Surprise: I really liked it!
14 April 2023
I started watching this with no expectations at all, couldn't sleep and it was something light. But it hooked me from beginning to end. This movie is a small apologue about self-esteem, friendship and the causes of bullying. It is set in a very human and multiethnic Rome, where coexistence and respect have value. A sort of Karate Kid transplanted into Piazza Vittorio with affection, humor, and lightness. Acting is good and all characters are credible, even though a little sketchy. Crescentini's portrait of Asia, the mother, is intense and strong and Lillo's stereotypes are working, as usual, but, above all, the young hero's acting is really good.

Breaking Bad Guy - what a surprise!
19 December 2022
I loved the dramedy tones of the whole series. A dystopian (but not so much) present day Sicily where a good magistrate goes from defender of legality to bad, very bad, guy just to seek his vengeance. The cast is fantastic, the music score is perfect, even action scenes are top notch. But, most of all, I really enjoyed the general mood, very far from the usual cliches of mafia related movies: light, tarantinesque, comedic that lets you forgive the blatant exaggerations of the plot and the numerous "poetic licenses". Spoken in Sicilian dialect, even Italian speaking viewers are compelled to use closed captions. This adds to the fun. Please start working on season 2, I want to go on!

Clever dystopian (but not that much) movie
5 December 2022
I started watching it as a a generic comedy but this odd film captured my interest very soon.

The story of a manager falling from higher standing positioning to underdog has been told a thousand times but, thanks to a straightforward plot and the intense good acting, the plot evolves recalling echoes of dystopian '70's movies, thus showing it's true face: a clear denunciation of new economy dehumanizing mechanisms focusing on customer satisfaction in the most total contempt of worker's dignity and rights.

It's an updated "Modern Times" told in light and, apparently, simple tones, hitting hard the fat belly of our society.

Don't waste your time.

Useless crap. Took me ages to end watching it. No plot, bad script, amateurish dialogues: please let the whole thing in Mr. Favreau's hands, he knows how to deal with Star Wars universe.

Too mani "bits" and excessively long
23 February 2022
Way too long. It's been a stress waiting for the end. Lovecraft bits. Dark bits. Blair Witch bits. Only Murders in the Building bits. The Ring bits. Stranger Things bits. Too many ingredients don't always make a good dish.

Tiny masterpiece
14 November 2021
Italians do it better. The plot is about two brothers meeting after a whole life apart, but soon the story develops into a sort of touching and heartfelt magic realism. Wonderful acting, clever story. Yes, we can reach the moon...

It works, I died!
2 September 2021
Unfortunately the only deadly matter in this movie is boredom. The deadly boredom hits you very soon, then works it way, slowly, being helped by one of the silliest plots one can conceive, leading you either to sleep or to die. I died, it works...

Exercise in mad cultists genre
18 July 2021
Derivative and lacking of motivation, Midsommar is an homage to Hardy's The Wicker Man without hippy culture and surrealism in the background. The absence of real intrigue is compensated by great cinematography and acting, though. Remaining in the genre, I suggest watching "A Classic Horror Story" by De Feo & Strippoli.

Clever, a gory feast for cinephiles
15 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Spaghetti Horror at his best. Reminded me of "the Wicker man" with hints of "Cabin in the woods". It's a romp in the horror genre rooted in italian lore, cleverly constructing the film with a "movie in the movie" trick. The script, willingly excessive, mixes "Gomorrah", film clichees and campfire legends with humor and rhythm. Good acting and great photography. I enjoyed it, a lot.

Yes, I liked it... dot
3 June 2021
Is this a good movie? No Is it funny? Sometimes So why I liked it... Because it's Kevin Smith, talking about Kevin Smith's universe, that is crowded by Kevin Smith characters, interacting in tongue in cheek puns, that are meaningless unless you are in Kevin Smith's universe, that is crowded by Kevin Smith characters, interacting in tongue in cheek puns, that are meaningless unless you are in Kevin Smith's universe, that is (repeat ad libitum)

Too many threads... that's confusing
24 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Cannot say it's badly made, action is fast paced and some moments are intriguing. But there's top much, simply too much. Rockets, Russians, Koreans, the Intelligence, the mind conditioning, the double and triple play, the heroine, Paris France, places scattered here and there in U.S., generals and soldiers, an unbelievable body count ... please hold your fantasy and give us something credible!

Time badly wasted
1 February 2020
Total crap. The story is not interesting at all, or, to say better, is a mish mash of already seen and told stories. Acting is so stereotyped that you can foresee what's going to happen minutes ahead. Music score is awful, always underlining action in an obviously dramatic bombastic way. No hints of humor (who quoted Santa Clarita Diet has problems, believe me). No hints of suspence. No hints of intelligence. Watch Sabrina instead, it's the exact opposite, thank God (or should I say thank Satan?).

Better than expected
3 November 2019
Put Scott Pilgrim, Zombieland, Mad Max in a blender, add a lot of irony, a pinch of wacky mood, a dash of camp and serve chilled. Very good.

This Stuff Ain't Good
22 October 2019
Nothing to say about acting quality, especially Guerrero's, nothing to say about SFX, top class. It's the damn story that is so boring I am having a hard time watching it! Dull, stupid, not attractive, full of holes, circonvoluted. This stuff is just a half step up above the abominable Umbrella Society. Each episode is a real mess. Not worth the effort .

Hats off to Undone
14 September 2019
A story that couldn't be more touching, intriguing, complicated and fascinating had to be told in a different way of narrating and describing. The whole works seamlessly. There's a touch of P. K. Dick, a hint of Gilliam, a sprinkle of Allen, a nuance of Miyazaki and no trace of Disney. Wonderful... I am at Episode 6 and felt compelled to write this.

Wow! It's a masterpiece.
7 September 2019
I was confused, at the beginning. Puppets? The revamping of an old story? In this digital era? The more I watched the more I got intrigued... it all makes sense, the metaphor of this beautiful story couldn't and shouldn't be told better. It's like watching an alien and wonderfully complete environment through a magnifying glass. I want more.

Super fun gillianesque story
4 June 2019
Love it! I just finished watching "Good Omens" and I am starting it back again. What a clever adaptation of a book I thought was hard to use as a film plot.

Wake me up when something happens
15 May 2019
I said: "What a cast! Sure it's worth watching!" No; this crap it's boring, with no plot, no story whatsoever, the only plus I had it's that this movie accompanied me into a dreamless sleep. They should sell it in drugstores.

Dull end of a dull season
3 May 2019
I have had my problems watching the whole season. The first season ended with a blast and I was waiting for a climax, but nothing... all the episodes were a long exhibition of glossy hip stylish trendy images with a very small amount of story in them. The last one was pointless as many of the others. Not sure to be willing to watch next season.

Binged it! What a show!
22 April 2019
I see negative reviews dealing with the previous movie... I didn't watch the film, I watched this and this is one heck of a show. Cleverly directed, cleverly plotted, cleverly acted. I particularly loved the European locations, these gave the show a distinctive flavor, far from the usual USA settings.

Wow that's a show!
23 January 2018
It's my first review, but this time I felt the urge to express how impressed I have been by this little masterpiece. Actors are great, story is great but what has really caught me is the profound compassion shown for these two fragile and sincere kids. Since 1971's Harold and Maude the subject of becoming adult has never been so touchingly and sensitively treated. I have watched all the episodes in a row, never happened before...
