Bore to the Core
18 March 2007
Probably amongst the hundreds of Zombie flicks that have come in last couple of years, this one probably does 5% better than others. But the positives end there and i am really scratching my head on why would anyone try the same recipe as thousands of others with probably a very little to differentiate amongst them.

In this movie, you probably know whats going to happen and exactly how within 10 minutes from the start. While the former is not really a wrong thing, but the later one would be crime.

I give this movie a 4 star purely for its Cinematography and brilliant performances from all the Zombies (:-)).

I have heard that we are going to have a second installment of this series very soon!!

Very interesting Indeed

I had this DVD from a friend for quite some time, but because of its low ratings on IMDb, i just kept pushing it away. Let me tell you i am really glad that i did see this film last night and am very impressed. The most striking feature of this movie is its Direction and Sound. Frank Flowers is a very talented director and i wonder why hasn't he got enough opportunities after this one. The Fact that movie was made in 2004 impresses me the most because of its very contemporary style and techniques. Movie is a plain Scam-thriller and goes about its job of presenting it in an extremely interesting way. The story line is quite simple but presented in a very slick way. You never feel that movie slows down at any point of time and its quite nicely stitched till the very end. Except for some average acting from lesser known actors (not Orlando bloom) in the movie, i cant find too many defects in the movie.

I am really looking forward to "Trespasser", the next from Frank.

Hardly entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
I had a misfortune of watching this film last night and oh boy what an utter waste of time. this movie is plagued with too many shortcomings to even make it an average movie. Film starts with such a non starter, it doesn't give any feeling of movie having started. characters are Inserted in a way that you can clearly make out that they are forced upon you and it doesn't even give any time for audience to get familiar with them or build any sort of connection. It looks like movie is forcibly accelerated very soon and you see things start happening. i don't know if it was a conscious decision to make it a 100% rescue operation movie. Out of thousands of people in the wrecked ship, a handful are selected and they become your main protagonist group. While there is nothing wrong with this approach, problem in this movie is that you hardly get emotional or happy to see this group failing or succeeding in their mission points. One is just not able to build any sort of emotional connect with any of the group members.

Besides this mis-timed script, movie has some of the most wooden acts ever seen on the big screen. Acting is so below par and i don't understand what on earth made an actor like Richard Dreyfuss to be involved with such a script or a group. Same applies for Kurt Russel as well, rest of the cast is not worth mentioning at all.

I am still shocked that this movie is from the same director who gave Das Boot and Outbreak, besides some other entertaining movies.

My two cents, if you are planing to see this movie, well i suggest do it only if this is the last option for entertainment on the earth.
