Blue Eye Samurai: The Great Fire of 1657 (2023)
Disappointing end to the series
I'll start by saying that till this episode I felt the show was a strong 8-9/10. Really enjoyed the characters, story arcs, and animation style.
This episode left me confused as it didn't feel like the show that I had watched till now.
The pacing felt all over the place and the fights just seemed unbelievable. I know the show wasn't completely grounded in reality but I lost the ability to suspend disbelief in the final fight. The characters completely changed to advance the plot at a pace that wasn't on level with the rest of the show. The story backed itself into a corner on it's own and then broke to get to the destination.
Will I watch a S2 - most definitely - but I hope it's at the same level as the episodes preceding this one.
Rick and Morty: Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie (2023)
Not the best but still entertaining
I agree this is not A* material but certainly isn't 1/10
The episode is an interesting continuation and dumb fun. I didn't mind the spin off episode and enjoyed the exploration of an old post credit scene, reminds me of interdimensional cable or mindblowers.
The puns weren't cheap laughs but ones I enjoyed as they felt obviously forced. Peter Serafinowicz is always great and Ice T as Magma Q is still funny.
There's still a lot of easter eggs that tie this to the rest of the Rick and Morty universe so enjoyed spotting those as well.
Still would rather watch this than many other shows so I would take all the 1* reviews with a pinch of salt.
