Eternals (2021)

Why change the canon of Eternals? Why?
5 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I did a bit of reading about the Eternals in the comics. Canonically, Sersi (Gemma Chan's character) has the on/off relationship with Makkari, not Ikaris. Ikaris is played by a white male in the movie. In the movie, Makkari is now a black woman with a hearing disability. In summary, Chloe Zhao literally rewrote canon so she could watch her white male and asian woman sex scene fantasies come true.

The Latino leader was always hinted as being very close with the Asian character, and Zhou could have easily put in whatever romantic stuff she wanted there, but instead, both were killed off fairly early instead. Literally sounds like to me that Zhou had a diverse cast put so she can scream about how progressive she is, and then immediately has them killed off or emasculated so she can dominate the movie with her white male/asian female sex scene. Chloe Zang went out of her way to change the comics to push her white male fantasies. Diversity just for the sake of diversity. Typical Hollywood.

Three episodes later still waiting for invasion
23 October 2021
Where is it? If I wanted to watch a character drama i would watch that. I am here to watch alien invasion. So where is it? It's not a bad show over all if you just want to watch people going through personal and relationship problems but that's not what the show is really about is it? Kind of misleading title really.

Kdrama audience belongs to a cult
20 September 2021
No other way to explain the 9.0 rating of this show. It checks every single cliche you can imagine. There is nothing new or surprising about this show. You have seen it all many many times before. We already know how this is going to end regardless of the unnecessary forced love triangle half way through the story. Some scenes and stories drag on. Too much filler content to stretch it to 16 episodes.

I was reading the reviews and people are calling it "refreshing" (imagine that) and someone was complaining how she can't hold on to a relationship because she compares every man she meets to fictional Kdrama romantic hero. Good God. With audience like this no wonder this show has almost perfect score. 😅

lol at people cheering diversity.

Does Hollywood diversity only mean pairing white dudes with asian women? You know there are men of other races in USA (the so-called most diverse country in the world) who are equally capable of playing leading men roles? How about a black man and asian woman? An indian? No? How about Mexican actor? But nah. Gotto keep repeating the same so called cliche diversity of white men/asian women pairing to drum up the fantasy of romantic white men in Hollyweird. Sadly lot of Asians buy into this nonsense.

Who is writing these shows?
1 March 2021
'a Korean-Italian mafia lawyer' ehh? allright. Only problem is nothing is convincing about the character. Maybe its the writing or that actor himself but there is no authencity to him as an italian lawyer. Not to mention all the cliche you would expect from a Korean show surface within first two episodes. Koreans obsession with Europe and how they romantacise west in their shows is another topic for discussion which i wont get into. But have you noticed that the main lead in korean shows always have some connection with west? I guess it makes them cool and someone with higher status if they have some Italian, American, French etc in their background? anyhow. It could be an interesting premises but so far nothing seems to convince me that he is some hardass lawyer. Everything seems too forced. 4/10 for me.

Not for the kids.
23 February 2021
I don't know why some people are calling it a kids show. It's full of blood, nudity and violence. Not something you will show your kids.

First three episodes are little slow. But last two episodes really kick things up several notch. The final episode is the best one no doubt so if you stick by it the final pay off is worth it. It's from the same guys who brought us "Dark" so even when it's average its still better than most science fiction shows i have seen this year.

Good special effects won't hide the terrible acting.
6 February 2021
Why Asian movies always has such terrible supporting cast when they hire foreigners? It's a mystery to me. Chinese movie "wandering earth" had similar problem. Would have been better if they had all korean cast. This movie has some of the most terrible acting I have seen in recent past and I seen a lot of movies in 2020. And the editing? Definitely headache inducing.

Viewers are too spoiled these days.
4 January 2021
This is a solid show. Visually pleasing, good production values and talented actors. I have never read Discworld so I did some research. Found out that this show is 'inspired' by Discworld. Just inspired not based on it. And yet reviews are all about how it desecrates amazing Discworld. *Rolls eyes*

If anything I have learned from movie franchises such as Star wars and Star Trek is that majority of the fanbase is usually toxic and rabid when it comes to how they place original work on such a high pedestal. And it's best to ignore them and enjoy the new iteration with an open mind.

