Always Will (2006)
I loved this film
I saw "Always Will" at Dances with Films, where it won the audience award. The story was very clever and I could not believe that this was made on a shoestring budget by an independent filmmaker. It honestly looked more like a studio film. I laughed out loud, and was surprised by a little twist when Will decides to return to when he dug up the relic. The only fault I found was the Dad character. The actor played the character a little one dimensional, but since it is a comedy it still works. I loved that I could take my kids, when most festivals (unless they are "family" festivals" show the most outrageous films they can find.) I hope to see this in theaters, it's that good.
The Festival (2005)
Loved it!
As a first time filmmaker making my way through the festival circuit, I loved happening across this on IFC. I couldn't stop laughing at the little things, that in reality, aren't really all that exaggerated. Even the acronym for the festival is funny. The 4,000 plus filmmakers submitting to festivals this year will totally identify with Rufus. (I know there are over 4,000 because all of the festivals start their letters with "With over 4,000 entries...") I feel like I have met all of the characters, from Rufus, to his hotel mate, to the festival programmer. This is a must see comedy for indie filmmakers navigating the circuit. And, although a mockumentary, I learned to always have another copy of my film with me(which I've needed ..twice!)
Martti and Kim's Story of... (2006)
I wish this was around when I was a kid
Wow, I see major parent-child quality time here...watching television! If this show had been around when I was a kid, maybe I would have enjoyed learning history. And, I may even have remembered it. The great thing about this show, is that it has plenty of humor for adults so they can enjoy it as much as their kids. These two gals have great comedic timing. The situations are hilarious, yet fully grounded in history. Where can we see more episodes? I'd love to see this show on television, so my kids could benefit from what I missed out on. (And I'd like to watch it too.)What a concept, a show we could watch together and like it!
