Not Another Teen Movie (2001)
Enjoyable movie
Not Another Teen Movie is about a popular jock named Jake who takes a bet from his friend Austin, that he can turn the school's ugliest most unpopular girl, Janey into a prom queen. But as he keeps spending time with her, he starts to fall in love.
I actually liked this movie. It's funny, if you don't take the movie too seriously and dwell on the fact that it has no plot. I always love to watch this movie whenever I'm especially PO'd at the world and I just need to sit back and laugh. Some of the parts are absolutely hilarious actually. I loved how the movie made fun of other movies, such as "Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles". It's sort of like the "Scary Movie" movies, except maybe not as good, but still funny.
The Godfather (1972)
A truly incredible masterpiece
The Godfather is a movie that will never be forgotten. I watched it when I was 11, and I fell in love with it then.
This is a movie about an Italian mafia family living in New York. Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) is the head of the family, and he's always been taking care of everything. The movie first shows how the whole business works, with making sacrifices, keeping promises, and getting revenge. Sonny and Michael are Don Vito's sons. Everyone knew that Michael was the smart, elite "college boy" of the family, and Sonny was the completely opposite, and someday he'd be the head, the new Don Corleone. Michael doesn't want to be involved in the family business, until Don Vito gets shot by some of his enemies because of the whole deal about whether drugs should be sold or not, and troubles start to happen. Michael knows he's the only one who he can save his father. When he agreed to take revenge to the enemies who shot his father, he had gotten himself into a completely new life filled with violence, hatred, and betrayal, a world he had never experienced before, and there's no turning back.
I'm not gonna say what's going to happen next, for the people who haven't seen this yet. But if you're one of them, make sure you see this. This movie is absolutely perfect and flawless.
From Justin to Kelly (2003)
Okay
So it's not an Academy Award nomination. It's not a masterpiece. It's just a simple movie. American Idol's first season went well, so maybe the producers just thought, hey, let's make a few extra bucks!
The plot is, of course simple. A girl named Kelly and her two friends come to Miami for spring break. At the same time Justin and his two friends come to the same place. Justin is a huge party animal, and Kelly is a sweet innocent virgin (don't ask how I know she's a virgin...I'm only assuming). But when they see each other, they fall loopy in love. The only thing that's keeping them apart is Kelly's friend, a blonde back-stabbing slut (forgot her name) who lies to them both to get them mad at each other. and it works. And then Kelly and Justin fight, but the blonde one confesses and apologizes for what she did...then Kelly and Justin make up, they start singing, then they kiss. The kiss wasn't great though, it was just boring and I found myself yawning through it. It wasn't passionate at all, and they have ZERO on-screen chemistry.
The songs were bubble-gum pop, and especially with Kelly and Justin's voices, it made them horrible. The dances were cute though, not amazing, but cute. There were some unrealistic parts, like, why were there only thin young girls in their bikinis and big buff young guys on the beach? No kids? No parents? No old people? And even if I did believe in love at first sight, did it really seem real for Justin to see Kelly once and think she's so special? He barely even took a good look at her, he just saw a glance of her when Brandon mooned in front of her and her friends....then he fell in love?
Overall, this movie was predictable. But I think for any American Idol fans who especially like Justin and Kelly, it's enjoyable, so I'm giving it a 3.
A Cinderella Story (2004)
Predictable and Boring
This is your ordinary Hilary Duff movie. Overwhelmed with innocent, cutesy-cutesy, girlie-ness. The plot is simple. Sam (Hilary Duff) is miserable. Her father died in an earthquake when she was little (wow! real creative!) Her stepmothers and stepsisters make her work. She falls in love with a football jock, Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray) by instant messaging, and he doesn't know it's her. They meet at the school dance, and she has to leave by the stroke of midnight so her stepmother won't find out that she wasn't working at the diner...then she drops her cell phone on her way (which is a replacement for a glass slipper...cute), and Austin tries to find her, and blah blah blah, you know the story.
That's just how the whole story went. SO unbelievably, disgustingly predictable. Of course, the beautiful blonde Miss Hilary Duff HAS to go out with the handsome blonde Chad Michael Murray. It's meant to be. And then there are the "popular" crew...the guys are all big dumb jerks, and the girls are all beautiful, snobby, bitches. And then Austin Ames, who's supposed to be the MOST popular guy in the whole school, is this totally nice, down to earth guy.
Of course, it's always the popular people who are so mean and evil. Every cheap tween movie has that. And it's weird, really, any bozo can see that Sam is just as beautiful as those girls in the popular crowd. And with a likable personality. Maybe they could've made it a great movie, by casting an ugly, weird girl as the part of Sam. That would've made it at least realistic. The stepmother and stepsisters are overly done. No one like those people exist. Especially the evil stepsisters. Seriously, fans, I ask you, are there people who really act like that? Come on, they're just there to make Hilary Duff look good.
The reason why I gave this movie a 2 (pretty generous of me, huh?) is because, I guess for Hilary Duff's fans, and some little girls under 10, it is an enjoyable movie. Normal, cute, predictable, plot with a normal, cute, predictable ending, I guess. If you're looking for that kind of movie, then Hilary Duff would be a good Sam. She's normal, cute, and predictable. Maybe not with the best acting, but not embarrassing either. She recorded some songs on the Soundtrack, and anyone can see she's no singer (if I hear that helium whiny voice again, I'm seriously gonna snap), but she's likable, because in every movie, she plays the good part. The innocent part.
But if you ask me, it was a cheap, boring, tween movie, that made me laugh SO much (though not intentionally) with all the worn-out stereotypes.
