Porky's (1981)
If you want to understand how fun comedies used to be in the '80s, just watch this
I remember watching this movie a few times in my life, and each time the feeling was completely different.
The first time it was simply hilarious, and considering I was 5 or 6 yo, part of the fun was understanding less than half of the scenes and having to ask my parents what they were talking about.
Second time was a simple attempt to retrieve some memories from my childhood and youth. And look who's there, the amazingly sexy Kim Cattrall, I could not believe I didn't notice it was the same actress I had seen in other movies later on.
And the 3rd time was a task to fix it forever in my memory, while DVDs were starting to replace VHS and finding some old-time "masterpieces" was getting harder and harder (no pun intended), not long before I met my greatest gf of all times, and guess what: it was that awkward moment I discovered girls can really howl like Kim C. In that scene, and that was definitely a life-changing event 😳😁
Brothers (2009)
A walk in the woods cant always fix everything
A must watch to truly understand PTSD and similar underestimated issues. Great cast.
The main characters trio perfectly depicts the feelings and the situation of someone affected by a severe psychological issue following a trauma which will have a negative impact on his life forever.
I still have so watch a movie which can deliver the same hyper-realistic development of relationships and thoughts among members of a family where a negative event of the past will deeply change everyone's life for a long time.
This movie definitely deserves a higher rating, but probably it's just a simple movie to some people, and a perfectly detailed and realistic analysis of traumatic events and related consequences, when even a simple word can hurt and destroy someone's personality, causing unpredictable changes.
A Classic Horror Story (2021)
Embarrassing for Italian cinema
You want to make a serious movie? Then don't pretend your flop is due to the audience not understanding a trash movie adding an extra scene to justify your failure and to explain there was nothing to explain ;)
Young Ones (2014)
How come such a low rating???
I watched this movie on streaming and HQ for the second time 6 years after the first one.
Visual quality, photography, and graphics are simply excellent. Add a bunch of superb actors, starting from Shannon and Fanning. An intriguing and never boring plot.
I can only wonder what kind of movies people watch and like these days to see such a low score.
The Informer (2019)
Finally a good crime movie!
This movie deserves way more than the rating it has now.
Not a dejà vu, a well-developed plot, solid acting, more than a couple of decent twists and most of all not a single second to feel bored. And in this quarantine and post-quarantine messed up 2020 where blockbusters disappeared, it was a very welcome surprise, this is pure popcorn and entertainment time, go watch it. Had I watched it at the theater I would have been really glad of paying the ticket price!
Mediterraneo (1991)
A masterpiece
The guy who wrote L'ultimo bacio is a better movie must be a teenager high on Turkish hashish...
Time proved this film was correctly awarded with an Academy Award and 30 years later it sill holds its great value. One of the top 10 Italian movies since the '90s, you simply love it at any age, regardless of your age, probably because the situation and general mood didn't change that much.
Midsommar (2019)
Oh gosh, I should have read the reviews first
Unbearable.
Looks like a project made my some students of cinema.
Pointless and useless.
The Current War (2017)
Sadly a shame
This could have been a superb movie with a great cast. Unfortunately it turned out to be just good, and why is that? Because that's what happens when americans make movies on their local heroes based purely on fiction and partisan attitude. Tesla was the genius, Tesla was the hero and Tesla changed the world...but ok let's turn him into a marginal character, kinda like a bystander in the war of currents, whereas he was the actual, moral and historical winner, for science at least, even if the director thinks differently.
Oh gosh...it's 2020 and americans still think they own the world and history? Just like it happened with Meucci and Bell. Unfortunately people know the truth, so it's just as hilarious as making a movie where Saddam is the winner and democracy the villain. This is science and history, for god's sake, not a marvel comics movie!

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
King Arthur? Where?
I usually like, or at least used to like, Guy Ritchies' movies. This on the other hand is one of those films where I felt I have been robbed of my precious time. Fortunately I watched it on tv without spending money.
Ok, summing up...ultra-fast barely intelligible speeches, awkward CGI, stupid dialogues, ninjas, funny characters, nothing to do with Arthur's legend, but hey, there's a sword, let's call it King Arthur...could as well have been Mario Bros but who cares.
Thank you Eric Bana for giving us those few short enjoyable minutes at least.
I had to split my watching in 2 parts for staying awake. For a lover of '80s Excalibur, this is something closer to Fast and Furious than a serious epic/fantasy movie.
After all that bad CGI I was expecting to see some cyborg like terminator or robocop appearing.
Big no.
Once again, thankful to smart tvs for making me save time and money instead of going to the cinemas to watch trash.
Il primo re (2019)
Astonishing
If you need too search wikipedia to know the date and location of these events or if you need more action...oh boy, watch a movie featuring the rock or vin diesel instead, or some other garbage... this one would be too much for you and it was made for people who weren't playing pokemon at history class.
Otherwise, a great movie.

Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
No no no, Annabelle, why did you do this to me?
First time I feel pushed to give a movie a bad rating. After watching The Nun, which is not considered a good movie by critics, I was so surprised, that was a real horror movie! Then I saw this, expecting a lot, and yeeeeew, I am thankful I didn't spend money at the theater to see this pile of '80s cliché and dejà-vu.
It's hard to find good horror stories when you are 40 and you have been a fun of the genre for 40 years. Well, this is simply not a good story, it's barely a horror story. They just wanted to find a background story for that potentially inspiring collection of evil items in the cellar and made a simple and stupid one for each of them. Waxwork 30 years ago was a better movie compared to this. Why ruin such a well designed universe by linking useless and surely uninvolving stories to unveil the mysthery behind those "souvenirs"? They had the potential and the material for something great, but instead they managed to produce a huge flop. They only had to carefully select items and find an interesting story related to them, not so difficult right? Wrong. Item one plus bad story one. Item 2 with bad story 2. Item 3 and bad story 3. And then there's a doll...doing more or less the same obvious things for 3 movies...it gets boring and unwatchable. Acting is ok. Atmoshpere is ok-ish. Plot is meh...was it really a trouble to expand each story a little bit more and go a tad deeper instead of showing a series of monster with the usual peekaboo! style?
The only good thing they did is presenting the 3 main characters in a way that provided a good support for a very thin plot.
Captive State (2019)
If you know what you are watching, great movie!
Just skip the negative reviews and bear in mind one thing: do not expect an action sci-fi movie. This is telling the story of people fighting against oppression. The context is just a marketing excuse to make you more attracted. But this story applies to what we have already seen in the past century. It's basically a modernized sci-fi-ed version of a great rebellion some of our grandfathers' took part to.
Just don't watch it waiting for the monsters and the aliens with super hi-tech in independence-day style fights.
Good movie indeed! If you find it boring at the beginning hold-on, the middle gets more animated and the ending is solid.
People who disliked such an interesting approach to fights versus authoritarism deserve Transformers...
