The Wheel of Time (2021)
Based on the books?
Why even say that if you're going to completely change the story? From the 1st episode, the storyline was far different than the book and it just got worse with each episode. Perrin married? Rand sleeping with Egwene? Moiraine sleeping with Siuan? We have waited a long time to see this series on screen and have it portrayed well for a fantasy where it wasn't corny with low grade CGI. We get the great effects, but the story is so distorted that it's nothing but a disappointment. The character casting had me shaking my head as well. Only a few were remotely familiar and the rest just had me asking why? Trying to fit a book into 8 episodes was also a bad call. To do that, too much is left out and maybe that's the reason for distorting the storyline? Whatever the reason, I have zero desire to watch season 2 if it continues this way.

Excellent series!
This series really impressed me. I wanted to watch it long before I did, but the length of the episodes detoured me initially. Once I started it though, I couldn't stop watching it. The authenticity of the characters was mesmerizing. I've really been impressed with the Korean actors since I started watching K-dramas. In this series, Jung Kyung-ho and Lee Kyoo-hyung in particular stood out for me. I liked them so much that I looked for and watched other series that they acted in after I was done with this one. The storyline and sub plots were engaging and the characters were believable. Definitely worth the watch!

Wow...just WOW!
This went from ridiculous to absolutely absurd the further you got into the series. I get that the Korean culture is based on respecting your elders, but come on...! The characters made me crazy with their antics and screaming and the Madam...there's just no words. I spent the entire series being frustrated and wanting to hit the writer really hard. 😳 I had been looking at this series for several months because Viki always seemed to be recommending it, but I was hesitant because it's 52 episodes. It started well and was initially funny albeit highly prejudicial. One thing that I love about Korean dramas is that the characters always get what's coming to them. In this series, you're waiting way too long for that and you're forced to endure ridiculous plot lines full of screaming, scheming, crying and characters allowing abuse to happen. In every plot line, the parents severely interfere with their children's lives to the extent that the children become more mature than the adults who are continually throwing temper tantrums and scheming to break up or force their children's relationships for their own selfish reasons. Seeing the parents happy after tearing apart their children's relationships was incredibly difficult to watch. I would have told my family to take a flying flip off a rolling doughnut from the get go! I wonder if the actors had trouble acting those ridiculous scenes? I certainly would have. 🙄 The children were great and I really liked the 2 leads. I thought they all had great chemistry. By episode 38 though, I started forwarding through most scenes that didn't involve the main characters because the other scenes were too embarrassing to watch and all promises were empty ones. So much drama over a 14 year age gap and a fraudulent engagement. It is the most frustrating and convoluted story I have ever watched. If you love crying, screaming, manipulation, repetitive script (and I mean over and over and over...) and characters doing the exact opposite of what they've been told to do steady, I'd skip this one for your own piece of mind. It will seriously make you crazy.

The story started off great...
But it was too unnecessarily emotionally extreme by the end of the series. I really enjoyed the story from the start with their background history and the growth of their love after marrying. About 3/4 through the series, I had lost all interest though. The writers made Su Jian'an's character too obnoxious and selfish to tolerate for me. While I understand the desire to be independent and work towards your dream, alienating your supporters to that extreme was too much. Even the unrelenting behaviour of the antagonist Han Ruo Xi was way over the top and had me saying, "Enough already!" 🙄
Ming Ren and Bernard He were great in their roles though. They stood out more than the rest of the cast.
All-in-all, the series had potential, but definitely ran out of steam for me by the end unfortunately.

Such a beautiful series, but the end...???
This was the 2nd K-drama series that I watched and I absolutely loved it right up to 1/2 way through the last episode. I don't understand the ending. It felt like an exec lost a bet and and had to go with the worst ending option on the table.
Nevertheless, the cast had fantastic acting skills, especially Jae-Wook Lee and Go Ara. I was hysterically crying and then having those happy memorable moments constantly as the story developed. Such a great intricate storyline that kept you engaged with trying to put all the pieces together. Just when you thought you had it all figured out, they would throw you a curveball and you had to start over from scratch.
Great series overall and I would highly recommend it. I just wish they would redo the ending in order to maintain the integrity of the characters' depth and actors' talents. To be honest, it felt like the actors couldn't believe the ending themselves.

O M G...!!!
I did not want to finish this series and did everything I could to prolong watching the finale. I was mesmerized by the woven subplots and the honesty portrayed by all of the actors...especially the 2 leads. While heavily emotional, there was enough comedy, suspense and action to drive each episode's content. Everything that I wanted to happen happened and the expectation of karma coming around; or character/relationship developments had me binge watching this series. As I was getting closer and closer to the end, I just wanted to go back to the beginning and start over again. I loved the vulnerability of Ri in Hyun Bin and Se-ri in Son Ye-jin, along with the N Korean military crew. Men should not be portrayed as emotionless statues. It's refreshing to see the emotion, respect and devotion from them.
Such a beautiful and respectful culture/country that I will visit one day. Yes this is fiction, but some of us still dream about finding that kind of devotion, respect and love. I was begging my friends to watch this series just so I had someone to share and discuss it with. Great job to everyone involved with this series. You have made me a dedicated K-drama fan!!
