Spirited (2022)
A good message, no putdowns.
Unlike most new age movies that aim to put a group down for being who they are, while bringing other groups up, this movie doesn't do any of that.
What I like most about the movie is that it shows how our society's cancel culture is so bad, and can have serious consequences. What happens when you trash someone over something they posted long ago, or attack them on social media to get yourself ahead. The movie does this, without using attacking any group of people too, leading to a believable story of sorts. Sure, its exaggerated but of course its a christmas movie and a musical so.
Personally, I think the movie could have been better without being a musical. The same story, same plot, without the musical numbers. Might have been more compelling for a lot of people and may have delivered the message better.
Well worth the watch though. I'm glad I gave it a chance. I don't often watch new age movies anymore.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Entertaining but stupid plot and forgettable.
Its no surprise that another Amazon movie, sucks. Full of shallow plots and people who have no reason to be there except to fill a specific quota ratio.
Lots of forgettable characters, and a plot that ultimately makes no sense at all. It tries too hard to force this whole "lets all get along" agenda too, with the war time call and all that.
They had a decent story that they could have used, alien ship crashed and discovered leading to a war, but they ruined it with a bad plot. Time travel its self is not a bad plot, but in the way they did this one, it was. There were plenty of nice effects though, but eh. The logic behind this movie was silly.
I don't really know what I want to rate this. I automatically drop 3 stars on anything that throws in forgettable people to fill a quota. I drop it another 2 stars for the bad plot lines. I almost want to drop another for some of the dumb incidents but eh. They had good effects and some interesting stuff. I'd say it -might- be worth a watch if you don't mind ridiculous plot-lines that make no sense.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Interesting, somewhat flat, new elements, but a little shallow.
Its hard to keep an interest in the story due to the fact that they have made things more flat and shallow. They started to desperately try to make people required for the story to keep them all together and it feels a little silly at times like "Why are these people here? Are they just here to fill a quota? Some diversity thing? Whats the point of this person?". It makes the movie feel shallow and boring at times. Unimportant main characters that seem to be there for no reason.
They had some interesting plots, and turnabouts, and new elements. I like the new creature that decided the leadership, a little. The creatures are always the fun ones in the series, I don't think they are used enough considering the movies are about "fantastic beasts".
As some of the other reviewers said though, this lacked some required depth to keep people interested. I feel that they need to stop trying to fill a quota, and start telling a proper story. Give the existing characters more reason to be there, make them matter. Make us believe they have purpose.
It would be a shame that this movie killed the series, especially after they left it open so we don't know what happens in the end. This series still has a chance to make a comeback, if they pull together and try harder on the 4th and 5th movies that they had planned for. In fact, they could combine the 4th and 5th into one longer movie that solves everything together if they are worried about the potential production of both.
Moonfall (2022)
Scienceless Garbage and terrible useless characters.
So, first up. Lets address the fact that they filled this movie with worthless characters that were to be killed off to make damn sure they met their social justice quota. Like that redneck white man who was a bad guy, stealing everything from everyone. Gotta kill a redneck white man if you want your movie to be rated better am-I-right? Oh and all them military guys where the only one allowed to not be stupid, was the black guy. Oh how hilariously this movie filled its diversity quota in all the most hilarious and predictable ways.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind people of any nation, race, color, whatever, doing things in any position. But if you make it as obviously terrible as you did here, it becomes laughable. You can't take those people seriously anymore.
Hah, they even claim in the movie that "billions of years ago, we solved all war and social issues". XD Oh thats great. Thats hilarious. Had to chunk that into the movie as if it wasn't already obvious enough by showing a thriving civilization huh?
Now lets move on to the science. Oh wait, there wasn't any.
The moon somehow deorbits in a week. Oxygen disappears from the surface for a few hours only.. Cell phones still work after the moon has washed away all satellites... Moon gained mass, somehow? Moon scrapes the surface of the planet and the planet is not permanently destroyed.... Moon returns to its position and somehow everything goes back to normal.
Oh and last, the fact that this movie is just an anti-AI movie. I feel like the makers wanted to make sure people come away from the movie thinking AI is wrong and shouldn't happen.
The only reason this isn't 1 or zero stars, is because the graphics were great. I loved the visuals. If only they hadn't screwed it up with the science portion. The social agendas might not have been as bad, if they had gotten even a single scientific thing accurate. I mean, even just one scientific thing. They couldn't even do that.
Rubikon (2022)
Stale, boring, nonsensical.
Whew, that was a lot of boring to sit through. This movie was just so dumb, like they made it up as they went along not knowing what they were doing.
Director: "Guys, I wanna make a movie about space. Lets begin and fill in the blanks as we go along."
You want to know what happens in this movie? Alright. I'll tell you in the best way possible that saves you the time of watching it.
