Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Great For REAL Fans
Absolutely everything that true fans could have hoped for, and a treat for newcomers too. With an explosive start that hits the nostalgia button and then turning everything on its head, to the adventure which follows, the short first season does nothing but leave you wanting more. The sad and insecure little man-children review bombing this show are not fans, they're just weak losers jumping on some low-IQ bandwagon like the drooling sheep they are. Pathetic actions of pathetic people.. If you are intelligent you will appreciate what the creators have done in this passionate love letter to a classic.
The Pilgrim's Progress (2019)
It even fails at being propaganda.
This is a religious film. Yet it's clear before the first 15 minutes are even over that the bad guys are clearly allegories for christians/catholics and the way in which such inherently evil institutions operate. I thought they were trying to appeal to the followers of these religions? Instead they're openly exposing them for what they really are through sheer incompetence, it's crazy.
A hilarious failure on every level.
Rim of the World (2019)
From Bad to Worse
I already knew I was going to be watching a bad movie, but I wasn't quite prepared for how bad. The script was clearly written for 16 year olds, but then they cast 12 year old actors so none of the dialogue or actions work or make any sense. Either that or the writer and director have never met an actual kid before. Speaking of the dialogue, it's so generic and empty that they may as well be reciting a modern top 40 hit. That's just the tip of the iceberg, every aspect of this movie is demonstrably bad.
Just watch the fantastic film Super 8 instead.
Date and Switch (2014)
Unexpectedly Good
I wasn't expecting much when I set out to watch this, specially after seeing the (undeservedly low) rating here on IMDb. However after reading the premise I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. I was afraid that the humour would fall flat and the characters would be stereotypical and the gay side of things would would be half-assed but all my worries were for nothing.
What I instead found was an entertainingly relate-able film, a good number of genuine laughs and a respectful handling of gay characters. The plot is something we've all seen before but with a twist, and thankfully the film doesn't stick to the premise how you think it would, and doesn't cheap out. It is about friendship more than anything else and that is why it works. Overall story-wise it was a little thin and there wasn't much in the way of emotional pay-off but I was left with a pleasant feeling and a new movie to recommend to others.
