Ostatnia wieczerza (2022)
Good fun
Went into this without knowing anything about it, which I think is probably the best way to watch it. I think some of the reviews on here are a little harsh, it's well acted and has decent production values, which add to the atmosphere. If you fancy something different to the usual Hollywood fare, then you can do worse than spending an evening watching this. I watched it dubbed, which was surprisingly not as distracting as English dubs usually are. Netflix seem to be promoting this quite heavily now, which suggests it's t has found an audience. Well worth a watch for some very memorable imagery, a decent story and moody soundtrack.
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One (2021)
Fantastic
This really is a return to form for animated Batman. The animation is top notch, and the portrayal of Gotham is superb. The voice acting is note perfect, my only complaint is I wish they'd release it as a compete store!
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Not bad
I agreed with one of the other reviews on here, the lack of a 'tournament' is a bit puzzling, and could have elevated the movie into something special. The film is enjoyable enough, particularly the scenes with Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Some of the dialogue is hilariously bad, but I suppose that comes with the territory of video game adaptations. As most other reviews have stated, Kano steals the show, I hope to see more of him in any future sequel. The soundtrack is decent too.
1917 (2019)
Sensational
Truly a cinematic achievement. The cinematography and soundtrack are both top notch and really bring the film to life. The acting is also first class, and you really feel for the two protagonists and their seemingly impossible mission. A must see on the big screen.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Up there with his best
Ignore all the negative reviews on here, this is a wonderful movie. While it is leisurely paced, it is an immersive masterpiece that will no doubt split opinion among fans, but will definitely find an audience.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
worth a watch
This was panned upon its release in the cinema, and I'm not sure why. It's a big dumb fun popcorn movie which delivers some good monster vs monster action. Leave your brain at the door and enjoy.
Mandy (2018)
A treat
Surreal, druggy, violent and a superb soundtrack. Nicolas Cage in a career defining performance. I had seen the trailers and didn't know what to expect, and I still can't fully process what I watched. Dive in and let the movie wash over you, I'm sure some will hate it, but it had me intoxicated from the first frame.
The Predator (2018)
Oh dear
I had high hopes for The Predator, even after news broke that extensive reshoots were underway. How misguided I was. The Predator falls flat on every level. The editing is awful, and the film is all over the place in terms of tone. The movie is in desperate need of a bigger budget, with set pieces talking place in such exotic locations such as a school and a quarry ( bringing to mind the Family Guy sketch 'Danger in Cincinnati'). The CGI in the last 20 minutes or so is on a par with the end of the Mummy Returns.
The biggest thing playing on my mind after leaving the cinema is this: if the 'normal' predator has brought that suit to save the human race from extinction then why does he spend the first half of the film killing everyone? The mind boggles.
