After Midnight (2024)
Love the format
I'm so glad they brought back this format. I was a huge @midnight fan and this is a very welcome continuation. Taylor's a great host. Much rather be watching this than any of the late night talk shows. It's an also a good way to keep up with what's happening on the internet as that's the the whole point of the show. I hope it continues to grow and find its voice because I think there's room for improvement in the segments (looking at you Emoji SOS). I wonder if we'll ever see Hardwick make an appearance. Probably not but one can only hope. I loved seeing Doug Benson and Paul F. Tompkins as they always make every show they're on just a little funnier.
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
A step away from Looney Tunes
This movie is way sillier, classic
cartoonish and pun-tastic than the first, which is why I enjoyed more. Absolutely dumb fun!
Salma Hayek was definitely the show stealer. And Antonio Banderas as a Greek (and not even attempting to change his accent) like What the??!! Horrible but hilariously so.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018)
Solid Reboot- Ignore the haters
First off, the people complaining about this show enough to give 1,2,3 Stars are mostly the "how dare they ruin my childhood" nostalgia junkies that can't let go of any previous views and enjoy reboots as a new experience. Also, News Flash, 80s shows were terrible, especially He-Man and She-Ra. Did I enjoy them as kid? Of course! The ideas and concepts of the show were great. But...THE ORIGINAL SERIES DOES NOT HOLD UP. The animation is terrible, they cut corners and made it as cheap as possible. The stories were simplistic and unoriginal and the voice acting was as bad as it got. 2018 She-Ra is much more engaging, the animation is pretty cool and the characters actually develop throughout the series. The story may be be a bit derivative (think Avatar: The Last Airbender) but there's enough originality to set it apart. I tried getting my 2 girls, 8 and 13, to watch the original several times throughout the years but they couldn't handle how corny it was. They loved this series from episode 1, and they're pretty discerning on the shows they like. The only thing I didn't like was the godawful theme song that for some reason only starts on episode 3.
What Happened to Monday (2017)
Not terrible but not great
It's a pretty dumbed down take on dystopian sci-fi. I like the premise though so it kept my attention. I just felt like things were overexplained and super obvious. I thought the fight scenes and coreography were pretty good too.
