I'm so annoyed that I watched this!

Warning: Spoilers
I should have read the reviews. You never get to find out what caused the whole thing. Dumb!! I love this genre. I liked the actors. It would not have been hard to give it and ending.

Watched in a day
16 January 2022
I know nothing about this author and have not seen these actors in anything else so had no expectations. I got hooked right away and stayed up way too late watching the first 3 episodes then finished the rest in the morning. The series reminded me of Broadchurch. Lots of characters and things happening at the same time. The only thing I didn't like was how stupid people are when not calling police when they should.

Exceeded Expectations
28 November 2021
Our family (62, 52, 22) really enjoyed it. We thought it was a fun twist on the original. Why so much hate?

Just have fun with it. You can love the old and enjoy the new. Also don't blame Disney for everything. I thought it was good casting, too.

Happy to say I really liked it!
15 November 2021
I have loved the Marvel movies and watch them over and over. I'm don't read comic books, just enjoy the movies for what they are. This had the essential elements for me: main characters that I like and can get invested in and humor to go along with all the action. I look forward to seeing them again.

Middle Aged Girlfriend Fun
13 February 2021
Three of my middle-age girlfriends and I watched this movie together with lots of laughs. It was like an Adam Sandler genre for women mixed with Wes Anderson style. Now we want to go to Vista Del Mar!

Better that your average Hallmark style movie
9 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this movie as it was just enough different than the standard formula. The casting was a nice choice and the location was not some small town! Yeah, it was a small island, but whatever. The main characters were intelligent and there was not some dumb wishy washy boyfriend. The main character doesn't give up everything and change her life, nor does she need to. It was a little slow at times but I just hit fast forward a tad.

New to Me
25 October 2020
I've never read the book or seen any previous version, but I enjoyed this. The leads had chemistry and the villain(s) really angered me which is what is supposed to happen. The settings were gorgeous.

OK but frustrating
9 August 2020
I really enjoy sci-fi and thought I wouldn't mind the slow pace. But my goodness it was so slow. As another reviewer said, there is endless tuning of the radio, staring at screens, staring at space, and don't even get me started on the mints. The car lights on and and random interior lights didn't make sense either. Mike has also perfected the art of not blinking.

If friends of mine made this movie I would be impressed as it was low budget. I didn't hate it.

You might have to be a 50's fan
21 June 2020
I really enjoyed this movie. It's seems like people either love it or hate it. At the beginning when some say it's slow, I was to busy appreciating the 50's elements. Then as it got going I enjoyed the mysterious aspects. I like the 2 main characters together, too. I'm a sci-fi fan, nostalgia fan and a old school "B movie" fan. It could almost have been a MSTK 3000 movie, but an actual good one.
