Maixabel (2021)
Interesting
Had great expectations when i saw the rating. I also think very highly of the protagonist. Let's be honest. The first part of the movie is mind-numingly boring in my opinion. If you are the impatient type i wouldn't recommend it. Political drama thrillers are not for everyone (including myself). BUT. The second half (after about an hour) is such an improvement, almost like watching a different film. Thank god i didn't shut down the television and decided to watch until the end. A touching movie, which will reward the patient ones. The ending leaves you with a warm feeling of optimism. Well done.
Tokyo Ghoul: re (2018)
6/10 Season 3 Too much information
It is a shame cause the previous seasons were good. This one is full of plot holes and there are too many characters that serve no purpose. The story is confusing and tiring. Some fight scenes are nice, but this is not enough to make the 3rd season enjoyable. The sudden reappearance of some interesting characters from previous seasons was a pleasant addition, although there is no explanation or background story. Must admit that it was kind of predictable that Amon was not dead. I see that most people prefer the manga and maybe reading it before you watch the anime, is the best way to fully understand the storyline. The ending was nice, but again, expected.
Kastanjemanden (2021)
Good but not great
Descent show. Imo it is the same story all over again. When you watch it you get that deja vu feeling often. The fact that it is Danish makes it a bit different, but it is kinda predictable. Loved the acting though, both protagonists were convincing. I recommend it because it is small. More episodes would have made it tiring, but as a mini-series it is easily watchable. You just have to make it through the first (maybe second) episode. Afterwards it'll fire you up.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
6,8 is too low
Easily watchable. Not that close to the anime. I suppose that the ones that haven't seen the original and like a noir Sci-Fi will enjoy this. Great job for the intro, descent job for the casting (spike could be taller, jet could be ...hmmm whiter and fay could be slimmer). Overall there is good acting and some similarities with the real thing. If you expect a, let's say, copy of the anime just don't bother. If you are able to watch it with no expectations, then i strongly recommend. Underrated imo.
The Invisible Man (2020)
Watchable yet predictable
Nothing special. A descent movie. The script and the acting seemed mediocre to me. There was no "surprise" whatsoever. Whouldn't watch it again. Not a waist of time, but you expect more when you see 7,1.. Overrated imo.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Predictable
Big fuss in Greece with that show. After watching the last episode, i still can't understand why. Because it was something new and different? Because it was Korean? Who knows.
It was watchable and that is the end of it imo.
Battle Royale & Hunger Games all over again.
8,1 is waaaaay too high guys.
Gegen die Wand (2004)
Different, sensitive
Not the usual romantic story. A beautiful film worth watching. Both protagonists are amazing, same goes for the supporting cast. The movie is highly rated, but still i must admit i didn't expect it to be that good. Full of energy and raw realism. The music was also a pleasant surprise. A must watch undoubtedly.
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
A must see for only a few people
Such an interesting story, such great acting. I found myself hooked from the beginning till the end. This is clearly an underrated masterpiece. It almost felt like watching theater instead of a movie at some points. Not the typical horror film, but a drama/mystery sensation. Highly recommended to those who prefer something different. It's darkness is unique. Do not let the low ratings fool you. Watch it alone at night and enjoy.
Sword Gai: The Animation (2018)
Watchable
If you want something exceptional this one is not for you. I watched it slowly and used it to fall asleep stimes. The plot is weak and blurry with too many characters. Imo the show manages to demonstrate the eternal human struggle between good and evil. And that is what i liked. The importance of our soul and the way we feel inside. Overall the idea was good, but the outcome could and should have been better.
Martyrs (2008)
Overrated brutality
Where was the horror? There is no atmosphere in this movie. Nothing but brutal scenes only to shock you. I've never left a theatre during a movie, but i would if i had paid to watch this abomination. Boring and disturbing, i am trully stunned by the high ratings and the "masterpiece" comments. Hoped for a rewarding ending. Not even close. A total waste of time.
Russian Doll (2019)
Groundhog day
Great first season. Really fun to watch. Gets you hooked.
Russian doll is clearly inspired by Groundhog Day and that is why i gave it a chance.
No disappointments, won't miss season two.
S'parta (2018)
A dark sad masterpiece
I can't believe i almost missed this gem, because of the low rating and the russian language.
If you feel ready for something different do yourself a favor and watch it. Good acting, great story.
I am sure that once Sparta becomes popular it will get the recognition it deserves.
Gerald's Game (2017)
Good for a low budget film
The movie is ok. Not breathtaking. Has some strong scenes, but imo it lasts longer than necessary. 1 hour and 20 mins should be enough for the story to be told.
Haven't read the book to make the comparison, but i bet it is superior.
Not a waste of time, not a masterpiece.
Devilman: Crybaby (2018)
Touching drama, a suprise
Hardcore and brutal. Adults only, keep the children away.
I'm glad i gave it a chance, cause the first 2 episodes almost disappointed me. It is a different anime full of symbolisms.
It's deep sadness and pain is balanced by the psychedelic colours and the unexepectedly smooth japanese rap music.
Not for every... stomach for sure, but many will enjoy it.
Kengan Ashura (2019)
Better than Baki
Surely you'll want to see what comes next after watching it. It is not crazy good imo and the animation is a bit funny, but you get used to it quickly, as a fellow mentions below.
Clear storyline, brutal and funny as it should be. Don't know if it will hold up to that precious 8/10 rating, but i highly recommend it to those who were disappointed from Baki.
