Powerful film
2 March 2014
Dallas Buyers Club throws you straight into the deep end, with no floats. They don't dance around the facts, and reality hits you hard. Matthew McConaughey slims down to an incredible size for this role and plays his part with huge conviction. The story tells of a man who goes to hospital for a work related injury, to be told he has HIV. Doctors tell him he has 30 days to live, but in denial takes no notice of the warning. Finally, he comes around to his disease and finds AZT is the only drug that can prolong his life, he goes in search for it it Mexico. Jared Leto plays an amazing supporting role, as a Transgender patient also with HIV. Fantastic direction, but will definitely not be appreciated for its full potential by some, because of the nature of the film.

Taken 2 (2012)

Not as bad you might think.
1 March 2014
If you are going to compare Taken 2 with the first film, you may be disappointed. Only because the first film, was ridiculously good. But I thought, I will watch the second to see where they might of gone with it. I personally didn't find it boring, I believe it still had great action and real threat, which is what you want. I do feel that Liam Neeson is undefeatable in any way possible, and therefore you know he isn't in any REAL danger, but because of this it gives for great fight sequences. I am glad that they didn't completely destroy the name of Taken, even though it was slightly weak in the sense that escaping or defeating enemies was easier than it should be.

Understandably, I know why audiences may be angry or let down because it matches nowhere near the class or capability of its potential. But, treat it as a wrap up film, for the first and you can enjoy the fast paced action ride that is Taken 2.

Brilliant
1 March 2014
Normally I stay away from drug related films, as I don't understand it all too much. But seeing as the film had Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston in, I thought I'd give it ago. I was surprised to say the least, and impressed because it wasn't what I thought. Will Poulter created a perfect socially awkward Kenny Miller and Jason Sudeikis really kicked it up a gear. I found it hilarious from start to finish, as the plot unveiled the storyline became clearer. It was honestly a great movie, and I found myself laughing 85% of the time, with a great cast but simple enough storyline, the film delivered on many levels. Must see movie, even if you just watch Jennifer Aniston.

Outstanding
1 March 2014
American History X is one of the most powerful films that has been to cinema. The storyline is about a nazi skinhead, who tries and saves his brother from a life of destruction and joining up with a nazi group. This happens everywhere, and for the story to be brought to life from our education and entertainment was outstanding. Edward Norton plays such a critical role, and is so believable as the characters its scary. An excellent production, turns so many heads as the gripping and brutal truth comes out about how some people think and act. This film is truly a great one, and extremely pleasing. The direction is fantastic, and acting is second to none, because its so gritty there are no over dramatics. American History X is a classic, it is a must watch.

Hello Ladies (2013–2014)

Amazingly hilarious.
27 February 2014
Hello ladies is exceptionally funny, with perfect comedic precision. The storyline is cute because you can relate with it being set in America it has the best of both humours. English humour American produced, the series has some outstanding jokes. Stephen Merchant is underrated and is extremely talented, its worth a watch to be able to appreciate it fully. Stuart lives for one thing, happiness and all he seems to get is rejection, no matter what he does. As well as having a hot house mate living in his fancy outhouse, he is no closer to finding love. Very cleverly made and exceptionally funny. Its a must watch and everything about it will have you wanting to be friends with Stuart.

Classic! Must Watch,
26 February 2014
Shawshank Redemption is one of those films, where after watching are happy you invested your time in. The story line is simple, but the way it is made is terrific. You instantly root for Andy, the main character because he so likable. Upon watching this film there was so much hype around it, and I had to know why. Many famous scenes are recreated in other movies, and you will understand and respect the depth of it. Morgan Freeman gives a performance of a lifetime as per usual, and creates a wonderful film alongside Tim Robbins and other cast members. Frank Darabont clearly wanted to go out a create a masterpiece, and truly succeeded. There is no way this film can ever be forgotten, see for yourself.

The Family (I) (2013)

It's a film you can watch.
24 January 2014
I thought a lot of this film, because of the trailer. But ended up being quite a bit different.

People have said Robert De Niro is washed up, and is just producing sewage into the pipeline of film. I disagree, yes he has credentials to do what he likes, and still has the talent.

The movie represented the life of a gangster in hiding, and what you might expect to see from De Niro, might not be what you get, admittedly.

But still with a good support cast, and the talent involved the film was enjoyable. Yes it wasn't a classic, but it was good.

The Family, was enjoyable. It was good to see the careers of three big name, pave the way for youngsters in John D'leo and Dianna Agron.

Mob City (2013)

Mob City Episode 1
18 January 2014
Frank Darabont knows exactly what he's doing, from a great cast to awesome screenplay, this is a hit. For me, I love film noir especially when its about mobsters in the prohibition era. Jon Bernthal, Jeffery DeMunn and Andrew Rothenberg from The Walking Dead, and Robert Knepper from Prison Break, the cast is brilliant. Everything about this first episode, sold itself to me. I was extremely impressed, and cannot wait for the next episode to unravel. The plot can go anywhere within reason, and if you don't know too much about mobsters lifestyle its all new and exciting stuff to go ahead and watch. Simon Pegg stars also, so that's a bonus.

Gritty and True.
5 January 2014
What doesn't kill you, makes perfect sense for this film. It seems Paulie and Brian (Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo)do everything they can to survive in South Boston.

Growing up together, Brian and Paulie go through everything to be able to live and raise families. This gritty story can't be more realistic, with the real life events come to life.

Living in tough times is relatable to more people than realised, that's why this story really hits home, with brilliant screen play by to of the most highly underrated actors, Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo.

7/10 for this gritty drama.
