the best realistic so far indept investigation
17 September 2020
At the start, I was kinda disappointed.... but then realise its a start from scratch to whatever and whereever "the truth" leads ya to get to the truth.... where you only get what data you have available..... and logically follow to the next and from that to the next..... as each time the rabbit hole gets further, deeper and many tunnels to choose, which are open or allowed to and going around about it...... the thing is...... the facts and logical data to be analyze are still building up base on season one alone....... they are still on the stage of scratching the surface.....

if one is going to the hindsight of the progress others who've tried the kind of investigation they did (UFOlogist, organisations and other public 'truther' avenue) what they have done are much more progressing than any of them have before..... the amount of proving beyond doubt of existence and building trust among whitleblowers and other researchers/experts who would have contributed further would be mind blowing, if they are allowed to keep doing what they were doing and even maybe invent more creative investigation...... its not about the sensationalizing at the edge of you're seat every episode (they could if they added more television viewer crowding gimmick or realistic CGI reenactment for rating), but it is about getting to the 'truth'....... those are what will make them far endearing than ever....

Colonial rules the Colony
13 April 2020
I've seen this TV series when it first became available in Australia and loyally followed it to disappointment of cancellation. Because its that good to watch. Even now, after two years and re-watching it quarantine "lockdown" style, it still captures me to keep me watch binging the three seasons.

The what are the watchability about the Colony are...

  • the series are closer to "V", but seems to also belong with "hunger games, divergent and other such repression from tyranny and fascism set in the future" are kinda inaccessible to for the general people because of looking into a life too far on future time period, and this is where Colony work and even the alien reason is be acceptable because they smartly limit their visibility.

  • how it captures audience with the intriguing story line and the family unity to survive themes, along with doing the right thing for what is humanity and freedom without compromise with evil doers even if you will use evil for a means to an end.

  • the not so boring premise and developing events one after the other episodes gets you addicted to keep you watching.

  • somehow there are only few characters and actors that acted them that doesn't grow in for you to appreciate, yup, even the RAPs... and how the actors have give new better life to... "you've seen it before story line of sci-fi or war genre" in a very well craftedly acted by everyone in it.

  • Josh Holloway has this presence and star quality, and Sarah Wayne Callies has movie screen all the almost perfect actress personification (note: this is the second time around since Whispers that they both played husband and wife)

If anything... this is a glimpse of the NWO...

Colony has that feel of, "it can happen tomorrow and this is what you will be looking at would be reality", maybe not the extraterrestrial alien invasion but replacing it with the looming real reality of conspiracy elements by the elitist oligarchy wanting one world government with the bureaucracy of globalize economic technocracy over the controls of everything being admin in political system married to fascist corporatism Authorities (IGA), as masses live in totalitarian-socialist system with communism (the living in duress system of existence), as thought and secret police-gestapo-staci spying over the population, replace the RAPs as the drones, private government army as the black-ops soldiers, the "vinchy french style" collaborator government and troops as proxies and red hats - , global wannabe elitist colony Authority, to the1% political-economic powers and millionaires living in green zones, the greatest day as NWO one world religion, etch.... are closely represented as closer to what society is now going to be (even overnight), if the people don't wake up.

More like "too close to comfort" for the "tptb", that people might see the connections with reality and in waking people up from sheeplesdom. Because the not earning enough reasoning - since its been hardly marketed, as hardly anyone have known of its existence - doesn't sit well to undermined the decision of "can" the TV series. And this could be the real reason to why cancellation.

everyone who appreciate the Colony should launch a petition to continue the TV series... It is such a waste of rare great TV program.....

big show larger than most comedy act
10 April 2020
Comedy is a really hard act to do, and how one can delivery them one after the other... its harder even to where they are ask to purposely be acting and not be caught acting... more specially if one is limited in their physicality.

Paul Wight should get new bigger respect in how fluid he could be as a contemporary actor, and has the potential to be really good under the right directions (as much as David Batista's evolving into better acting as he become veteran actor). But what one gets blown away is Paul Wight is his no effort getting into his character, and whether clever or smarty the dialogues or slaps stick goofing or mocking required, he is very smooth and convincing to get real laughs. no matter how simplistic materials he gets.

He's very genuine persona can be seen as he project his own self, and being not the average "American Joe" he successfully conveys them including vulnerability, for some reason you don't doubt it. He could almost like "wish I have a dad like Mr. Big Show" and could be a model for other dads with the tough is really showing true sweetness love openly to your family.

