you fall in love with the characters
29 October 2013
If you're looking for a fun filled crime solving show, then this is the show to watch. This is not your average crime investigation show. Bones lets you inside to what happens during forensics and criminal investigation, but also introduces you to the lives of the crew behind it.

The characters all have different personalities. They all struggle to work in the same space to solve crimes and still be able to make it fun to watch. The chemistry between these characters open up you interest and you enjoy following them. Despite the seriousness that goes about their work, it still delivers you a laugh at every corner. Gives credit to good writing, acting and directing. Of course at times it also touches your sentiment by adding some intense drama between the crime story lines and also drama within the characters themselves.

Majority of the characters are intelligent scientists so it is common to hear science terms and jargon that may confuse the average viewer at times. They do however tend to give effort in to explaining them enjoyably through witty writing and character delivery.

I've been a fan of the show since its conception and I have to say it's been a fun journey. It's one of my favorite shows and I am happy where it has gone. I have to admit it has its weak moments. Some crimes grow nonchalant and predictable. The character developments also grow to a dead end at times. I am also bittersweet about how they write off characters and bring new ones in to keep the show interesting and set a different vibe. For a show running this long it's understandable they could tend to decline in writing.

The Evil Dead (1981)

just unadulterated evil
29 October 2013
So a party of friends play innocent in a haunting that is so out-of-the-way up the hills. A typical set up for terror. At the beginning it's easy to get lost in the character's stories, understandable for what's really in store. Just minutes it already tries to creep you, but the 'good' stuff really comes in later on. Basically the movie will try to haunt and creep you all the way to the end. It does a good job at that. The setting feels somewhat clamped in, which adds to the overall ambient horror. Acting may be cheezy and visuals korny. I enjoyed the film although they could have done things better but what more could they have done back then?

Because of modern horror films of late, many may not appreciate the movie. I have to admit I can't deny being jaded. If you see beyond that then you can appreciate the smart visuals, gore and terror material, which is what highlights this movie I believe.

stimulating but it has its moments
28 October 2013
First thing easy to praise and have a lasting impression is the amazing artwork done, good job! It's one of the best artwork done that I've seen so far. The next thing noticeable is of course the animation for the artwork. It's middling at some parts, mostly the introductory sequence. But overall it will definitely catch your amazement, especially the fighting scenes.

The new hot girl in school arrives with an over protective cousin. The story also showcases a lot of "girl power". Aside from supergirl, you'll see amazonians and female furies involved in most of the plot lines. It seems the title of the movies was misleading too. The story was great but for me the pace of the story seemed weak and is missing some essential justifications, such as the relationship between Kara and Kyla. And some character background that are not that familiar for the regular viewer such as Barda. Then again, I guess it is meant for long time or in depth fans of Batman and Superman or DC fan in general by the way the characters are written.

The voice acting is great. They could have done better with some of the characters, but I applaud new comer Summer Glau for voicing supergirl. This was I believe her first voice acting role. Though she could have done better but overall she was good.

If you're a DC fan you'll definitely enjoy it but feel a little disappointment.

it will catch you off guard
27 October 2013
It will catch you off guard and shock you by the end. It seems so stimulating at the start but as the movie develops you wonder "why am I watching this?". It confuses you as to what the hell is going on. Awkward moments and bothersome ambient noise will blur your attention. But if you're open minded and curios enough it will set the viewer for what is really to come.

what is brilliant about this is that i think it does that on purpose; to get you nonchalant. It seems like you know what is going on but it springs you off later on.

Though the plot is at praise, the acting is really mediocre and the visual and sound effects may seem unsatisfying. But it was the 60's (you could say late 50's) so what could you expect? And it's kind of ludicrous to try and compare it to modern films but it's hard to refrain from that. the shower scene is really iconic as well as the intense music used.

X-Files meets CSI
26 October 2013
X-Files meets CSI. Solving mysterious cases that goes beyond the realm of modern science. isolated cases become apparent that everything adds up to a much larger picture; a grand plan called "The Pattern", and gets them chasing after something almost far beyond what they can comprehend.

The way each episode leaves a cliff-hanger-style per episode is unique. It leaves one questioning and curios about what everything leads up to. It's quite a slow but a steady story to follow through. It also has its flaccid moments but will guarantee to step up later on.

To be honest i started out nonchalant since the flow was slow at start. But then when everything escalated i was more than interested to follow through. I am a huge fan of sci-fi that is why i enjoyed the series.

definitely a sci-fi classic!
26 October 2013
Definitely a sci-fi classic. It is very advanced for its time regarding set design and visual effects. I may not have watched it at the time when it was out but I can imagine how it would impact the audience at that time.

It's also filled with gore and violence that will make one flinch. It will also send ones pulse racing as the intense moments filled in. However, apart from all the action there's barely an adept dialogue to follow through making some scenes tedious. Evidently, i guess it's part being a thriller; slow and steady until reaching a high tensioned climax.

Some moments are predictable, coz i guess my generation is jaded by the "horror formula". But for its time i can truly imagine it being praised to be a step forward for science fiction films as well as thriller and horror.
