Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (2022)
Original and unnerving
I first saw Don't Hug Me I'm Scared back when it was originally released an eternity ago. Checked occasionally to see if they plan on releasing new episodes and was happy to see a new season uploaded on YouTube. The show gets 10/10 for originality and the ability to induce existential fear into viewers. They seem to have cracked a formula that combines story, visuals dialog and editing that makes people feel extremely uncomfortable. Based on the low number of ratings and reviews on Imdb (15 at the times of writing), this show is by definition a hidden gem and I hope it gets recognised soon so that we can keep seeing more of it.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Bland, boring and poorly produced. A disappointment
How something that costs so much can look so cheap is beyond me.
The music is also quite bad and it does not come even close to LOTR.
But most importantly, everyone has the emotional maturity of a high schooler. I can't take this show seriously. Characters are 2 dimensional and boring. Galadriel feels like she is only capable of anger and confusion.
This may have worked as an original child aimed fantasy, but to put it in the same category as lord of the rings is just not going to be accepted by fans.
It seems that the people who made this do not know what makes lord of the rings what it is. It is not the orcs, hobbits, sauron, elfs or whatever. It is the feeling of epicness, friendship, danger and stakes. All of this is lacking here.
Stranger Things: Chapter Four: Dear Billy (2022)
Not a huge fan
Of Stranger Things. I think it is an OK show. But this episode's ending was really really good and it redeems all the cheesiness of past episodes. I hope the final two episodes are also worth it and the season ends strong.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Childish and poorly made
There is no tension, no drama. Vader's appearance carried no weight. His meeting with Obi-wan was incredibly anti-climatic. Editing, story, dialogue and acting are all off. Who is in charge of this show?
