Keep Breathing (2022)
(7.5) Slower paced drama, not survival thriller.
I really feel the reviews knocking points off for the show not showcasing realistic survival situations need to be disregarded - this is a Netlifx original limited series, not Survivorman.
That being said, this is definitely not a show that will have you at the edge of your seat, white-knuckled in suspense. It's much more of a drama than a thriller.
It took me until the end of the show to realize that the survival part of things took a back seat to what I think was the main plot - Liv's struggle to overcome a childhood that forced her to put countless walls around her emotions.
I think the show did a pretty good job telling Liv's backstory, especially in only six episodes. That's actually what I enjoyed most about this show.
The show kept a slower pace throughout but it was consistent enough to hold me to the end.
And, like I mentioned earlier, this is not the show for someone looking for a survival thriller, but definitely give it a watch if you're down for a slower paced drama which happens to take place stranded in a forest.
Resident Evil (2022)
Still watching, but it's a struggle.
I've been a fan of all things Resident Evil for a long time, but aren't one of those people who rate things badly because something strays too far from the games or the originals or anything like that. I'm usually down for new things and get excited for new storylines and characters.
Infinite Darkness was fine-ish and I actually enjoyed Welcome to Raccoon City, but this new series makes for some tough watching. It seems more like a teenage drama than anything else so far and it hasn't grasped me four episodes in.
Lance Reddick has been the show's saving grace so far, but that's totally subjective because I think he's great in everything.
I'm going to finish the series because I've made it this far and although I'm not too hopeful, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part VI (2022)
amazing episode - weaker series.
I thought this was a brilliant episode that brought up some of the old feelings I had watching Episode III for the first time. Still, it wasn't enough to change my opinion of the series as a whole.
I understand it is a limited series but it all just felt a little rushed and it was a bit dialog heavy throughout the entire middle portion of the show. It was great seeing so many familiar characters but that nostalgia isn't enough yo carry a series.
At the end of it all, episode one's opening Order 66 scene and the finale's Obiwan vs. Darth Vader dual were my favorite scenes. They were exciting for me to watch, but I believe everything in between fell short.
AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
For me, it's perfect entertainment
I was a kid when I first watched this so I'm sure the nostalgia surrounding that might make me rate this movie higher than I normally would, but still, I seriously love this movie.
I love the original Alien and Predator films (individually) but this one is more of a stand alone film. I don't see it as canon and just enjoy it for what it is 😁
The Requin (2022)
😪
I turned it off about a quarter of the way through. I
I hope the sharks won though because this was painful to watch. Just lots of screaming and bad decisions from the parts I actually saw.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Didn't do much for me.
I just wasn't feeling this one.
I'm sure a part of it is because I've been mildly disappointed with every Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie that followed the original so my already low expectations didn't even give this one a chance, but still.
I sat through the movie waiting for those "oh wow...uh-oh...aghhhh" reactions and they never came.
