Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Wonderful!
I loved this episode, the best editing, cinematics, and soundtrack in the season and maybe the entire show. There are soo many great panning shots that show off King's Landing in ways we haven't seen before, two in particular that stands out is the shot of Dany waiting for the bells looking over King's Landing on the back of her dragon (the CGI was amazing there) and when the solider's throw done their swords the camera pans up and it's a fantastic little shot. On top of that, the music that plays when the armies are setting up was really suspenseful, It had me at the edge of my seat.
OK OK, people didn't like it because of what HBO did to their "Hero", but you know what the old saying is "Never meet your heroes, they'll just disappoint you." well HBO just showed you the true nature of your hero.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Dee Day (2019)
All I Want To Say Is...
"Deflated Dennis" was hilarious!! Kind of a slow start, but a great finish. Best episode soo far, "Dee you nasty"
The Walking Dead: Scars (2019)
Awesome!
This episdode feels like Walking Dead going back to it's roots and that's what made this show great. It has been lacking this raw emotion for the last 2~3 seasons. Danai Gurira definitely carried this episode on her back and delivered BIG time. I'm not surprised the rating for this episode is so low because the general TV
watchers don't like brutal raw emotional violence, they shy away from it. IMO, those are the fans this show began to cater to and slowing began ruining the culture AMC built for show. However, Walking Dead comicbook fans will love this episode and people that don't like cheesey cookie cutter dramas will LOVE this episode as well.
The Perfection (2018)
The Longest Episode Of Black Mirror EVER!
Your ultimate opinion of this movie will hang on whether or not you like the big twist. I liked it, I feel it was an emotionally cognizant twist that balanced the ending of the movie after all of the ridiculous build up. This movie isn't for everyone and I am sure many have cut it off before the ending of the first Act, but if you stick with it you may be surprised how it all plays out. Solid movie.
Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)
WOW...WOW
This is another "I could REALLY see that happening" moment from BM. I have a lot of questions and a lot of thoughts about this episode. First off, What developer is making a game that has characters with fully functioning genitals? Did they put more time into the fighting system than the intercourse system? This game clearly isn't rated E for Everyone.
Ok, that's out of the way. At the end "we need to have a foot on this thing", you already have a handle on things. Danny isn't attracted to his wife like he used to be, early in the episode he was eyeballing one of the mom's at the party and fantasizing about her looking at through the window. Danny is boring and he can't get it up for his wife anymore, she knew it, but he constantly lied to her and that wasn't fair to her.
Karl's issue is a bit more complex, at first i thought he just didnt want the young millennial girls that don't understand the things were when he was younger. Perhaps looking for his own Theo (Danny's wife) that lead me to believe that the video game was going to be used as a plot device to create a wedge between Danny and Theo. That wasnt the case, the achieving female climax was his hidden agenda.
I instantly knew this wasn't about homosexuality on Danny's end because he's instantly attracted to what he sees in front of him; a beautiful fit female character. He wants to experience something (and someone) new, I firmly believe his desire was 100% physical. Karl on the other hand was all over the place and his desire is much deeper and has been in his head much longer than what he leads on, he begs Danny to continue because no one is as good as he is, but i dont think that was it. There's no details whether or not Karl had experienced the game more than the 5 mins he had at the store and what exactly the sells rep showed him at the store. I believe Karl needed Danny for two reason because he would've been embarrassed to ask anyone else he knows in the real world and he probably may have had these feelings for Danny years before.
Ok, im tired of typing now, this episode really fried my brain (in a good way)
Game of Thrones: A Man Without Honor (2012)
That "Fade to Black" Melts My Face EVERYTIME!
You get so much character development in this episode, it's fantastic. Things become darker and grittier for everyone involved in this well written entry. There's so much to enjoy; Jon and Ygritte's amusing banter and bickering, The Arya/Tywin dynamic, Jamie Lannister is the grown man in the holding cage and most of all Theyon loses his soul. I love the tidbits that are offered up with The Hound being "The Hound" and Shia's devotion for protecting Sansa. All of that is great, but Theon's judgment was one of my favorite moments in the entirety of this show. No matter how many time I watch this episode and that scene it NEVER gets old. The look of Shock and awe on Maester Luwin and even Theon's expression was enough to shink my heart into my stomach. Oh and that fade to black is an amazing cherry on top. There more bloody and gory moments throughout the other episodes, but since the first time I saw this episode my reaction has never changed. This is my ~5th time binge watch this series and...that fade to black!
South Park: Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics (1999)
Atrociously underrated episode
The creative architecture of this episode alone is phenomenal and top that off with the music lyrics and overall theme of this episode makes this an instant classic.
Annihilation (2018)
Better than Arrival!
I thought this movie had a more cohesive back story than the critically acclaimed Arrival that was a major let down. The visuals are on par with Arrival (both movies look amazing in 4k), however Arrival was a movie with moderate buildup and an ending that is embarrassing empty and leave you wanting a more fleshed out and for the lack of a better word...BETTER ending. I guess you can sum up this review to not how good this movie is, but how lackluster Arrival is compared to another Scifi movie with a very similar plot.
