Mortal Kombat (2021)
Possibly the worst "mainstream"-movie of 2021
I don't know where to begin honestly. The acting was about the worst I've seen in a long while. As soon as I saw an actor from Supergirl was starring, I knew exactly what to expect.. and I was totally right. Cringeworthy lines that only a really drunk person could maybe find it funny or...cool. I have no idea how people can rate it so high, maybe our viral plague has numbed peoples mind completely. The fights coordination is lackluster and could be so much more intense and nail-biting. I have never seen such bored out movements and slow fighting in an action movie for so many years.
The only real positive argument I can give is that the movie do have some gore fatalities.. but it's just not enough to compensate for the lackluster movie overall. If they do decide to make another movie, they got to take a deep breath and actually TRY to make a meaningful story and something that makes sense to the tournament. Even if this is a prequel to the tournament, I never actually felt it gave any sort of leadup to it. Sorry, but I would have rather watched the 1995 version again over this. And please for all that is holy... make the characters STOP saying out loud "fatality" and such, I wanted to smash my head with a brick for how cringeworthy it sounded like.

Please no.. don't
I was actually quite disappointed with this. So many big names dropping from the comics etc made me really excited, but I felt it all fell flat. So much comedy, and not great comedy either. It was the kind of jokes you hear someone tell you and you feel like you need to laugh to not create an awkward moment, but deep inside you feel like "can we move on now?".. but it doesn't happen, because the next weird section pops up right in your face again and again. And to mention to citizens.. nobody reacts to the heroes/villains fighting? Where is the tension? Is there even a need to even create/invent these tools/gadgets if people don't even care? This new-introduced so called "cousin" as well.. if there ever was someone like that in the main plot of Batman, would there even be a need for the creation of Batman and his struggle of having no family left alive? But to also know for fact that this person is a "Wayne", a respected family for generations.. and this guy acts like a total jacka**. So many plot holes that just don't fit in for me. Long rant, sorry. I love DC and all it's characters.. but seeing this immature creation was just a big 'No'.

Story telling is very misplaced
I was actually happy at first to hear that there was another IP Man movie made. However, I got so disappointed when I started to watch it. First few minutes made me feel so lost with all the flying effects that feels so unnatural. I never like to compare, but from my perspective from the other movies that are made about IP Mans life.. this comes nowhere close.
I felt so lost about the story, and could clearly see that it's so made up and not really about his life. The other movies even represented his own son IP Chun as witness that the story telling was real. I got lost in all the jumping between the scenes, and I easily lost interest. As far as the other IP Man movies, I can watch them over and over again because of their originality. As far as screenplay, the movie was fairly good.. but please, it should have been about someone else.. don't drag the legend into this kind of movie.
The coordination in the fighting is well done, but the camera-work could have been so much better. All the time I can see it zooms in on the limbs and wants to show detail (which is nice once or twice), but sadly overdo it and it becomes boring (and same goes for the slow-motion effects mixed with some "epic sound effects"). And as I mentioned earlier, the effects. I really can't stand watching the people fly like they are made out of paper. I know it's a Kung Fu movie, but please.. it should have shown the legend some respect by not overdoing it. And when it comes to IP Mans character, what were they thinking. Here he is portrayed as quite boasting and fierce.. the IP Man I have learned to know through reading history was always that he's a humble man, always looking positive to face new challengers, but never to seek them.
I was very disappointed sadly.. as I was hoping for something real.
