You're in Charge (2013)
Hilarious, uplifting crowd-pleaser
This family comedy has it all - Truly moving performances from an ensemble cast of apparently just-discovered Cajun actors plus Mary Kay Place. The writing is snappy and clever, and the story is at once classically American, and totally unique to where it was filmed in Lafayette, Louisiana.
A lovable screw-up named Eddie is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his family, but always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (at one point, that includes in the middle of a scandal in the Cajuns national football championship game)
And he's often accidentally dragging people into the mess with him
but he has so much heart, you're rooting for him through all the absurd things that happen. At the same time, the matriarch Mary Kay Place is trying to keep the family together, and Eddie's sister and brother-in-law are getting ready for a home birth of their baby which is a wild adventure in and of itself.
I laughed and cried, and a lot of both at the same time. Highly recommended. Bonus, awesome soundtrack and score of Cajun music i.e. the Red Stick Ramblers, David Greeley, Dirk Powell.
