Blade Runner (1982)
Amazing!
When I first started to watch this I was skeptical that I would be intrigued by it. I wasn't sure if it would be out of date, especially for a futuristic movie made in 1982. But was I wrong! This movie is very well directed by Ridley Scott. It's one of those movies where you care about the characters. The atmospheric city is believable. One of the few movies that left me stunned at the end. The plot is about Deckard (Ford) who has to track down 4 drones that are looking for the person who created them. They will stop at nothing to find him. This is one of those movies that I would recommend to anyone even after 26 years. Great movie
Eastern Promises (2007)
boring
I have to say that I'm a hugh Cronnenberg fan. Loved his early movies like the Brood, The Fly, Scanners etc, but I have to say this is one of the most boring movies I've seen. I don't understand how anyone could enjoy this. It was slow, the plot was pointless. The only action scene is when Viggo Mortensen takes on two guys at once while completely naked. The first hour was slow and it was hard for me to keep my focus. I love cronnenberg, but don't waste your time on this one. It's not for everybody. Especially not hardcore Cronneberg fans like me. I can only wish that Cronnneberg goes back to his old roots because these new ones aren't growing
12 Monkeys (1995)
One word: Amazing!
I didn't see this movie for 13 years after it's release. Everyone I met said it was great but I never got around to it. Finally I picked it up and I was blown away. The movie is slow at times yes, but it keeps you intrigued and interested.
The plot is that the world has been pretty much wiped out by a virus that is thought to been release by the army of the twelve monkeys. James Cole (Bruce Willis) is sent to gather info in order to help prevent it.The movie goes on from there and it has a few twist throughout.
The last 10-15 minutes is what blew me away. It's shocking and answers some questions as to why Cole kept dreaming about the same thing over and over again.
This is a classic and I always recommend this to friends who are looking for a good sci-fi or any good movie in general. Great job by Terry Gilliam
April Fool's Day (1986)
April Fools...think about it
I for one was disappointed with the stupid ending. It was good all the way until then. But think about it....It's called April Fools, you think people are really being killed. Of course not. It was a gag to see if Buffy's idea would work. No one really gets killed. I don't recommend this to many who are true horror fans. The ending could've been better. I know I'm not alone. No real gore, no real sex scenes, lots of swearing, little violence. I guess I can give it a little credit since it is a b-movie and it was made in the mid eighties. So for those who are thinking of seeing it (you shouldn't be reading this if you haven't yet)I would say don't if your a big horror fan, but if you want to see a unique horror movie, this is definitely it.
The Ring Two (2005)
what the **** were they thinking?
I can't believe they wrote this story and actually filmed it. It was so boring. I actually fell asleep for 20 minutes during it. I've never fallen asleep during a movie. It had barely anything to do with the tape in this one. It wasn't scary, fun, funny or anything. Only two people die. I could have wrote a better one. I can't tell you enough how mad I am to see they filmed the script. Even my friend who loves horror movies and loved the Ring (She didn't believe me that the 2nd Ring stunk) she hated it. So don't waste your time. Rent only. 9 dollars for the theater and 20 dollars to buy isn't worth it. 4 bucks to rent a maybe.
Ghosts of Mars (2001)
not that bad
it wasn't Carpenters best, but it deserved better than a 4.6 rating. It had lost of action. And I think thats where people get fooled. This is not a horror movie, it's a Sci-fi action. People are used to Carpenters movies being horror. Well he wanted to try something different. Good action. Neat story line. Carpenter was using his unique mind to come up with this. I recommend this to any John Carpenter fan. I do admit this is my least favorite of his movies, but I still liked it. It has plenty of gore, swearing, no sex. Just plain action. Ice Cube did a good job with this. I love ice cube and I think he made this movie better. Give it a try.
Saw (2004)
Awesome
I saw this movie not sure what to really expect. When it was done it left me in awe. It was absolutely awesome. Well written. It keeps you guessing even till the last minute of the movie. It was one of the most unpredictable endings I've ever seen. I recommend this to anyone who is a horror or thriller fan. NOT FOR THE WEAK OF HEART. It has plenty of blood in it. It is one of the best of 2004. Terrific acting. The way "Jigsaw" makes his victims kill themselves is breath taking. I wouldn't want to be any of them. If I were anyone here, I would spend the twenty bucks to buy this. The cover of the DVD is boring and crappy, but the movie rocks.
