The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Brilliant
Really hooked from beginning. Binged watched in a day!
You're Next (2011)
Gory and fun!
I don't understand the low reviews.
It's a slasher home invasion movie with a strong female lead.
Great to watch over Halloween!
Togo (2019)
Great Family Film
Heartwarming film, kids and adults alike will love it.
Ready or Not (2019)
Something Different!
I didn't know much about the film before viewing it.
I thought it was funny and suspenseful.
Loved Samara.
Funny!!
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
No plot, just fight scenes
Falling asleep watching this as i type my review.
Endless fight scences, zero plot.
Only worth watching as background entertainment.
When They See Us (2019)
Amazing
So sad what happened to these young boys.
Thank God they never got the death penalty like SOME were calling for!!
The compensation they received was pathetic compared to what they were made to endure and what they had taken away from them.
Great Netflix drama.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015)
Uplifting, clever writing, satirical
After watching S3 house of cards in just a few sittings, this show is exactly what I needed! It's upbeat and motivational, without being grating. Kimmy is a really likable character.
This is a funny show! I've never watched 30 rock (though I will now!) so had no real preconceptions of the writing style.
I thought the way the pilot wrapped up Kimmy's 15 years captivity up to present day clever. It did take me about 3 episodes to get into the show properly and the writing definitely gets sharper in the later episodes.
The wit used by the writers is great and the tongue in cheek humour through the blatant stereotypes fantastic!
Give it a try.
Love and Other Impossible Pursuits (2009)
Emotional, well acted, moving portrayal.
This movie had me in tears at points while I watched the struggles of all the members of this extended network of family come to terms with a loss of some form or other. And then the gradual acceptance of the situation if not, the people involved.
Definitely not a comedy but I didn't go into it believing it was anything but a drama. However there are some lighter moments intertwined into the sadness, which only made it more realistic to everyday life.

John Tucker Must Die (2006)
Great feel good rom-com!
Just watched this film again, and it still makes me laugh!
If you fancy a bit of easy watching with some good laughs then this is a great film.
Different to normal teen films, and takes you back to those school days of popularity contests and teen angst.
Good soundtrack too.
Like the twist at the end too, where John doesn't become the do-Gooder you expect him to.

I Give It a Year (2013)
Good Anti romance film
Honestly!!
I read some not so great reviews, but there wasn't anything else worth watching, so thought I'd give this film a chance. And I'm glad I did!
I can only think that some of these 1 star ratings have come from true rom-com die hard fans. What I loved about this movie was instead of saying everyone should try and work at a marriage that isn't right, it slapped the old clichés in the face and ended with it's OK to walk away and start again. Before you have children and then see the light, ruining their lives.
Anyone whose been in a relationship longer than 5 years will relate to the trials and tribulations of every day life. And nod knowingly at the parts where the lead characters heads get turned by the other love interests.
The comedy was a bit forced at times, but I certainly laughed more than what I expected after reading some of the scathing reviews on here.
In summary, not the best film you'll ever see, but was a refreshing change to the average rom-com and I enjoyed the dry humour.