"Oh we've come here to steal the station"
"No wait, nevermind, Earth is dead so now, so lets live up here."
"No wait, survivors, we should save the humans even at the risk of my baby."
"No wait, nevermind, F the humans, I want this baby."
"No wait, nevermind, boyfriend killed himself, so time to save the humans."
"No wait, nevermind, F the humans again, my baby is still more important."
"Oh hey, the humans survived anyway."
With some corporations are evil jargon mixed in here and there.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Super Woke Kid Edition.
I give it 3 stars, just for the tribute.
It loses all the rest for predictable woke drivel that has been infecting the entire movie industry with things you can literally guess before a movie begins. Also the fact that somehow a 12 year old girl is smarter than everyone around her and knows everything about everything and the world is saved by a group of kids with the slight help of the previous generation and someone who failed driving test 3 times is somehow an expert driver in this movie.
Yea, this is absolutely terrible. I will never watch it again. The story has no real substance to it. It plays n your nostalgia and pushes multiple agendas at you. Maybe if they aged the people up further, the kids not being kids, it would have been more excusable. But come on, a 12 year old who knows -everything-? Expert marksman? Has no faults or flaws? Hilarious.
If this had insulted the dearly departed, degrading him in any way, as they usually do in new age "replaced with younger generation" movies, I would have absolutely hit the 0 stars button but, they at least respected him enough to be kind to -him-. Other than that however, hot pile of garbage.
Effects and such were nice though, but you can expect that with most any movie these days.
Doctor Who (2005)
Show gets worse as time goes on. Each doctor degrades more.
I wish you could review series on a per season basis. The first few doctors were great. Lots of exciting stories and fun situations. Some of the newer doctors had some incredibly high wokeness in their situations. I'm all about equality and all but I mean, come on. Some of these situations are absolutely incredibly ridiculous.
Now there's the latest doctor and her rainbow squad of predictable talents based on their genders and colors with the white man of course, being the worst and dumbest of the group.
Oh and the fact that they touched an area that should never have ever been touched, explaining the origin of the doctor, the species, everything. Stuff that should have been left a complete mystery. I think the author of this latest series just wanted to end the series so he did everything possible to destroy all of it. They probably ran out of ideas because being imaginative is so hard these days.
Don't worry kids, I'm sure if you go back and watch a few seasons back, you'll find some entertainment still. But as of the current seasons, I must rate this a 1. The only reason I rate it a 4, is because I can't rate all of the seasons individually. There is no future for Doctor Who anymore. It cannot recover from this, ever. It has been entirely destroyed.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Visually fun, started interestingish, got boring.
It seemed like they did their best to make sure all the bad guys were white men of course because agenda politics, but also to make sure that the new squad of people were even more snowflake than before. While this wouldn't be a problem if done right, they were all shallow people. They even made sure the white male bad guy used trigger words like "controlling women".
They had some decent story in there but it was otherwise destroyed by agenda politics and shallow characters. This is just a reboot, a remake, in the new age of snowflakes and percentage based equality. Nothing about it is worth watching.
I liked the premise of rogue machines working with the humans, would have been fun. It was nice to see some of the new effects and one new power in the bad guy side, but eh. I won't be watching the 5th movie if they make it. In fact I plan to pretend there was never a 4th at all, to preserve the memory of the originals.
Family Guy: A Shot in the Dark (2015)
Seriously? This one ep made me not want to see more, ever.
This ep shows Peter shooting someone in the dark and it turns out to be Cleveland's kid. Suddenly his best friend claims racism out of nowhere.. Then Lois beats Peter horribly for being stupid? This had to be the stupidest writing of all time.
After that, they use crowd based justice to force the police to arrest Peter after it was initially ruled an accident. A cancel culture type thing. With a rich white guy to the rescue by making the black kid look bad. Only for everything to be resolved in seconds with more real life political crap.
We watch television like this for comedy relief from life, but this ep was just terrible.
The Expanse (2015)
Seasons 1-3 Great, Season 4, Meh, Season 5, Ugh...
I wish you could rate individual seasons on IMDB.
The series started off great, I loved the story telling, the depth, the political structure of things. It was well told.
Season 4, Amazon is running things, started changing things a bit. It was still interesting though, worth continuing. Even though they started doing their "inclusivety" crap.
Season 5? Now its all about replacing every male character in the show with a woman who is 3 times better than him. They dumbed down all the male characters too, made them weaker, dumber, more useless. The women can withstand impossible things that no human could survive. Replacing all the men in power except for the evil side. Its gone full throttle feminism. Honestly, its garbage now.
I'm all about equality, as long as its done right. You can't just go and make a group of people stupid and useless in order to prop up another group. You can't go murdering off all of a group of people because you don't like them. Nor do you go and give a group of people god-like skill and abilities without reason. I don't care how futuristic this is, no one can survive hard vacuum / explosive decompression. You can't just, jump out of a ship, inject yourself with oxygen repeatedly and get on another ship from an airlock and no suit. Nope. Not possible. Marry poppins could do it though.
