Tearsucker (2023)
Do not waste your time. I did and I regret it.
Horrible disgusting unintelligible story line. Acting fair with the exception of Emily Yetter. She is a cut above. This not much else to say because there was not much of a story, plot, and subplot. Very little character development. But in order to have this published I need to write more. Okay, the tempo of the move was almost non existent. The scenes were way too long and did very little to move the story forward. I understand that this is a low low budget movie. But it's a shame they, who every they are, could have done a lot more if they'd started with a good story. As it was I am guessing most of the movie was done without permits. The quality was very poor.
On the Line (2022)
Predictable and mundane...just Okay
I get the feeling that Gibson skated through this movie. Much like Bruce Willis has done. Both very capable actors. Speaking of which, all the acting was okay. The movie which is supposed to take place in Los Angeles had a claustrophobic feeling, and not in a good way. The film lacked a lot of realism so important in a film whose location is in a big and recognizable city like L. A. The more you can create an atmosphere that puts the audience at ease makes for a bigger payoff. I won't spoil it but just know that at least half way through you will have guessed the plot and ending. It's worth a one time watch but wait until it goes down in price.
The Infernal Machine (2022)
One too many subplots
This could have been a superb, suspenseful film. I don't want to give a way anything though. The part with the then kid open fire on students in a mass shooting didn't not fit into the main plot whatsoever.
Scenes with the female police officer were a waste of time in terms of developing the story. Unrealistic things take place when she is involved.
Acting by Guy Pearce and the rest of the supporting cast is superb. Directing was well done as was the musical score.
The main theme which is wrapped up in the end of the film would have been enough.
Since I live in southern California and the location is supposed to be SoCal was awesome until I learned it was shot in South America. Oh well.
The Woman in the Window (2021)
Homages to Hitchcock and De Palma and more...
I like this film. It could have been a bit tighter...another edit perhaps. Love the stage play look. Acting is top notch. Directing could have been a bit stronger maybe with the use of more dolly shot.
Anyway, worth a watch for sure.
The Rhythm Section (2020)
Simply put, it doesn't work
Nothing really matters...we don't care about anyone in this film. We don't feel the main characters desire for revenge. The music in some parts is inappropriate. Nothing works. We know where it wanted to go...but it strayed so far that it becomes so boring and doesn't leave enough to salvage.
Kindred Spirits (2019)
Slow start...but worth the wait.
This movie was extremely well done. It's starts slow and builds beautifully with an incredible pace. The acting is top notch. The directing is masterful. The music is Bernard Hermannesque. Worth a watch.