But overall he is an epitome of a good person given a tough physicality and regardless stands for the right thing to do with conscience, which is the heart of the whole big show. and literally on his shoulder to carry.

The comedy is very welcome family wholesome of the almost 80s family sitcoms. Even though there are the elements of liberal and conservative doctrine episodes themes or scenes - that exploits political correctness and the bordering adult issues cohesion of life in society - are seem finely balance , that are not cringey to be watching with your grandparents, younger kids or impressionable teens.

Hopefully the show sticks to this and away from dysfunctional or radical family unit, or make themselves hip "the now reality TV families" that seems to lose their soul on the way.

what makes this a cult movie?
9 March 2017
because this film is a poetry...

the developing prose of the story with the abstract implying ideas (specially the suggestive narrative story telling) that synchronize in the rhythmical scenes and intense drama of passion, along the scripts playing with language from polite to vulgar.... and then there's how it's filmed rich in emotion from all the characters even by the by-standers, with an almost accurate period movie where past early after turn of the 20th century we get to glimpse travel.... but at always this film remain or kept itself simplistic in style despite the intricate weaving and integrating of the art of old world romance, dark mystery movie and sarcastic humour in suppress comedy, while the drama of human conflicts and aspirations are all in one (it all depends on your receptors at the time of watching)... or very accessible to watch...

and then there is the way of how contrasting dimensional realities (but naturally looked at as life) becomes romantic even in the hindsight tragic of titanic (distasteful exploitation of as soon as that event happened)... and then on top of even another dimension is that the story is focus on the fantasy element - huge passionate erotic romantic narration that are all base to the "keep coming back to that ultimate one-night stand" which is the center of the plot....

For instance: life in the smelters or foundry, the peasantry lower working families of rural mining processor towns, the intrigues and the theatrics of salacious subject matter have driven the pheasant existence of workers who could only dream of what's life in opulence, of experiencing real passionate romantic escapade in the midst of luxury even as a servitude (instead of just daily toiling and working to meet the basic necessity in the back-draft of small rural factory town)... sexual passion with a sensual stranger in forms of flashbacks that make one wonder of life beyond the town.... the main character's fantasy is now the town's.... whereby it begins to represent the workers' escape of a humdrum life, as all they want is to be entertained with stories of concocted true events or fantastic lies well put together..... which really is the component (patronizing crowd audience) and what is binding to the elements (the story telling or narrative) of the film...

what really is surprising and very much what makes treasure of the film is between Olivier Martinez and Aitana Sanchez-Gijon chemistry and real genuine passion, that's hard to fake sensual romantic intensity, as much as naturally born sexiness, sex appeal and good looks cannot be faked either....

Why the film is a 9/10 and should be a cult film.
22 February 2017
Les Felins is a very advance for it's time with uniqueness, the modern theme and twisting multi-plots. It's been so very underrated but in a way this protected it from being commercially spoilt, which had kept it's class and intelligence.

The film is a marriage of french elegant dark film and new wave raw but done in a so stylish but not too arty, in a very balance cinematic intrigue and pleasure. With the surprising humours, quirky action and thriller drama between characters.

Almost all the characters have great presence, acting and perfectly cast. Even the mafia gang (like the 60's rat pack) hunting down Marc have such an appeal to suave henchmen.

Example the main ones are Alain Delon as Marc (gigolo, living off women, fugitive from American mafia, while in hiding he is being a seducer chauffeur)- Delon himself cannot be refuted to be perfect epitomize of magnetic don juan. Lola Albright as Barbara (philanthropist, cougar, millionaires, mistress of the estate)- Albright even at middle age can rival hotness in class, elegance and beauty any top vogue models. Jane Fonda as Melinda (charity worker, niece of Barbara, playing the maid, love struck of Marc)- Fonda is such a great pleasing to the eyes of any male seeing her at this age and her very alluring attractive female hotness. Overall the three of them have such appeal of sexiness that it actually transpire into cinematic pleasure, on top of their top acting abilities.

Rene Clements have really captured a great almost perfect flow of how this story evolve. He had few modern for it's time elements (not to mention objects)that created distinct actions, dialogue, close interactions and developments of suspense to antithesis to demise of thriller story.

The critic to this is that you will wish it was also released dubbed in English, the film was in colour and added more scenes.
