The Curse (2023– )
7/10
Should have been 6 episodes released in 3 episodes each
27 January 2024
You'll have to watch through eight and a half episodes - that's like 7 hours or something - to get to such a weird and unexpected end, that leaps into another stratosphere.

But sadly those episodes leading up to it are just a mediocre drama.

They also only show things, but never make an actual point about how bad all these things Asher and Whitney are doing is, so it's a tiny bit subtle and if they said it literally you know Cancel Culture would jump on their throats.

Show don't tell is good in general, but here I feel they could have been less subtle and a bit more aggressive to show that nobody wants them, they are runing lives, ... But the ending makes it worthwile if you like Fielder's stuff.

More drama and commentary than comedy this time around.

This ain't it
1 September 2023
Quality-wise it's cosplayers doing a fan film. Gol D. Roger with the obvious glue on mustache, the marine dude with his plastic axe hand and the fake metal jaw. Bucky with the plastic nose, nothing feels like it's actually part of the world.

Everything looks like it's made of plastic, especially weapons that should be made of metal, keys, the one sword from the trailer.

The show also doesn't have an Opening, just the One Piece text, which is insanely lame, the intros are such a big part of anime and they just decided to not do it?

The good thing is that the pacing seems quite fast, and they probably will skip all the filter stuff.

Great editing, but that's where greatness stops
8 April 2023
I read that style-wise it had a Scott Pilgrim vs the World style, which is true. It leans into the comic visuals, and it's great at it. So I really do like the editing.

But the most important part is almost always the story for me.

For the story though it's super cringy trash, do even like 12 year old girls like this? From the rating and critics it also seems like a 'no'. The bracelet even looks like plastic trash. Why would the family do a 180° and the dad dress as Hulk even with face paint, how did the mom suddenly have 2 hulk costumes she supposedly made by herself? Story-wise nothing really fits together or feels real/relateable.

Only got halfway through Episode 1
16 August 2022
Terrible "slo-mo" scenes where they just reduced play speed so it's choppy as hell.

Bad CGI.

Badly edited, cut have been a 30 min episode.

The name remains on the chair, but everything else is supposedly gone, so even chat messages...?

Good for like 2 seasons
26 February 2022
After that it gets super repetetive, it's never really funny. I watched some episodes from season 7 and it just down right hurts how bad it is comoared to something like The Office, Fleabag or Mrs. Maisel.

Overexplaining and terrible action scene
16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode just straight up goes against "show don't tell", one of the simplest rules, constantly in this episode when Gaal is alone on the ship. She calculates where the ship is going, we get it, she does it because she is unauthorized, as established by the 10 million times it is being said before and here screaming at the ship. There is no need for here to say it. And this is done multiple times in this ship, and super annoying.

Next problem is the horrible action scene/fight between the Warden and the Great Hunter (or whatever they are called) there are so many cuts in this scene, it might already trigger seizures. Its flow is bad, it's hacked up and hard to follow. If the actors can't do the fight, either teach them or get stuntpeople to take their place. If they are already good, then it might be just bad editing. Hard to tell from just watching the episode what exactly is the problem.

Why isn't this the end?
28 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Would have been great. More "will they or won't they (again)" for Lisa & Moritz in the fourth season? Dan settling in with Fritzi. Dan is cured so he can live happily with Kira and play some Prison Break in the fourth season?

I hope the fourth season will surprise me and be actually good.

Super terrible dialogs
7 July 2021
When you can speak aling the dialogs because they are written so poorly and are super cliché.

Also the content would have fit a 2h movie way better, than stretching it over 6 episodes/4.5 hours. I have not watched the last episode yet, because it isn't out, but that won't save the horrible writting.

Slideshow flashback
19 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First half of the episode is just a flashback with 2 fps. The rest consists of 1 move from Thor and 1 from La Bü. That's about the speed of a Dragon Ball fight.

Really bad
15 November 2020
It's like The Big Bang Theory, but they are "IT nerds" as the mainstream saw them 15 years ago. The girl is also dumb, just as Penny in the early seasons. And it uses a laughing track.

Peak Television

Warning: Spoilers
How to reference pop culture and physics and give it a new spin. They perfectly reference Tron, Avatar and Minority Report (and RoboCop), respect it but make it enjoyable. The reference to light speed and Schrödinger's cat which is his drug staff is great.

Beautiful art style, unfunny writing
12 June 2020
The trailer looked good, but sadly the first episode was unfunny and boring. The style is great though and works well.

Sex Education: Episode 8 (2020)

Calm down everyone
19 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not mad that Otis and Maeve did not end up together, that's probably what will happen in the last episode. Just the way the writers do it is way too constructed. a) nobody has a phone without a passcode b) nobody leaves their phone behind c) especially not when they are going shopping

Also Season 1 and 2 ended exactly the same way: everybody standing up AND Otis and Maeve not ending up together. The show in itself is kept very simple, I get that. (I will come to that later again) The main audience is Teenagers, that's also why there are 1 star ratings based on the fact that Otis and Meave did not end up together. (Like what do you expect? The show to end after 2 seasons? Then everyone would be mad too. Maybe they will eventually end up together in season 3 and then we will get a Season 4 where they are happily together and then everyone will be mad because it's boring, or they go to different colleges or jobs or whatever they do next in the UK after that school they're currently on and split up...)

I found this season to be very interesting, it gave the side characters more story and help build the world, Jean at the school gave it a nice twist too. But now as I said earlier: the writing is very simple. If there is a problem, you can be sure it will be solved in the next episode in 90% of the cases. If they had maybe 10 episodes or maybe episodes that would be a bit longer like 1 hour some things could be shown more in-depth. It's also questionable to show your main audience, Teenagers, that it's okay to smash a car (yes it was an abandoned place, but still, not ideal.) And while it's nice that complex things are being simplified for Teenagers, some things should be told more detailed and more nuanced.

And please do not make an actual musical episode next season it's THE WORST kind of episode and CW shows just now started to do them again and everyone already hopes Sabrina Part 3 willl not have it. Just for the love of God: DON'T MAKE A MUSICAL EPISODE.

Thanks for reading my very short TED Talk about Sex Ed season 2, that came unfiltered right after I watched the finale and saw some of the reviews here.

2 stars only for Gemma Arterton...
14 June 2019
... she is gorgeous but the rest of the movie is just a trainwreck or is it a buswreck or a yachtwreck? It's just so incredibly bad you don't even know why people make such movies. I did not chuckle or laugh once and the murder thing is just boring.
