Raised by Wolves (2020)
Fantastic modern Sci-Fi at it's very best
This is modern science fiction created exactly how it should be. Interesting storytelling, interesting characters, twists, turns, beautiful imagery and music.
I've been fortunate enough to watch both seasons of this and it's right up there with the equally fantastic Apple Sci-fi Foundation.
The bad news (heart breaking actually), I read last night some comments from the actor who plays Father on the show that HBO MAX in their infinite wisdom have cancelled the show, he went on to state that the producers had planned for more seasons with more storytelling and that they are fighting hard to find another platform... Are you listening Amazon / Netflix??? Please save this fantastic series.
Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
The Perfect Ending
I am a man fast approaching 50 years old and as that very final scene came on the screen I was honestly sat on the edge of my seat with mouth wide open in awe and shock.
I'm generally quite an emotional person but this ending had me at the point where I could easily have cried my eyes out or simply screamed, in the end it was just a wide open mouth!!
This episode for me was perfection and a truly beautiful way to wrap up a criminally under exposed TV show, the best of it's generation.
Sam Esmail is a true writing genius, who shows you how a legendary show really should be ended - were you watching D & D ?
Simply brilliant, thank you for all the memories Sam, Rami and everybody involved with the entire series - thank you, thank you, thank you !!
One Dollar (2018)
Why on earth the low ratings ?
Sometimes IMDB really makes me question the sanity of some of it's reviewers. Anybody who visited this site and searched this show would see a very low score and probably not bother with it, the kicker is that this is a very, very good show!
Pretty original drama, a few twists and turns, pretty decent casting and decent paced story line to go along with it.
My review is based on the first 2 episodes, I would recommend giving this show a chance, it deserves one, it's a real hidden gem.
Stargate Origins (2018)
Beyond disappointed
Since I heard about the project some time ago I have been waiting patiently for it's release. I am a massive fan of all things Stargate, having watched the original movie, SG 1, Atlantis, Universe and loved the lot of them. It's fair to day I was pretty disappointed when Universe was cancelled.
So the premise for this was already pretty well known, let's make a prequel and show what happened when they first found the Stargate.
The whole thing seems like a college project. The acting is amateur, the story is dull and corny. The effects aren't even that good.
To me this looks like one thing and that's a way for them to cash in on a popular franchise.
If your a fan you will watch this anyway and no doubt be disappointed but if your not and just planned watching it anyway then save your time.
A real let down, the 2 stars is me being generous and I give it mainly for the music.
Damnation (2017)
Enjoyable first episode
Firstly this show is not one of my favorite genres and I decided to give it a watch because I didn't have anything else to watch.
Killian Scott takes one of the lead roles in the show, I recognized him straight away from the excellent RTE drama Love / Hate, he didn't quite have the American accent down but I am sure it will come in time.
Also the brilliant Logan Marshall-Green stars as the main protagonist, I remember him from an old drama called Traveler and more recently in the brilliant Quarry.
I wasn't expecting much from it at all and it started a little slowly but it soon gathered pace.
There are a couple of clever twists and turns in the show and the character development is clever.
I recommend giving this show a chance, the low score would normally have put me off and so I am glad I watched it anyway.
Inhumans (2017)
Thoroughly enjoyable show, cannot understand the low ratings
I am going to make this a relatively short and sweet review, seeing as I have only viewed the first 2 episodes.
Before watching I came here and read some of the reviews, I was flabbergasted at the low 5.3/10.0 rating on the main page. However I like to make up my own mind and decided to go ahead anyway.
I started watching with a total open mind, I am not a Marvel fanboy and knew nothing about the shows background or character history so this was all new for me.
In short I really loved this show (so far), it has great visuals and audio, the characters and very likable in particular Jawbone who is the coolest thing ever.
The story line was really good, the changing between the Earth and the Moon was great, I love seeing stuff that was filmed in the beautiful Hawaiian islands too.
Some great actor's and actress's in this show to top it off.
In conclusion, if you have not yet watched this, please ignore all the negative ratings and watch with an open mind.
Very enjoyable show and cannot wait to see more
The Orville (2017)
Really enjoyable, doesn't take itself too seriously
I was quite sceptical before deciding to watch The Orville, in the past I haven't been a particular fan of Seth MacFarlane's work but decided to give it a try anyway.
At the time of writing my review I have watched all 4 of the aired episodes so feel my review is fair and not guilty of judging too early.
So, I wasn't expecting a great deal from the show but was pleasantly surprised, the show doesn't try to be something it is not, it doesn't take itself too seriously either.
The humor is not over the top and is well balanced with the story line in each episode, which was something I was worried about prior to watching.
Obviously the show is kind of a comedic clone of Star Trek, however I am seeing elements of the Stargate franchise (minus the Stargate) too, reminds me of Atlantis which I was a big fan of.
I really like this show so far and hope they don't change it too much, i.e. don't take yourselves to seriously and keep the balance of humor and story line as is.
Fun, enjoyable, witty, easy viewing !
