Sweet Tooth (2021)
8 for first season... don't bother watching s2
Cuteness overload, smart story, relatable and funny. Season 1 was spot on. Acting was pretty good and the situations were though slightly predictable very realistic for a sci-fi series. The kids did a good job. And I was looking forward to season 2, but oh dear what the hell did the writers do? Where was the producer, the director or even the cast, banging their fists on the table demanding an immediate replacement? The season 2 gets worse with every episode and dives down in a massively pathetic and predictable crap show. Can't even begin to explain what is wrong but it's in every live, every scene, even the music is disgusting. So please enjoy s1 and think of it as a single season show. Think of a nice ending yourself or just accept they all die.
Fool Me Once (2024)
AI written and AI acted? Bad anyway
Weird series, poor characters and dialogue but some nice moments. The Detective is actually not bad at all, i like his acting and he is the only one to appear real. The kids do quite a good job as well. However this isn't enough to save the series.
The min character is a completely failed AI model of ten years ago programmed to have no emotion and carry the same facial expression and tone of voice throughout every scene. This is so bad it is noticeable before the end of episode one.
A handful of side characters that do nothing for the story. A lame football coach and bunch of motor dudes a half sibling and a not so much desired partner for the detective.
Please don't bother.
Berlín (2023)
Don't trust the negative reviews
This is not just another Heist. This is not Casa de Papel. This is not a boring quadruple love story. This is a magnificent series about odd people pulling things off together and making it work or not sometimes... it is funny and witty. The acting of all involved is above average including the extras! And the cast is really good. The character development is slow enough to be interesting and leaves many things to your imagination.
Of course it is a bit weird to pull off a heist with a bunch of bipolar lunatics and loose canons, but it adds so much colour to the story.
I haven't finished the show just yet but I really can't imagine it turns bad after episode six.
Give it a try and open your mind to something new, not everything needs to make sense to be good ;)
Kickstarted (2015)
Amazingly personal and honest documentary
I haven't seen anything like this on the subject of crowdfunding before. This is just such an honest and personal film with real life characters pursuing their dreams, ups and downs and strong will to carry on. Jason Cooper and Jay Armitage traveled around the USA and captured all those intense moments everyone doing a project on Kickstarter goes through. Success and failure belong together and even so success is no guarantee for a happy life. Many a creative soul came up with and excellent idea only to discover they weren't able to fulfill in the end. The cool thing about the film is maybe it provides a really simple and down to earth explanation of what crowdfunding truly is and the filmmakers cover all the aspects you have to keep in mind whenever you decide to ask the crowd to help you achieve your dream goals. And the best thing? Yeah this film was crowdfunded as well! A whole bunch of enthusiastic backers from around the globe made it possible for these guys to tell the story of others... what a concept! What a joy!
