Rap Sh!t (2022)
Sooo fun!
--I absolutely love this show! It's a funny clever story that can be sexy but is not overly sexual and is free of excessive violence. Which is a breath of fresh air.
The characters take me right back to a beautiful time in life that is typically an experience of wonder, excitement, and fun.
I was in for a surprise at how alive and fun these characters are.
This show is not deep or complicated, but it's so darn fun.
The excellent writing allows you to jump into what it's like to be a young girl in Florida pursuing a rap career. These characters have an innocence and naïveté that's charming and cute.
If you want to relax and forget the stress of everyday life, this is a perfect show. You will laugh, and you might even learn some new lingo..!
Everybody Loves Diamonds (2023)
Entertaining and fun
Everybody Loves Diamonds is a series about the Antwerp Belgium diamond heist in 20003
This series is entertaining and definitely a binge-worthy series! The acting is really great, and the characters have a corky, funny uniqueness to them.
The series takes you on twists and turns just when you think you know what's going on the storyline takes a wild turn. Although Hollywood must check their inclusion boxs rather than
tell the real story, this doesn't let you down. Just know all the characters and "relationships" are not part of the real story. For those of you like me that don't need to see certain things
you won't need to fast forward much. I only did about two to three senses. This is lightweight yet interesting and fun! I highly suggest this show!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
"GOLDEN ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME MAGIC"
Put down your phone and get off your computer or you will miss out on this incredible nuanced show that often has me in belly-aching laughter. So much of the comedy is not only vocal but also physical. Mr Maisel holds the energy in every scene she steps into Often you will get one or two great characters in each show but this show has many "favorite" characters including her manager phenomenal parents and well every other actor! THE CHEMISTRY IS "GOLDEN ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME MAGIC". Making every sense very captivating. I feel a sense of longing when each episode ends wishing there was more. I call it good old clean fun the writing is so high level they don't need violence or explicit sex to hold the audience. You will never see a "check the box" for political reasons character. The art form is respected here. You can watch and walk away with a joyous feeling. The acting is 10/10 the script is 10/10 the set design 10/10 the costume design 10/10. I can not say enough about this show and I'd say its long-standing on tv says it all.
Yellow Bird (2023)
Started cute and funny end corney
This movie starts off pretty funny much like a Kenny Powers film which is exciting but may be the worst thing to happen. Why?? Because the lead, his wife and daughter are really the funny most interesting characters and their screen time is cut drastically to make room for sub story lines & characters less interesting.
The other store employees are fun and well appointed some of there script is funny. Id say the bad apple to spoil the bunch is a completely uninteresting character named "Krystal" who adds nothing of value to the story. The biggest issue is "Plastic Martyr" who plays Krystal fails to have any real acting skills and ends up killing because they place Krystal in just about every sene after introducing the character. Krystal is destracting uses exagerated body language & attention seeking facial expressions. Its obvious Plastic is just not an actor. Lets just say thats when the film goes from funny to corney fast. Overall, I gave it a 3 because all the other actors where good and the writing is "ok" with potential. In a the world of streaming where excellent acting and writing is at a 10/10 its difficult to cut corners and check boxes and end up with a good end result. This is not terrible but fell to a 3 star quickly
Id say this is a good film to put on while working for noise on something else.
Beef (2023)
Fantastic show !
I enjoyed this so much! You will laugh and find your self wondering what will happen next throughout the show.
Its rare to watch such a perfect show from start to finish!
The writing is excellecnt, the acting is perfect and its a breath of fresh air to see so much cultural influence in a show.
The best part is this show really sticks to the story line and realistic character experiences
The "Hollywood agenda" is low on this one. For a change you wont have a bunch of substory lines or random "inclusive" characters or Public announcements on "what not to say" to push the "agenda"
I hope to see many more seasons and episodes of this show!
I hope they stick to this amazing performance!
Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. (2022)
Sad and deeply troubling
This was an excellent performance by Regina Hall and Sterling Brown and the topic is interesting. That being said, for me its difficute to watch a story with no accountable moment, justice, message of redemption or hope for those wronged. We are left with more of a public statement of how sadly broken, lost, and steaped in perversion many leaders are. How morality and values are lost even in the last place you'd hope they would still exist. Sterlings Browns character is completly void of God infact he's like a pig that has so much only deviant behavior satistifes him.
Although this is a comady for me, It left me feeling sad and hopeless for the community. A place where the value of a women is simpley to be prop is where you see fallen empires. History repeats its self and Id say this film is a warning.
The Butler (2013)
Brilliant film with substance. This script and enactment of that script is excellent ! Deep enough to feel and light enough to laugh.
This script and enactment of that script is excellent ! Deep enough to feel and light enough to laugh. Thank you Lee Daniels for allowing us to feel, this is a rare gem that is far forgotten at this time in art.
Its more often you see a film "saved" by filler to compensate for a bad script and acting, being force fed unnecessary most often perverted sexuality, 50 million cheep gay jokes & innuendos ,vulgarity, and violence in lieu of just basic good writing. The Butler gets the gold medal for not using any of this as an excuse and just making a solid film !
The Butler warms your heart on a journey through the lives of those often not heard from. An evolution of a spirit UN willing to be broke by the evils of the time. We witness a generation to generation father to son and son to father experience and impact. A light that is dimmed at times never blown out.
I really loved this because we live in a world where feelings have generally been reserved for "women and Children" basically ignoring what men may have experienced and sacrificed in great times of injustice. In the Butler we finally have an opportunity to witness the struggles and pains from a male perspective with out making him weak or unimportant.
Every character is developed to perfection and acted to perfection allowing for a human experience that touches on core emotions, real emotion. Not to mention amazing cinematography and editing. Thank you again for a film with meaning that actually adds value to the art experience !