Amazon, doesn't know how to do proper equality without putting down other groups. They can't prop one up without tearing down the other. Thats most of the industry these days though. They took something great, and turned it into a political crap fest.
Gotham (2014)
Shallow, gets worse over time, boring.
I can't write my proper review, its not allowed. So all I'll say is, its boring, repetitive, and downright ridiculous towards the end. Season 4 gets particularly worse and stupid. I'm not able to say why. Trust me, its garbage. Especially with all the criminals dying and coming back to life repeatedly and all the magic.
Breach (2020)
Bad Plots, Bad Story, Bad Acting
The acting was just terrible throughout all of this. Even by Bruce and Thomas which is strange.
The plots were stupid, meaningless, and ridiculous.
The overall story was the same as the plots, but I would like to add worthless considering the ending.
This was some grade A garbage with some mediocre effects and graphics. They probably spent all their money on making the ship explode and hiring those two actors so they couldn't hire anyone to write a good plot or story.
Come on Bruce, what are you doing? You know better than to sign a contract with something so ridiculously stupid. You wanna be in a space movie or show? Choose Expanse. Not this garbage.
Bumblebee (2018)
Social Justice strikes again.
This movie isn't about Bumblebee, its about a teenage girl who has life problems like everyone else~
Short version, its lackluster. Many have said it better than me, but I'm going to do the forbidden thing and explain why this is really bad.
It doesn't pick good actors, it doesn't have good writing. It has social justice writing and social justice actors. The star of the show is a girl, go figure, who has had a hard and touch life tougher than most human beings, awww how sad :(:(:( and is better than all the men at the local mechanic shop at being a mechanic, yet somehow dirt poor. Then, as soon as I saw the individual of color who tried to talk to her I made a joke about him becoming her boyfriend or best friend, whichever, who travels around with her. Turns out to be true.
The writers, wrote this so that they could empower women and show diversity, not to tell a story. There's no story to this. Its complete crap. I stopped watching half way though it was just so boring and predictable. I have nothing against women, or people of color. Its just this garbage tries to push a political agenda on you, instead of telling a story.
Hell, now there are female transformers, when their race was genderless before. How the hell does that even work? And the female ones are smarter than the male ones. What?!?!
Good lord. Get some better writers. Stop appealing to the monitory of loud mouthed whiners and start telling stories again. I don't care who the lead actor is, or what color they are, or what gender they are, just write a proper story and not this political garbage.
Ghost in the Shell (2017)
Nice attempt but you failed.
Well, it was nice of you to try and make a live action of this. You did decently with the animations and the digital aspect of all of this.
You failed on story.
You acting was, meh.
You couldn't even find another English speaker to make it all English.
Seriously, if you're going to make a film with English audio and a team that speaks English all working under a supervisor, that supervisor should SPEAK ENGLISH TOO. Don't have everyone speak English to him and he replies in Japanese. What the hell was that? I don't watch movies to read them, I watch movies to enjoy them.
The acting was meh, wasn't hugely bad but wasn't hugely good either. If the other points weren't failures, this -might- have been possible to overlook.
Lastly, the story. You changed up the whole story of Ghost in the Shell. Did the people who wrote this movie even watch the series and the previous movies? Why do people keep remaking things and changing up the whole story? I mean don't get me wrong, you came up with a semi-interesting story that was made bad due to trying to replace the original characters. You should have used another name for the movie, not just "ghost in the shell" but some other title after to indicate it isn't a base movie telling the story of the original movies. You shouldn't have tried to replace the characters that we know and love, instead make new characters with similar modifications. You want to make a new story, use new characters. Don't piss people off by reusing original characters and rewriting their history. You'll get a lot of bad reviews this way.
Lost in Space (2018)
Can't trust IMDb anymore.
The majority of accurate reviews say 3 stars out of 10, and are generally low reviews, but IMDb claims this is 7+ stars, which is total BS, and this happens on almost every series I think is bad. IMDb has high ratings for everything that blows.
In short, lazy writers, bad writers, or even worse this show is aimed at children. One of those three, makes this show terrible, and IMDb seems to be covering it all up with inaccurate rating statistics. If they aren't covering it all up, they need to have a more accurate rating system that shows the ratings of people who ACTUALLY WROTE A REVIEW, and not just everyone who clicked a ----ing button.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Not a star wars fan, used to watch as a kid but now, never again.
The acting was questionable.
The story is a repeat, only faster.
The same thing over again.
Seems a little feminist at times.
40 year old transition effects.
IMDB seems rigged too, all the highest rated reviews are 1-2 stars, and yet its got an 8 star rating.
Goodbye Star Wars, your magic and bad plots won be missed.
