Cyborg 2: Glass Shadow (1993)
Angelina must have disowned...for no reason!
I was channel surfing on Cox Cable and decided to try 'Cyborg 2' (1993) on "Showtime," on the strength of Jack Palance. What to my wondering eyes do I see but Angelina Jolie! With those lips, it's got to be her.
The cable blurb (very brief as you may know) mentioned only Palance and Elias Koteas. Clearly, the movie - not too bad, Jolie made it fun - would have gotten tons more viewers if A.J. had at least been mentioned in the cable blurb.
Jack Palance was a great addition to the movie, but he could have been more effective if he'd been on screen (instead of the Glass Shadow) earlier. One thing about him, he always gave every movie he played in, every part he played, his very best.
I enjoyed the film...pretty campy!
Quigley Down Under (1990)
A sentimental, unexpected western thriller - how's that for a quick pick!
This is the movie you want to watch if you don't like to watch the Oscar awards. "Quigley" is at his best as a western sharpshooter with a heart. "Crazy Cora" is a diamond in the rough. Enough violence to overcome all that sentimentality without destroying the balance.
There are Tom Selleck fans, like me, who need a dose of "good-guy-do-the-right-thing" every so often - without the spectacular effects of 'Die Hard' and etc - to remind us of the innocence of the Saturday matinées and the tough experiences - and happy endings - of our youth.
All Tom Selleck movies fall into this category, but this one is special thanks to Laura San Giacomo. For the open-minded unbelievers, the flick would be great as part of a double feature - maybe with "Fargo" as #2 on the bill. They have a lot in common.
