Middle of the Night (1959)
Lecherous old man
I was amazed anybody, young or old, could fall for this complaining, embittered, jealous, unattractive old man, much less a beauty like Kim Novak!! Frederic March must have played this role very well because it overshadows anything else he has done. Now, when I think of him, I think of a lecherous old fool ruining a young girl's life. It's intriguing because you just can't believe the plot!! Kim should have gone back to her attractive husband. Their lives would have, at least, been sane!! Maybe, their marriage will last a year or two until she gets sick and tired of his jealous rampages. Because a man 56 years old, which he mentions over and over, with nothing going for him is gonna be jealous of anything that moves. He will have a heart attack thinking about it. Watch for a laugh but have a vomit bag ready.
Life with Murder (2010)
Killed his father too.
This documentary was depressing, riveting, scary, unbelievable, confusing, and enraging. Mason Jenkins, who, indeed, murdered his sister in cold blood and not by accident as he continued to spew for ten years, is a deeply unlikable monster who was so jealous of his younger sister he decided to kill her and the rest of his family for money so he would be "respected" because he is a loser. Yet, he claims the murder didn't change the relationship that he and his sister supposedly had for each other. I wonder if his dead sister feels the same way. He wrote wills for both his parents because he planned to kill his parents after his sister, but things didn't work out. So he killed his sister for nothing yet still claims to love her. He also ended up killing his poor father who I believe because of his wife's sheer lack of emotion felt the family should stick together compelling the father to have to associate with this monster of a son for the next fifteen years. He lost a hundred pounds and developed diabetes and slowly withered away in this situation of losing his beloved daughter and trying to maintain a "family unit" with his murderous son, who never expressed any remorse and only showed an empty soul.
Night Watch (1973)
Detective Walker
I loved Nightwatch. The more times I watched it the more absorbing it was and the better I liked it. Elizabeth Taylor was marvelous in this. She is a fine dramatic actress as well as still being beautiful in this movie. I have always liked Laurence Harvey but he seemed a little over the top in this. Maybe it was because of the cancer that was killing him during production. But the one actor I couldn't take my eyes off of was Bill Dean who played Inspector Walker. I loved his low-key approach to detective work and his calm monotone voice. He is the kind of detective I would like to have in charge if there was any investigation that I was involved in. He also brought a bit of humor to the movie, at least for me. Another great cast member was Robert Lang, who played Mr. Appleby, the poor guy who just wanted to plant his flowers and trees in peace. I just wish the movie could have had a better ending because I am still not sure if Liz's husband and best friend had anything to do with what was going on in the old house or if it was her imagination.
Rhapsody (1954)
Gorgeous
Beautiful Elizabeth Taylor together with handsome Vittorio Gassman and John Ericson....plus glorious technicolor and music......what could go wrong?? A feast for the senses!!!
The Stranger Game (2006)
Mimi
I like Mimi in anything so I like this movie. Unlike the other reviewer of this movie who said she was grotesque I think she is beautiful. Tom Cruise must have found her so, too. And I LOVE her voice!!
Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Boring, Schmoring!!!
I watched because of Johnny Depp and naturally he was the murder victim. When he died the movie became a snoozefest. Don't waste your time.
