Aquaman (2018)
Should have been doing something else
Very disappointing, all around. Kept watching, hoping for some redeeming moment, didn't happen. Very poorly done, cgi, cast, storyline. Bleecckkk :(
Cypher (2021)
Poor dialogue
As much as I do like the storyline of this series, I have a hard time overcoming the dull and unimaginative dialogue. It is slow to say the least. The acting is not top shelf either but suffices. I am forcing myself to watch just to see where the story goes.
Ladybug Ladybug (1963)
Period realism
This really catches the thread of what it was like during that period in America. The fear of nuclear war was embedded in everyday life and seemed to be an inevitable fact. Civil defense shelters were marked everywhere and classroom drills were frequent. It was a time of great insecurity, not knowing who would flip the switch. The government and the media worked in concert to convince the public that nuclear war was not 'maybe' but certain.
The black & white film is skillfully assembled with striking cinematography.
Well acted and well written.
Recommended for anyone to explore the history of American culture.
Banshee (2013)
Banshee Season One
Wow. I am hooked, lined and drowning on Banshee. The first season, which I watched on Amazon Prime, totally blew me away. I believe this is my new favorite show. Second season on Prime as well, and I will be watching it shortly. Never heard of it before and just came across it browsing the eligible Prime choices. Never expected this. I would recommend this to anyone who liked Justified or Reservoir Dogs and has a high tolerance for violence. It is very graphic, not for children by any stretch. Well written and acted, it is a definite keeper. The plot thickens with every episode and keeps you on the edge of your seat, it did me at least. I will be checking to see if there is a book, it would have to be even more graphic than the show.
