Impressive spectacle undermined by lack of substance
3 June 2009
The largest let-down aspect of this film is that THERE IS NO CHARACTER. You presume your following John Connor but you don't, you are shifted between two characters yet they are barely protagonists and you cannot have a story without a protagonist, and vice versa, period.

The CGI is fantastic but not enough action involving the smaller machines - the common terminators which we love. The lack of real plot is just too hard to dismiss and the end 30 minutes are way too predictable.

I still recommend it, it was quite fun and the machines look pretty awesome (though I'm sure i saw a terminator wearing a bandanna at one point...). Its McG (what a ridiculous title) - you shouldn't be going to see this with high expectations.

Should never have been a movie
17 August 2007
It's obvious that a standard Simpson's formula for an episode could not be extended to make a real movie. I personally would have left the idea, unless the money dividends were huge, (which they probably are) The movie has a rather different tint to the Simpson's we all know. I feel it has borrowed heavily from the Seth Mcfarlanes Family Guy which admittedly made quite a few parts funny but I wouldn't consider the creators to have the same experience in that are of humour.

I enjoyed the movie at the beginning but then it became too random and it didn't seem to reach me. It was a big let down because of the hype, however i always retain that cartoon series', just like computer games, shouldn't be made into films. I guess its a money thing, who's going to turn down millions?

Incredible!
17 August 2007
I have never seen a movie like this, if you are slightly intrigued, go see it! I was incredibly apprehensive of Michael Bay directing this film after such garbage as Pearl Harbour, and I've not been overly impressed with most his work.

After Transformers it becomes Clear that Michael Bay is perhaps the new James Cameron as far as action is concerned. I still however dislike the dialogue and a lot of the acting he directs, if only he had a co-director.

The Transformers are completely epic, they are stunning, the CG is the best i have seen. They are huge transforming robots but he has made them look more powerful than i would guess most could. They have been made with a human element so that we are much more involved and concerned with the outcome of the fights.

I am starving for more, and i can easily put up with average plot development, and average acting for a second viewing.

A favourite, simply because of the robots!!!

Nothing more than a gorenography
6 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Just came back from seeing this film and I really need to stress at how crap a film it was. I had read the reviews of it being better than saw 2 and more like saw 1 (which was good!) but they were talking rubbish. This film relies purely on gore and the ability to make you cringe. The plot was stupid and too far fetched which only idiots who enjoy this brain numbing turdness would accept. I didn't even know who the lead character was...there was none I'm sure. The narrative was poor and the acting was naff.

I felt really uncomfortable watching this film and when i came out i was terribly uneasy. There is no resolution, it has possibly got one of the worst endings to a film ever which really p***ed me off most, i felt totally unsatisfied. Don't see this film, its pathetic.
