Pamyo (2024)
Not worth the hype
"Exhuma" promised to breathe new life into the tired tropes of exorcism horror, especially when Choi Min Sik is in it, but instead, it stumbled into the graveyard of mediocrity, failing to resurrect anything remotely interesting or engaging. From its uninspired characters to its lackluster plot, "Exhuma" is a film that feels like a missed opportunity from start to finish.
The film opens with the familiar setting of a graveyard, where everything appears peaceful and serene on the surface. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that there are dark secrets lurking beneath the soil. It's a setup that has been done to death in horror cinema, and "Exhuma" does little to distinguish itself from the countless other films that have explored similar territory.
One of the biggest issues with "Exhuma" is its characters, who feel like cardboard cutouts rather than flesh-and-blood people. As a result, it's hard to care about their fates when they're faced with the horrors that unfold.
The pacing of "Exhuma" is another major stumbling block, with the film meandering aimlessly from one scene to the next without any real sense of purpose or direction. Instead of building tension gradually, the film feels disjointed and unfocused, leaving viewers wondering when, if ever, something interesting is going to happen. Even when the scares do finally arrive, they feel forced and predictable, failing to elicit any genuine fear or excitement. Like monster turns into a flying fireball. Really....?
One of the few bright spots in "Exhuma" is its visual style, which manages to capture the eerie atmosphere of suburban life effectively. From the shadowy streets to the dimly lit interiors of the characters' homes, the film does a commendable job of creating a sense of unease and dread. However, this visual flair is ultimately wasted on a story that fails to deliver any real scares or surprises.
In the end, "Exhuma" is a forgettable entry in the horror genre that fails to leave a lasting impression. With its bland characters, sluggish pacing, and lackluster scares, it's a film that will leave audiences feeling more bored than frightened. Save your time and seek out more worthwhile horror offerings - "Exhuma" is one resurrection that should have been left buried.
Deep Fear (2023)
Decent shark movie
Wow so much hatred here. Was I watching different movie? Because I think the movie is quite enjoyable. It had some tense moments and the story was kinda fresh. It's better than recent shark movie No Way Up in terms of how it can engage the viewer. Wow so much hatred here. Was I watching different movie? Because I think the movie is quite enjoyable. Spaceman (2024)
Avoid this catastrophe!
Not much is happening in here. It's just a story about an astronaut talking to himself in the form of alien spider. You know, loneliness makes you crazy and starts your mind to create imaginary friend that kind of sh... . At first i had high hopes watching the trailer. Forget it if you want the same quality like Interstellar, The Martian, Gravity, etc.. It's just a boring drama just happened to took place in outer space. Adam sandler should keep making silly comedic movies rather than trying to make this artsy spacy BS drama. I gave it three because i don't have anything against Sandler. I myself feel sorry for him get involved in this mess.
Beef (2023)
A very juicy beef
A24 is known for their unique, unconventional, and out of the box theme, and this one is not an exception. The story is about a road rage incident between two people and it escalates uncontrolled until 10 episodes of binge worthy series. The genre i think is drama/thriller/dark comedy with intricate and carefully stitched storytelling that left the audience wanting more. Well at least i did. And the fact that main casts are asian American makes this show stands tall among others and give more nuances about the show. And above that the moral of the story really hit me right on the spot. All and all i think this is the best series in Netflix after Squid Game in the last couple of years.
Escape the Field (2022)
Watchable
As a horror fan, i found this movie quite entertaining. This didn't have those B movie atmosphere, you know what i mean. Shaky blurry cam, ugly angle taking and bad camera movement and so on. Of course. This is ripped off from countless other movies, but after a century of cinematic history, I doubt if there's any original movie. The title pretty much explains everything about what's going on in this movie. It's about a bunch of people trapped in the cornfield trying to find a way out and they suspecting one another along the way. In short, i manage to watch the entire movie, something that i don't do when watching a bad one. Don't believe the trolls, see it for yourself.
The Menu (2022)
Bad taste horror/thriller
Trying too much to be clever and different, but ended up being a boring, nonsense, awful cinema experience. The story ia about a bunch of rich people invited to an island, where they're served by an eccentric chef. First 30 minutes i found it pretty good, made me wonder what's all about. But then things started getting strange an quickly descent into a "wtf is going on" moment. It relies solely to it's packed stars etc nick hoult, john leguizano, but as much as i love anya t.j., i found her performance was quite dull and meaningless. And the cast for the main villain, you know the voldemort guy, is really annoying and obnoxious. Avoid this trash as far as you can.
House of the Dragon (2022)
House of the dullness
Like many of you, i feel obligated to watch this series out of respect of GOT. I knew it's gonna be hard, almost impossible, to surpass the original, but I never thought it's going to be this bad. I mean what the heck??? I mean nothing really happened or important to be made as a story. No good guys, no likeable character, everyone just a_holes with their own agenda. It's like Cosby show with dragons in it. This series tarnish my sweet memories with GOT, even though I don't like how it ends, it's still the best series of all time. But this garbage is such a humiliation and mockery to the original. I gave 3 only because the dragons looks good. I will give 4 if they all go Dracarys the set and all the character. It should not be made at all. SHAME..3X.
