Road House (2024)
There's 20 mins I'll never get back
This was so bad. I only lasted 20 minutes. The acting was horrible except for Jake. It was not even filmed in Key West. Looked nothing like the keys and I'm from Florida and honeymooned in Key West. Nothing was realistic. I had to go watch the original one to make up for this horrible remake. Just nonsense fighting and not at all realistic story. The constant bar brawls are not at all remotely realistic of Florida life. Movie made Floridians and the bars in Florida seem like the wild west. Party life, yes. People get drunk, yes but that's ever bar in the United States. I don't know any town in Florida that's like that. The actress said she's from glass keys like she's from the hood or something. A town that I've never heard of. Did the writers/director even try? Did he even visit Florida? My guess is no.
Truth Be Told: Only Little Secrets (2023)
Bullying?
Seems like the scene with Trini being bullied by the other girls at school was thrown in there as filler. I am shocked that someone would bully another over being kidnapped then trafficked but I guess it happens which is an absolute shame. Bullying in all and any form is reprehensible. The first two seasons were better and season three was pretty good too but seemed forced. Definitely an emotional roller coaster of a topic. If there's a season 4, the writers need to shake things up a bit about to avoid being predictable. I love Octavia and think she deserves a better way to showcase her talent.
The Greatest Night in Pop (2024)
Relived my 12/13 year old self
Lived it when it came out in 85/86. Relived it yesterday in 2024 with an even greater appreciation for the work that went into it. Seeing all these musical giants together was just awesome. Documentary was very well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All these artist from all walks of life getting together for a common cause. Had a wonderful trip down memory lane. When these folks are no longer with us, the song and the documentary will forever carry on their name. I would like to see more of this type documentary on Netflix. Very well done. Good love Waylon for being honest. Good old boys don't sing in swahili. He should have stayed.
1923: The Rule of Five Hundred (2023)
Off track scenes
All is good except the whipping of the working girls. Absolutely no point in it except to gain ratings. Sad to see the horrible treatment of the native Indians but I suppose it may serve as a reality check of your they were treated. Much more darker series then yellowstone and 1883. Hope the writing and story line doesn't go off track. Can only hope it's doesn't get even darker or you may lose audience. All of which is great acting all around. Want to see something that doesn't depress me. Beautiful scenery and costume. Will watch at least this season so far. Just not sure what audience the writers are catering to in episode 7 & 8.
Un asunto privado (2022)
Charming
Was pleasantly surprised by this one. Popped up on my Amazon Prime suggestion. I liked the artistic film style, the lighting, the era and the fast paced story line. Character are engaging. Looking forward to seeing more. Took a bit getting used to it being dubbed in English because the audio didn't sync with mouth movement but not a deal breaker. Worth watching more. Jean Reno is always a pleasure to see in movies. Had not heard of the main female actress before but she's is very cute and believable in this role. It reminds me of Murder on the Orient Express style of movie. Will be back for more.
Mare of Easttown (2021)
Tell me there's a season 2
Can't get enough of this series. So gripping and raw. Great cast and not at all predictable. Keeps me interest. Only 7 episodes? Wth HBO! Tell me there's more coming.
Audrey (2020)
Adoringly Audrey....
Loved this documentary of my all time favorite actress. Heard about some already well known facts about her life and learned some new things about her which was nice. Documentary covers her Hollywood life as well as her personal life.
She could wear a potato sack and still look absolutely stunning. My heart breaks that she never really loved herself like a lot of the world did she still does. Happy that she at least ended up with a gentleman, Robert Wolders, that made her feel loved. Also that she became the face for UNICEF which meant more to her than being movie star. Would always love to see more about her but this movie did a decent job of it.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
Thoroughly enjoyable
Didn't know what to expect when I started this movie. Glad I didn't skip it. Captured my attention and it was very well done.
Easy Rider (1969)
Don't waste you time.
This movie sucked. Kept thinking it'll get better. Then the ending...wth!
Peppermint (2018)
Nobody puts Riley North in a corner!
Loved it. Good acting, good action and never a dull moment.
A Fall from Grace (2020)
Expected better
Kept thinking...when did Bobby Brown start acting?
I watched it because I kept waiting for it to get better and wanted to see him to get his whooped. Oh well.
