Don't know why so much hate.
4 February 2022
I really enjoyed the film, it successfully creates wacky, fun, thrilling ride and keeps you super glued to your screen. I know it's a remake of Run Lola Run, but still one needs to adapt the film in your environment and time frame, the director perfectly done his job in this regard. Tahir and Tapsee are on point in the film. Here and there you find some easter eggs and homages, these are note worthy.

The monolog of Shneha Dhanwantry and the two brothers Appu and Gappu are the other highlights of the film. I need to congratulate it's technical team for the efforts they make for this film, it is very praiseworthy. Keep looking for your next venture Mr. Akash Bhatia, your Edger Wright style of filmmaking is phenomenal.

I always admire the choices of Tapsee, despite her hits and misses.

Love letter for Seema Pahwa.

Thank you mam for this wonderful film, I can't find a single flaw in the film. You have definitely taken care of every single detail in the film very carefully.

Your dialogues and screenplay are fabulous.

Your single takes are breath taking. I loved the sound work in the film too.

Like all the family members we lived in that house too. Thank you for that experience.

Looking forward for your next directorial venture.

India's Answer to Knives Out!
1 August 2020
Rant Akeli Hai(a whodunit or a murder mystery film) Appreciation Post- The film follows a cop played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui who investigates a famous politician's murder, and in between find himself between his suspicious family and his own affection towards a family member too. First let me tell you why I got attracted towards this film, and if the attraction actually justifies after seeing the film or not? 1- Huge ensemble caste- The film posses a powerful caste like Tigmanshu Dhilia, Shweta Tripathi, Radhika Apte and some other veteran actors. Each and every character in this murder mystery serves a purpose and support the narrative. 2- Nawazuddin Siddiqui - Oh man he again shows his talent, his character is very layered, on a hand he is insecure towards his skin colour and uses Fair & Lovely. On the other hand he is fearless, stubborn, smart towards his job and towards finding the truth, that who murdered this famous politician. Note- There is a very different love story in the film that is happening during the film is perfectly tide in the narrative. You will defiantly feel that how great the narrative is happening. Now let me tell you what works for me in the film- 1- A top notch murder mystery or a whodunit film- After the perfect trailer and the runtime of the film give me a strange comfort that we are here for a top notch ride. Ya, it is a long two and a half hour film, ya it is a slow burn. But due to the immersive and atmospheric experience, you feel invested in every single minute of the film. 2- Technically Brilliant & Immersive Experience - The cinematography by Pankaj Kumar, the atmospheric sound design, lighting that sometime shows that what indicates the mindset, music that makes the situation even grittier. Top notch editing, that enhances the thrills. 3- A very satisfying climax of this slow burn- If we are watching a slow burn murder mystery, you will definitely expect the gut wrenching climax, that you don't even imagine in your dreams, and thank God you will definitely find one, thanks for the brilliant writing, well polished dialogues and interactions, and chemistry between the characters. Well prepared dialogues, layered writing and great chemistry between characters , superb screenplay, masterful performances made this murder mystery , one of the best experience of this year! Still very relevant in 2020.
14 July 2020
Kissha Kursee Kaa is a controversial political satire film. It was released in 1978 and it got banned due to contemporary government. All the prints of the film had been burnt by the government. Although the film is almost 40 years old, but it is so relevant in today's political scenario . The film aged so well due to its bold content and strong commentary on politics. The film is presented as a play, and this nature of the film works so well and the parody feels authentic and subtle. It never get over indulgent. The exploration of the satire is so clear and subtle and you can defiantly trace the real scenarios of those times very well. You can also draw so many parallels in current funny videos content (honest videos & parodies) formats with this. Only recognizable face in the film is Shabana Aazmi, and she is represented as Janta(the crowd) and she delivered masterful performance. This film is defiantly a timeless classic and everyone should watch to understand how great satires can be. For more reviews my insta handle- rastogidevansh

Something Good By Netflix INDIA!
25 June 2020
Bulbbul is the recent Netflix film , produced by Clean Slate Filmz ( Anushka Sharma's Production ) which is responsible for Pari, NH10 and recent Pataal Lok. Like Pari , the film posses an full arc of the supernatural being in the film. Its about a girl who married in her childhood and after that seen so many inhuman events that occurred with her. Tripti Dimri( Laila Majnu fame) delivers a powerhouse performance, her character is naive, vulnerable and powerful at times. She achieved every emotion perfectly. Other characters like Avinash Tiwari and Paoli Dam , Rahul Bose are great in their respective roles. Anushka Sharma's vision towards the horror genre is again commendable. The production design , costumes and sound score are on point. Although the screenplay is little week that could have been better. If you are looking for a layered and different horror film then you should definitely give it a chance!