Resident Evil (2022)
Destroy the franchise
Resident Evil is the pinnacle of survival horror game. This game basically the reason why Sony can be as big as now. So it's really saddening Netflix reduce this legend to ashes. Even the zombies looks tried too hard to be scary. What a disaster. I give 4 only because Lance Reddick on it.
Crimes of the Future (2022)
Unbearable!
The worst body horror I've ever seen. This movie tried so much to be clever and original. But instead, it becomes a dreadful and excruciating movie to watch. I wonder why Viggo Mortensen took this job. Maybe he is in deep debt or something. I feel sorry for him. I gave 1 more star for a certain scene in this movie. Other than that, this movie is a total crap.
Men (2022)
Creepy and captivating!
I'm halfway through the movie writing this review. So for I'm not disappointed. A very rare gem psychological thriller. I hope the ending is satisfying.
Man vs Bee (2022)
Mr Bean is back
If you remember one episode of Mr Bean where he fought a fly, well, this is the long version of that episode with much more story and plot. Really touch my inner child.
Vendetta (2022)
Solid revenge movie, watch this.
What's with all the hate? I think its a very good revenge movie. Cheap? Yeah, absolutely, but I like it cheap. No need for elaborative mind boggling trying to be clever scheme. Just straightforward storyline. This is pure entertainment for your weekend. Well I mean, Bruce Willis, Thomas Jane and Mike Tyson on the same movie can't go wrong right?
X (2022)
Disgusting yes, scary no
This movie is nothing new. It's just Friday the 13th but they change Jason with a couple of senior citizens. It's such a let down knowing this movie came from studio that brought us Hereditary, Midsummer, The Witch, etc. It's for a one time viewing only, and people are gonna forget about it.
Deep Water (2022)
Flatline movie
Nothing really happened here. Just be thankful because Anna de Armas in it. Ben Affleck gave a wooden performance. All and all, an okay enough movie to enjoy on the weekend.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Silly and thrilling at the same time
A very good suspense comedy thriller. Very well written and plenty of fun. Every time you think you guessed it right, the story turned you the other way around. Anyone who gives this series score less then 7 must be placed in the same room with Massacre Mike.
Prank Encounters (2019)
Pretty enjoyable
I see that everyone who hates this show basically Scare Tactics staffs. The schemes, the acting and the story are very well crafted. You know what, this show is far more superior than Scare Tactics. Love it.
Archive 81 (2022)
James Wan is the master of horror!
It checked all the boxes to become a solid horror movie/series. The acting is very believable and the story keeps me glued to the screen. It has many elements from other horror movies such as Rosemary Baby, The Shining, The Excorcist, Silent Hill etc. I know it's not 10/10 per se, but compared to other trash like AHS, TWD, etc, this series deserves more acknowledgement.
Eternals (2021)
Unnecessary movie
The conflict/story is overly made up. It's not a great addition to MCU canon. As a matter of fact, MCU will be better without these characters. I have no feeling whatsoever toward all the characters. I watch this movie because there is John fckn Snow in it, yet he only has limited screen time. Ugliest MCU movie ever.
Mobeomtaeksi (2021)
For those who craved for Squid Game
I admit this show was kinda rip off from Western movies. The A Team, Mac Gyver, Batman and John Wick are some that crosses my mind, lol. But that what makes this k drama is easy to enjoy. The only thing that is lacking is the music. I suggest they change the theme music and BGM with something more tense.
Calibre (2018)
Thrilling!!!
Just watched this on Netflix. Boy, this film keeps my ny heart pounding from start to finish. A really not so good experience in a good way that is. Crazy fun thriller that can happened to any of us.
Single's Inferno (2021)
Good show for relaxing
I've never watched American type of these kind of shows such as Bachelorette, Love Island, etc because of vulgarity and to much non sense. But this korean version is so captivating, maybe mostly because me as an Asian can relate to their culture, awkwardness, and shyness. And it doesn't hurt to see some pretty faces too, lol. Eps 4 was such a cliffhanger, kudos for the maker.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Ruined my childhood memories
Resident evil is one of the most popular VG franchise in the world. It's not an exaggeration that this franchise has helped Sony PS as big as it is today. I remember my self bought a PS1 console because I played RE in my friend's house back in 99. So when I heard they're going to make an RE movie, with the tag line, as close as the original, it really gets me hyped. But Sony has ruined this franchise by letting someone who actually don't care about RE helming this project. Starting with boring story line, wooden cast, stupid plot, and the most irritating thing for me is the casting for Leon. All and all, those who involved with this movie should be given T virus.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
New GOT?? Unlikely
I got so fed up reading hyperbolic review of this show. The only good thing about this show are the 2 main characters. Other than that, this show is really messed up.. The story is incoherent what so ever and the characters won't make us believe that they are from medieval age.. Just look at that Gucci like robe that that ginger wore. I push my self to watch this show to the 4th episode and that's it.. I wonder how much Jeff Bezos pays imdb to score this show at 7.
Don't Breathe 2 (2021)
Waiting for the 3rd
A huge leap from the first one, in term of action and thrill. I wonder if this is in the same universe with John Wick.
Loki (2021)
Loki rocks!!
Absolutely glorious.. Wandavision was great... until that somewhat disastrous ending.. Let alone that too much leftist agenda of FATWS... but this show is really great and so MARVELLL.
