Room (2005)
The Question is WHY!?
Experimental Movie?? Umm, I guess, If the experiment portion of it was to confuse and frustrate the viewer.
This movie has absolutely no plot, no conflict, no story, no point, no climax, and of course, no resolution.
As I sat in the theater, tears of pain inflicted by this film strolled down my face. It's a pain I don't dare wish upon the worst of enemies.
I don't think I have EVER wished that the "hero" would just kill herself. I kept hoping she would have a stroke or get stabbed by the absurd fortune teller and/or silly cowboy, or simply just jump out of the stupid window in her vision. ANYTHING would have been interesting. Yet I had no such luck.
That's not including the the two minutes of irrelevant and aimless kaleidoscope (or magnified amoeba) action on the screen towards the end.
Watch it if you're looking for a reason to cry or commit suicide.

Remember getting butterflies in your stomach?
It's absolutely beautiful. I caught this movie at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and it is just as touching as it is sweet! One of the very few worth-while movies I have seen in a long time.
212 is directed by a very talented Anthony Ng who not only has an admirable attentiveness to detail but also a unique understanding of human behavior. It is practically impossible not to relate to a character and/or a situation reflected in this film.
If anything, I just wish the Vincent & Lana story line (though heart wrenching and captivating) was a little more developed, it was at those times the movie felt a little slow. But the Seth/Viv story is adorable and hilarious, and the Antonio/Ama story is charming and sweet.
All in all, I need to own this film.

wow
This is an EXCELLENT and delightfully surprising movie. Its style is refreshing, its dialoque fascinating, the performances powerful, and the story is both energetic and fun. I just caught this movie at the sundance film festival and can't help hoping that A LOT more people get to see it. The amazing attention to detail by Rian Johnson (the writer/director) and the incredible performances by Haas, Zehetner, and especially Joseph Gordon-Levitt marks this very commendable film. I remember sitting in the theater before the film started, completely disappointed by the last two films I had seen the night before. I truly wasn't expecting to be wowed or even awake, but from the very first scene I had to keep "my specs peeled". We just don't get to experience the feel of this movie anymore. I highly recommend it once it's out.