Probably one of the best film of 2020
12 June 2020
As long as such a good and moving film continues to be made, Sala will remain in love with this cinema. It is not easy to keep this film in one genre, where in the beginning you will find this film, comedy, while slowly you will not feel like it is a dark comedy film, but while walking, you are forced to say no in the end. Come on, Abe Saale Yeh toh a thriller. Telling the truth, I realized this. In this world of Juhi Chaturvedi and Shoojit, people are smart, very greedy, but somewhere or the other, they will definitely make your heart flow. After a long time, Bachchan has appeared in the film, not Bachchan, but someone else has really done wonders. I swore to see the film, I enjoyed it. You don't know

Amazon never disappoints.
15 May 2020
Patal Lok , is a new crime drama series. It is produced by Clean Slate Films (Anushka Sharma's production house which is also responsible for Pari & NH10). The creatives heads behind the show are also noteworthy, like Sudip Sharma(Udta Punjab), Navdip Singh(NH10 & Laal Kaptan), Hardik Mehta(Kamyaab), Prosit Roy(Pari). If one does'nt really now about anything about the show, the creative heads are enough to feel hyped. So the first few words about the show is that, the hype is real real. They delivered something worth your time. The show is about for criminals who are trying to attempt a murder of the most respectable news journalist. Due to anonymously typed by someone they get caught. Somehow the case is thrown by the higher authorities to the the local thana officer (Jaideep Ahlawat). He is so a desperate person for his promotions. Jaideep Ahlawat as a cop delivered his best role. He is so natural, raw, vulnerable, kind, and a person who knows and accept his limits. The show is a slow and steady burn. It will defiantly take time to sync. That's why it has to have a solid pay off in the end. Man it is worth every second of your time. Go watch it asap!

Thats how you direct an ACTION FILM!
24 April 2020
First time directer SAM HARGRAVE made a simple film about extracting a boy who got kidnapped due to internal fued between drug lords and becomes a walking corpse! This kind of screenplay heavy film demands good direction, and they did it with a BANG! Top notch cinematography, practical effects made the action sequences pretty great! The ensemble cast of the film is a crowd pleaser and it pleased us! The only problem the film possesses is a weak villain , it could have been better! All in all it is an MASALA ENTERTAINER that we are craving for due to lockdown!

Shriram Raghvan Should be Jealous!😂
9 February 2020
Amazon did it again with the quality of content! They are constantly producing great shows constantly! Afsos is best described as a psychological cum dark comedy cum thriller! Anubhuti Kashyap ( who directed ) has a tight grip on screenplay, direction, editing, music! Veterans of Thrillers like Shriram Raghvan and in writing Zoya and Reema should have to be jealous 😅. The writing is bang on, layering the characters, and giving a very fresh perspective is the strength of the show! The dialogues are the culmination of realism and dramatic! The comedy comes with irony and it is well and organically placed! And I want to specially mention the opening credits, it has great sound and visuals and I never skipped it!

I DON'T WANT THIS SHOW TO BE CALLED UNDERRATED , SO TALK ABOUT IT , PRAISE IT OR EVEN CRITICIZE IT! BUT ENGAGE!

Great Premise But Lost Opportunity
31 October 2019
Finished watching KAAFIR . The show has an interesting and beautiful premise , but the main conflict of the show resolves so early and after that it just kinda loses its way and falls totally flat and became a bore fest. It is a huge lost opportunity and if the screenplay and story writer plays it with subtlety, it could have been one of the best show.

Performance of Dia Mirza is her lifetime best and Mohit Raina looks earnest but falls flat handling various emotions!

Despite all its heavy criticism the show will remain with you for sometime!

A FLAWED MASTERPIECE
23 September 2019
Chhichore is a flawed masterpiece , just like life. Once Manoj Bajpai said about choosing a commercial role that one ( the director ) should has to have full conviction about whatever he is telling in a film. This very analogy fits perfectly for this film. Nitesh Tiwari's hold on the craft and conviction is masterful about his film. The editing , sound design , scene blocking and screenplay is top notch and it hold your gut with a full extent. The bright light of the conviction shattered the bad aspects of the film like poorly written character arcs, whole writing (you could sense the climax and whats gonna happen next with a mile away) some bad acting here and there and the worst prosthetics. My primary aspect of watching a film is to enjoy and the whole criticism of the film actually educates me about what to expect and lower my expectation bars too. AND the conviction of Nitesh Tiwari on his craft impress me a lot rather then being critical.

