Seven Years in Tibet (1997)
Slow for the first half but quickly becomes interesting in second
Seven Years in Tibet is a movie that will test your patience for an hour and then present you with the fruit(Buddhist teachings) in next. The production designers crafted a masterpiece in terms of portraying the locations as Tibet. The character of Dalai Lama seemed like it was played by an experienced actor and didn't feel like Jamyang Jamtsho Wangchuk's debut performance. Additionally they casted few other people of Tibetan decent and all of them gave their best performances.
Extraction (2020)
Action packed with loose character build
Extraction is an action packed movie and the hand combat scenes kind of reminded of Matt Damon's Bourne. It's interesting how it had loose character building but still kept the audience interested. Kudos to the debut feature film director Sam Hargrave for compiling and shooting those action scenes. Although I would have loved to see more Bangladeshi cast since the plot of the whole movie was supposedly set in Bangladesh.
Hair Love (2019)
Simple story with deep meaning
A simple story with a deeper meaning of what people of African origin as well as many other ethinicities have to go through every morning which might just seem like a few seconds prep for some. It encourages people to stop being ashamed of their hairs and instead embrace them. Moreover, the story is about family, hope, love and most of all determination. A sparkling piece of artwork totally Oscarworthy. Another shoutout to the music production team for their efforts to keep this short extra engaging.
Joy (2015)
Inspiring story with great background scores
Joy is a movie about pulling yourself up, when everything else seems to be falling down. It is about determination, that there will always be hurdles in life, you just have to keep pushing hard. Jennifer Lawrence gave a great perfomance. The movie is well written and directed, paired up with amazing background scores. Very sharp cinematography of the scene where she visits QVC for the first time. The only thing, I wish they could have imporved was strech the scene a bit more where she was at the lowest point in her life.
