Meet Cute (2022)
Turkeys aren't only for Christmas
What do you get when you add 2 bad actors, an amateurish script and a total lack of chemistry, well you have found the answer. From the first 5 minutes you realise you don't care about these characters and given the material neither did the scriptwriters. Cuoco tries and fails as usual to play her over the top crazy woman, whilst Davidson stands about and delivers his lines with the enthusiasm of a mannequin. Really you don't care whether any of them lives or dies, however dying this at the start would have given you over an hour of your life back. Avoid like the plague or recommend to an enemy.
The Gray Man (2022)
A travelogue written by computer
Stereotypes abound as do international settings. It seems every couple of minutes there is a new international location, usually arrived at by the usual falling airplane or kidnapped scene. The main villain is about as menacing as a day old donut, and the plot seems to be generated by a computer pulling together set pieces. Do yourself a solid and watch it whilst drunk, it will be less painful.
Moon Knight (2022)
drawn out
Firstly I thought Oscar Isaac's accent was excellent. Secondly it was too long. Whilst I love this genre I felt it would have benefitted a more concise series. Even the fight scenes whilst great, you were going "yeah we get it cut to the chase"
Choose or Die (2022)
Usual bleak sets with Hamerican accents
Why oh why do we need to endure these Hamerican accents? Why do these have the usual sleazy landlord? Why was the script written by a computer pulling set pieces from every other horror movie?
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
The woke season
Everyone including the computer is going through personal angst. Gender fluidity abounds and storyline (when not about personal history) are a mish mash of predictable and rejigged older Star Trek episodes. Season 4 ep 6 is particularly vomit inducing.
Nightbooks (2021)
The 1001 Arabian Nights now 1002?
Basically a slant on the Arabian Nights but with reasonable effects and Krysten Ritter what's not to like. Sit back and enjoy.
Man Like Mobeen (2017)
Comedic timing and script a joy
There are few comedy series where the script and the jokes flow so smoothly. The underlying tale of a gangster looking for redemption, the observations on Muslim and coloured life in Britain and the 2 sides to every story approach makes this compulsory viewing.
Assault on VA-33 (2021)
Try hard, try harder
Take Die Hard, remove the budget, acting, special effects. Have a foreign villain, a flawed anti hero with a wife in a hostage situation... It's so bad it's baaaaaaaaddddd.
NightwatchMan (2021)
Drama school at its worst
The only thing in its favour is it is short. Funny... I nearly laughed. Watch a screensaver, it is more entertaining.
Deep State (2018)
As formulaic as chemical warfare
Cardboard acting, anticipated twists, copying badly every political thriller that came before. You owe me hours of my life.