Worst NETFLIX Offering
20 July 2019
Typewriter ( A Netflix Original ) promises a lot in the beginning of the show, and turned out to be the worst Netflix Indian offering till now! A bad show like LEILA , looks like a masterpiece in front of it! This series promises you a horror troops! But couldn't deliver a bit ! Because of its bad acting, bad sound design and mixing , bad storytelling , caricaturists dialogues! They developed so many plots but couldn't justify properly even one of them! And there are cheap tributes to NETFLIX'S own shows like Haunting Of The Hill House , and STRANGE THINGS made the show even more worst! Apart from all the criticism , if you neglect all the things that I mentioned, YOU CAN BINGE IT EASILY!

Poorly written film with tiring screenplay
19 May 2019
De De Pyar De is another disaster film of Luv Rajan universe! As you already know that it deals about a 50 year old man who is not thinking his age as a middle life crises, and falls in love with a 26 years old spontaneous , full of life girl. See the premise is not new and we already witnessed the brilliant film dealing with this topic called Cheeni Kum. Let me tell you why this why this film is a disaster comparing Cheeni Kum. The biggest let down of this film is its lack luster writing accept Ashish ( Ajay Devgan ) every other characters looks like a single line brief like the daughter of Ajay has been briefed that you should be angry all the time while your father appears because he is never there for her when needed. Because of that she appears very single dimensional. Like her there are no depth in other characters. And in Cheeni Kum every single character appeared layered be it Tabbu's father who is younger than Amitabh. He accepts his retirement although exactly Amitabh's character is opposite , while they shared scene together it is beautifully showing that age is just a number and how you deal with it , it is up to you. Thats the difference! Deep writing and briefs make that possible! Talking about acting , both Tabu and Ajay did OK, could have been better. Every other characters is either bad or wasted! It is a distance!

Tuca & Bertie (2019–2022)

Different but Crazier than BOJACK.
5 May 2019
Tuca & Bertie is the new offering via Netflix in Adult Animation. It is created by the production designer of BOJACK HORSEMAN. When a beloved show like Bojack is being considered for comparison, with that show it is very hard to match the quality. But still we are only one season old for this show. Let it grow more.

Talking about the show, its about the female bonding of two girls who are in there 30s. The biggest quality the show is that it is super creative in storytelling, detailed and sharp and CRAZY. It is crazier than BOJACK, I could say that for sure. Although the voice artist are pretty awesome.

The only criticism of the show is that in the last few episodes the writing gets little repetitive and the deepness which is growing is kinda fading. But we are only one season down. And I am sold for upcoming seasons.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL ANIMATION LOVERS.

Stellar Second Season Review
17 April 2019
"POLITICIAN OWNS SUPPLIERS, SUPPLIERS OWN DOCTORS & PATIENTS OWN WHO?"

Laakhon Me Ek Season 2 is highly praise worthy and after Made in Heaven , this wins all accolades for its writing. The character arcs are satisfying. Sweta Tripathi is phenomenal so are the ensemble cast. The show reflects that being true to yourself in this corrupt environment is so so hard. And every single person who hold it solid definitely has a breakdown point. Even after these struggles , if someone survived, called , " LAAKHON ME EK". I think this is not a reboot of the show, it is actually a Anthology season. Every season tell a different story with an idea of Laakhon me Ek.

Do watch it ASAP.

Brilliant Second Season Review
4 April 2019
Just watched the anticipated TVF TRIPLING Season 2.

First some non spoiler talk.

First word is that the show is great. The writing is perfectly sharp. Narrative is cleverly put, I want to specially mention the subplots here. It is way better than the last season. The cities which they are exploring for some reason possessed the powerful subplots. They put some of the reference here and there. Acting is again top notch. And again huge shout out for Mr. CHANDAN. Again he puts so much quirk and more dept in his character. Thats why we love him more and more.

Now some spoiler talk Talking one by one. The highlight of the huge change in Chandan, he surprises us with his baby and the backstory, no one gonna believe ki wo ek chamcha bn gya hai ladki ka. And the biggest disappointing thing is the cliched written bhabi character. That kinda affects the show's authenticity. The introduction of the Nawab and his begum is brilliant and it gave us the best moments of the show. One of the writer who directed Karwan , has created influenced moments. That's brilliant I loved that. And after that our Satyaniveshi friend and a great tribute to Byomkesh Bhakshy in every manner. Made me fall in love for the show even more.