HBO does it again.

Another hit show. What an amazing pilot. Absolutely loved it. The racism is more scary than the monsters. Maybe that's the point. Certain demographic of people who refuse to face the huge problem of racism in America are going to hate it no doubt. But for rest of us this is amazing story telling touching upon subjects which are as relevant today as it was in 50's.

Only downside? I can't binge watch the entire show.

Tried too hard to copy Hollywood
20 July 2020
The reason first movie worked was because it had a heart. It's almost cruel how much the film tugged at your heartstrings.

Train to Busan wastes no time getting to the point, the build up only takes a few brief scenes, then the madness captivates the rest. We see the outbreak from beginning, middle and end within the narrative's run time. You have time to develop empathy for each character, their backstories, and connections to one another fleshed out in small bursts throughout the film. While the human condition is in question, the narrative also explores societal themes, which are all perfectly juxtaposed with gory yet skillfully crafted action sequences.

This movie on the other hand may as well be directed by Michael Bay with pointless action and explosions. It tries too hard to be like Hollywood action movies and it shows. I will pretend this movie never happened.

Terrible casting
17 July 2020
If we have learned anything from shows like "The Witcher" and "Games of Thrones" is that how important right casting really is. None of the actors are convincing enough to play their respective characters. Acting is terrible over all with some decent CGI. Nothing in this show is new and refreshing. You have probably seen all of it in numerous other fantasy shows and movies. If you give this show a pass you won't miss anything. It's one cliche after another. I would be surprised if this show gets a second season.

I hope there is a sequel
10 July 2020
This movie feels like a setup for a sequel. Not much is explained in the movie. Lot of questions left unanswered. However, the premises is intriguing and has lot of potential for new storylines. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that future sequels gives us a deeper look into the background of all the characters. Over all I enjoyed the movie. Good action and fast paced. 7/10

The most exciting thing about this show is it's trailer.
3 July 2020
Starts off well and then fizzles out by the time it reached its conclusion. The middle of the show drags on with plot going nowhere. The weakest part of the show is writing. Acting is above average. Shot well and production is of high quality. If they get new writers for the second season. It stands a chance of being one of the best Netflix shows. But for now it's average at best.

Just give us another good sci fi show Netflix!!
26 May 2020
Netflix has too many shows that focus on teens/ highschool. But this one isn't even that good. Below average acting, unrealistic high school with unbelievable characters. This show isn't even real representation of Mexican people. The only reason I watched it is because it's lockdown and I am bored as hell. Give it a pass you won't miss anything.

I am scarred for life

Thank you everyone who was involved in this monstrosity. I will be haunted for rest of my life. Why did i even watch it in first place you must be wondering? because my best friend is huge fan of the musical and even she wasn't prepared for what we saw on screen.

Nightmarish, haunting, unsettling, weird, terrifying, ghastly, LSD induced fever dream are some of the perfect words to explain this movie. I will be laughing nervously for rest of my life every time someone mentions this movie to me.

All the actors in this movie..this is your legacy now. And you cant undo it.

Better than what i expected
18 October 2019
Ignore the negative reviews. See it for yourself and then judge. Its lot better than majority of recent shows which have been complete disappointment. The opening scene alone sent chills through my spine. I am definitely looking forward to more episodes. Limetown is very un settling and disturbing show with great atmosphere. Definitely targeted towards the older audience who want a little more substance and mystery in their TV shows. Watch it!!

Low budget, wooden acting and unlikable characters who are trying too hard.
17 July 2019
I know its not fair to judge entire series by just one episode but if this is the kind of acting and direction we going to get for rest of the season then i am probably done right now. I found it hard to finish the first episode. Pandora is dead on arrival.
