The Amityville Horror (2005)
Barely a decent horror movie
Not one of the greater horror movies in the genren but not among the worst either. Rachel Nicols is naturally dropdead gorgeus, but her participation in this movie will probably not be remembered by history as one of her better roles.
The horrors are slowly building up and you can see the physical transformation as it progresses in eyes of the family father, his eyes get more and more filled with blood.
The ending is dark and depressing and keeps the viewer in a state of limbo, the darkness once again sets upon the haunted house as the family takes the boat and leaves. In the final scene you can see little ghost girl standing at the stairs and the all the doornobs, clocks and refrigerator magnets are returned to their previously undisturbed state, and the curse is temporarily lifted and re-enters a dormant mode, waiting for the next visitors.
The Colony (2013)
Only half-decent
The beginning was totally OK, but the excitement ended when the cannibals entered the story, everything from here was pretty much predictable. But the most outrageous part of this movie was the ending, the last group of survivors start their march towards the safe area with no snow.......and then the movie just suddenly ends, with a cliffhanger of astronomical proportions. They better be planning for the second part where they explain what happens next, I don't care if the second movie is as bad as the first, I just NEED to know if the survivors survive the long cold march to the promised land.
If there isn't a second movie being planned then this was a total waste of time.
Primeval (2007)
Great series, like a fresh breeze
Nice series, feels like a mix of Jurassic park and Terra Nova. Eventho a lot of the actors are not wellknown internationally they are still doing a solid genuine performance.
Everything in this series is great, but the achilles heel in this series are the computer created scenes, they could have raised the series to an entire new level.
Sad tho that they stopped the series at season 5, it felt like there was much more to tell.
The story is somewhat complex with all that timetravelling going on, especially when they change the course of history and Claudia is replaced with an alternative reality version Claudia.
Its really a catching series.
Relic Hunter (1999)
Great feelgood series from 1999
The first 2 episodes of season 1 was a pain, i was on the verge of abandoning it halfway into episode 2 but something kept me watching and im glad that I gave it a second chance.
Halfway into season 1 the series made a significant change to the better and now I cant stop watching it.
Eventho the story for the most parts is a bit thin and simple, but this is not necessary a bad thing imo, because it lets the actors a chance to blossom.
The first thing that strikes the viewer is the obvious gender stereotypes being put on display by the main actors appearances and their lines, but Tia Carrere's character sydney fox is an icon representative of the women rights movement, strong, independent and ready to fight back.