So the second outing is better than the first one.

THATS MY FINAL VERDICT. GOOD NIGHT.

Most Unoriginal and Lazy Attempt
28 February 2019
Are we that much fools? Its a shame that wise actors are doing that kind of crap. Now these actors established themselves so well. They should be fully conscious for the content. ALAS ! ALAS ! ALAS ! In front of this even Thugs of Hindustan looks like a masterpiece. Even that film have some good acting here and there and little written characters for God sake. I think I am so lazy but even I couldn't make that much lazy of a film. Every thing is plastic. Looks like some amateur actors are practicing. They are so so loud. Shame on you Mr. Director ! Now the time has changed. Either you quit making films or make something clever and meaningful.

Layered narrative on Racism.
26 February 2019
This film is a brilliant commentary on racism and the thought process regarding that. Green Books tells a story of two characters , who discovered each other during a journey. One of them is full of life and have a very different approach on things the other person is black and is so obsessed on proving his loyalty for white people with his art , doing that he become aline in his own community. The director cleverly written both characters specially the driver. I loved the film for its telling of self discovery with enjoyable manner.

Could not handle two much swagger.
21 February 2019
K.G.F Chapter 1, The film is exhausting. Director constantly wants to create adrenaline rush moments and edge of the seat experience with super fast pace and over the top background score. Due to lack of powerful screenplay that trick became cheap. Ya we know that one have to show the swagger of superstar Yash. But there are too many slow motions shots and swagger moments and cheesey moments. These moments leave a bad impact on the story. Acting of Yash is more of Swagger and less of depth and emotions. On papers the story is good but according to me the execution is super bad. Technically speaking , the camera work is great. Overall K.G.F. is an exhausting experience. And I am not looking forward to next parts.

Gully Boy (2019)
9/10
Most nuanced telling of a mind of being an Artist.
19 February 2019
In an interview Ranveer told that, " In Simbba I have to do a lot , but in Gully Boy I have to be." This line gives a very brief definition of Ranveer's character in Gully Boy. There are so many things going on near him and he is reacting. This film is a celebration of characters, not just talking about leads. One of the best quality I recon of the film is that Joya told us how to be in the shoes of an artist in most authentic way possible. The influences of creativity, yet fighting with all the hurdles. Murad is so grounded and lost in the horrors of being a mediocre person. That there is very little space of doing his thing, but how pain drove him write rap and chase the dream is the main highlight. That is the biggest highlight of the film. Ranveer is phenomenal as Murad. This film is most nuanced telling of being an artist. A girl with so many ambition and have little anger issue is our Alia. And this film has the potential to make another spin off of there characters. There are so many characters that needed there own storytelling. That is an achievement.

Ya there are parts that I as a viewer questioning that is that really a great film or what? These moments are dragged I think, but due to other brilliance, this can easily be neglected.

Music to bahut hard hai hi, I listened every single track except the last one called India 91. And oh my God, this very track is a story in it self, the fusion of classic and hip hop music. I loved this track and it is powerfully shown in the climax.

A great film always sets trends , so after watching this film I am gonna use Bohot Hard and Ek Number on daily basis! Even Kaam Bhari Leaves Us A Mark on us! I am saying that because every single character has to say something! SO MANY SPIN OFF POTENTIALS.

Brilliant Film (Authentic and Subtle)
12 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ralph Breaks The Internet is one of the best animated film Hollywood offered in 2018.

The unique take of thinking what happenes in the internet if it is a real world. And imagining two gaming characters in it is brilliant. They create an authentic and satirical world of internet.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

The whole satire on click bating, being famous on the internet and pop up ads, and darknet are subtle as hell. And the whole going towards Disney is a clever use of copyrights. So much fun. And they brilliantly placed a product (antivirus) with authentic scripting. REVOLUTIONARY! The whole decreasing popularity of Arcade games is shown also.

A QUESTION ( SPOILERS ) The little girl staying in a different game , is it a kind of dark ending of that subplot ? What do you think ?

Honest Coming Of Age Film
5 January 2019
This flick is very relatable. This girl who played Kayla flawlessly achieved complex emotions like introvert, shy, want to overcome of her fears and many more. I liked the film more than last years Lady Bird more. Get ready for a sweet , coming of age tale. 😍
