Interesting, maybe too fictional, and politically directional.
19 July 2023
Rationally said we see a male bonding. The grappling scene, is a key scene and I like way it creates the idea.

I definitely see that the topic is an interesting subject for an eye of a camera. However whole story is accompanied by fictionally created patterns of political views and questions which are inside the tendency of modern understanding. And there I can not be free, out of an concrete political direction...

Film is a try, but the try is not successful.

Assembled well. The director used some tools to create the atmosphere and does ask some very important questions, but film.. Too Yellow.

cheap Ideas
24 January 2022
The film is fun at first look. However, when you are warmed up it becomes the UNION of Cheap Ideas.

Behind the caricature there is the only unpolished poor humor. All of this only recreate the unstructured, cheap, thoughts of the director iN the medium of film. It is a try of creating black humored interpretation of facts. But intellectually author is on the level of cheap sit coms. So what we get is waste of time.

The frame which involves Georgian map and the dialogue which sounds Georgian is absolute nonsense. As well as the whole caricature of muslim culture represented by production design of the film.

Riad Sattouf 1/10 that is what you get all the time.

liked the fragment per fragment like narrative
21 October 2021
I see people weight it like a boring film, but I think it is not a boring film. I liked the fragment per fragment like narrative and mostly enjoyed the film because of it's dynamic style of storytelling. Need to mention that the way characters are uncovered for the viewer is good directorial decision and I liked the film visually as well. Unfortunately I also see, that the stylistic approach of director is not a purely defined and original. The story itself is not a very interesting one for me, however the details (and some scenes) were engaging.

To conclude: 7/10 in its league. Not in open competition. It is shot with 100k under the Babelsberg film school.

I like it.

Surrealistic, semi-expressionistic absurd. I like it. Montage is very well rounded. Some cuts are really exceptions. Film in total works on dream logic, but it doesn't really represent anything important.

Film is masterfully created.
1 February 2021
Film is masterfully assembled. Exceptional visual style and cinematography. Very gentle and thundering applauses to IA SUKHITASHVILI, quintessential performance. I definitely need to admire lens choice, and the beautiful look of the whole film. Best wishes to Georgian director Dea Kulumbegashvili and her entire team.

I do not need to say anything additionally, just take your chance and watch the FILM.

Interesting visual style.
21 January 2021
Interesting visual style, well rounded cinematography and acceptable slow flow. Very good work for graduation film. But somehow it is too German for me... Maybe cultural or linguistic barrier can be the reason... Truly want to see another film by the director. (Film is not for those who's searching for an entertainment hour).

ELITE director
14 January 2021
Imagine FIRST SIGHT LOVE comes in you life and you are already dead as a man. You can't enjoy the biggest love you can ever experience... That's can be a great drama of all time. Exceptional work by ELITE director. No words. I am not gonna say additionally anything about masterful work by the director as the cinematographer of the film. Monumentally great film. One of the best I've personally ever watched.

You want to see her story
3 January 2021
As soon as film starts you figure out that you want to see her story. The way director creates Frau Stern's character through the entire film is very interesting. Visual style and storytelling as well as sound design are in good shape. Decent montage and editing works well. Can also definitely say that lens choice and much portrait shots are very good decision by director.

Story itself at the ending doesn't completely fulfill my expectations... 7/10

Such an eroticism has never flowed from the board
25 November 2020
Good tv-series. Well done Netflix. It is very nice to see such a well constructed story for entertainment. The way visual storytelling and sound design shapes the Anyas character is an interesting to watch. Additionally can definitely say that leading actress is amazingly well chosen for that role.

On the other hand from the chess game perspective tv-series can be more pro like staff. I mean who are connected to chess professionally can understand, what I am talking about.

The Queens Gambit is a good naming and dramaturgically it defines main character well. For those who are new at chess, can say that The Queens Gambit is very popular and solid opening, at the very beginning you sacrifice one pawn for better development. This idea of sacrificing anything valuable (chess players do get coz they know the value of one extra pawn) is commonly connected with the main character. And as a whole story tv-show on this stage is kind of a well established and well exposed.

Eventually we need to say that the story is fictional as well as the main character. For me personally it is very beautiful to see the woman playing chess professionally. And can definitely admire that eroticism which flow out from the board by the main character Anya Taylor-Joy is surprisingly beautiful and sexy.

Not as good as 1 episode, but I still like it. The designer of several Nike shoe line is an interesting person, but the way the director uses audiovisual content, to represent life and work of the character is not as impressive as it was in the first episode. Anyway, I still suggest the tv-show. 7/10p

A very good work from director Morgan Neville, about a very good "Visual Story Teller" Christop Niemann. The form and the style of the docu is kind of the best ilustration of Christop. (For tv docu) 10 out of 10 to director. And im very happy that i just have got the info about movie's main character Christop.
