Shattered (2022)
Predictable and Trite
Oh, John Malkovich...say it ain't so. What in the Sam Hill made you agree to this film? Did you own someone a huge favor? He must've. And Frank Grillo? Why, oh why? I was drawn to this film because I'm a fan of both actors, as well as Cameron Monaghan's, but this film just didn't do it for me.
I'm all about a good thriller, even those erotic thrillers of the 80s and 90s. This just wasn't one. I'm not even bashing this film for being unoriginal, because, let's face it, everything's been done before. This film was just done poorly. Bad dialogue. Pretentious and cliche protagonist. B movie-esque antagonist. I didn't believe anyone's storytelling here.
Dangerous Breed: Crime. Cons. Cats. (2022)
NOT a Teddy Hart documentary
If you could call this a documentary, it would be of Frederick, the director, who failed at developing a successful reality tv series. The guy had to do SOMETHING with all this footage he gathered, and then stumbled upon a missing person case. Everything is so disjointed. Yes, Teddy Hart is a disgusting sociopath of a human being. Yes, Teddy Hart is an interesting topic for a documentary, because he comes from a well established wrestling family, and he's ultimately failed at establishing himself. However, that's not what this docuseries fully discovers. This series is about the director. He has inserted himself into every aspect of this "documentary." It's about HIS failure to produce anything worthwhile. This becomes less about Teddy Hart and more about his missing girlfriend, pointing the finger solely at Teddy Hart midway through. That's not a documentary. It's more investigative journalism from an unreliable source.
Overall, it was boring.
Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives. (2022)
How idiotic and naive can one person really be??
I couldn't get through 2 episodes. After suffering through 9 episodes of Inventing Anna, I just couldn't witness another tediously boring scam doc. The first episode highlights Sarma as a complete fool making any other episode unnecessary. Do better Netflix. Not every lame scam involving the most naive individuals needs a docuseries.
Fear the Walking Dead: MM 54 (2018)
Just skip through to season 5. There's no redemption here.
I Legit just hit fast forward through the majority of the last 3 episodes. I'm about to skip to season 5. I hear Daniel will be showing back up by then. I just can't become invested in these new characters and absolute lack of compelling storytelling.
Fear the Walking Dead: Weak (2018)
Just skip this episode if you're streaming or catching up.
These new characters are just not Interesting enough to hold the show. The writing just keeps getting worse.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Call me "old fashioned," but CGI monster overkill does nothing for me
I really, realllly wanted to like this film. As a huge fan of the original mini-series (and EVERYTHING Tim Curry), I knew I'd have a challenge going into both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 with an open mind. I had to separate. I didn't have as high of expectations as I did for Chapter 1 as Part 2 of the mini series was much weaker than the Part 1 anyway as well as Stephen King's It (Book).
The actors were great. Even the first few jump scares were decent, and then it just became overkill. And not scary whatsoever. All of the CGI monsters look ridiculous and completely take you out of the moment. I grew up watching 80s/90s horror (AND LOVING IT). The baddies were REAL and TERRIFYING. For example, Mrs. Massey, the bloated bathtub corpse in The Shining. That was a real, completely horrifying image that has stayed with me 30 years after I First saw the movie. I don't understand the obsession with CGI when there's no need for it.
Sadly, this movie was just a drawn out bore.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Too slow, too long and an ultimately pointless film with pops of entertainment
While many Tarantino films include multiple stories that eventually come together with a great climax, this one fails. The majority of the film moves as slow as molasses with pops of entertainment here and there. Leo's character is fantastic. Pitt is okay. Margot serves as eye candy, only. Her role in this film is absolutely pointless. Her scenes are the worst and have nothing to do with the actual plot. You could chop 30 minutes off of this film, and still be bored.
Four Weddings and a Funeral (2019)
Cringeworthy, Semi-Unwatchable
I really, reallllly wanted to like this show. The first few minutes of Episode 1 were seemingly promising. And then it became an overdone, terrible, rom-com clique. It's a writing/acting combo disaster. None of the actors are believable in this show. What a waste.
