Hustling America (2013)
Great show so far
For those of you that have watched the real hustle in the UK this show is set in a similar style, with Alexis Conran of the former series doing a great job as host and presented of this show. This show is welcomed in my eyes as the real hustle was going a but stale after so many series. The premise of the show is for Alexis to travel around America's largest cities whilst hustling the locals at their own game. The first episode i watched was episode 3, set in New York. In this episode Alexis pulls the wool over the eyes of multiple stereotypical New Yorkers, this is made to seem more remarkable as they know how to deal with 'wiseguys'. To conclude this show is an excellent fix for those missing the hit BBC show the real hustle and does not disappoint in any way. (Maybe a bit of eye candy to replace Jessica-Jane Clement from the original real hustle wouldn't go a miss)
Deep Impact (1998)
'Realistic' alternative to Armageddon? Not for me
I have never composed a review of a film, but was compelled to after watching this movie. This is due to the fact that prior to viewing I was expecting a more serious movie than Armageddon, which it is, but for all the wrong reasons. My main gripes with this film are in increasing order of potency; scientific inaccuracy, irritating decisions made by characters without reason to create tension and spells of horrific acting. Standard to sub par acting all round was extenuated by the expected brilliant performances by Freeman and Duvall, with a small few other minor roles portrayed with the realism i came expecting. The visuals were good for a movie of this age, this is the reason the movie failed to win the audience award for the 'so bad it's good' category. I do however think the premise for the film was great and would love to see a remake of this film with modern visuals, less of the gripes listed above and a really solid casting crew.
